Not a question or a complaint. Just an observation and FYI about how inaccurate the actual thermostat is. It generates its own heat (processor, WiFi, display) and can't dissipate it so it could be 3-5 degrees higher than actual temperature.

Ecobee should just include sensors by default with instructions to mount one near the thermostat but not so close to pick up it's heat.

Yes, you can also adjust the temperature offset but that is static so it could still be inaccurate since the heat that Ecobee generates can fluctuate.

A few years ago I had my Ecobee setup perfect that when everyone left the house Homekit would kick my thermostat into away mode. It seems somewhere along the line Away mode no longer works and I have been just using Heat/AC at a manual temp when people leave the house as a temporary "band aid".

My question, is there ANY way to utilize the away function in Homekit?

Hello, I have a house with multiple HVAC systems:

A boiler in the basement has two zones for main floor and upstairs floor.

A central AC in the attic has one zone for the main floor and upstairs floor.

A furnace in the basement has one zone for heat and AC for the finished basement.

I replaced the prior "dumb" thermostat that controlled the whole house AC and main floor heating that was in the family room with an Ecobee a few years ago.

Recently the ancient "dumb" thermostat in the bedroom that only controls the upstairs heating broke. It is a Honeywell 97-4730 Rev A.

Looking at the wiring, I saw an unused wire in the wall. I checked with a multimeter and it drew 27 volts between the wire and the R wire, so I believe that is an unused C wire.

In the Honeywell, there are wires plugged into R, W, and Rc. There is no jumper wire.

The new Ecobee Enhanced I bought says the wire combination is not compatible. Is this because there is an Rc but no Y? The thermostat does not power AC so why is there an Rc? Can I cap off the Rc and only use R, Y, and C?

I press eco+ but it does not say.

I've been using the app to control the temp for several months without a problem. All of a sudden (it seems) it has stopped working. I have a notice that 'eco+ is on' where the temp is set. If I try to change it (up or down) it pops up a message 'Adjusting for humidity eco+ is using the humidity to lower energy consumption and keep you comfortable.' My options with that dialog are 'Stop eco+ for the day' and 'Cancel'. If I try to stop for the day I get a red error 'Sorry we're unable to make any changes due to server connection issues. Please try again later'

I can turn eco+ off on the general settings, but it still shows as on with the temperature. I cant change the temp at all without that error and have to go to the thermostat and manually adjust. Which works fine.

Any suggestions?

I’ve been having this issue a lot lately. My ecobee is making my AC cool even though the temperature is already at or below the target for the current setting. Any idea what’s going on here?

If the fan is on "Indefinite On," how do you turn that off?

I don't want to turn everything off... just want to go from "Indefinite On" to Auto.

Have tried the app and the wall thermostat but nothing works other than shutting everything off and leaving it off:

• When I switch it from "Indefinite On" to Auto, the setting doesn't save so that doesn't work.
• If I switch the timer from Indefinite to 15min, the timer runs for 15min, and then it goes back to Indefinite On.
• If I turn the system fully off (ie, turn off "Cooling" which is not what I want) and then turn it back on after 10-15 sec, the fan comes back on in Indefinite mode. (To clarify... I'm *not* turning it off mid cycle. I am turning it "off" when Cooling mode is on but A/C is *not* running and only the fan is running.)
• If I turn Cooling "off" for 5-10 min and then turn it back on then the fan mode will be back in Auto but surely turning the whole system off for 5-10min can't be the only to get it out of Indefinite Mode? That would be silly. (Same thing here... I'm *not* turning it off mid AC cycle, I'm only turning it "off" when AC is already *not* running and *only* the fan is running.)

It's a single thermostat set up with the Smart Thermostat Enhanced (version 4.10.8.256). Only paired with one app. Under system settings, the minimum run time for the fan is 0min/hour so that wouldn't be a factor.

I'm a new Ecobee user and this is driving me bonkers. How is this supposed to work?

I’ve attached 7-day Beestat logs showing the Ecobee thermostat built-in sensor (blue) and an adjacent remote sensor (red). They’ve tracked each other very closely all week until this morning.

At around 4 AM there’s a brief gap in the data. Immediately afterward, the thermostat and remote sensor start to diverge significantly. I happened to be home today and noticed the house was getting unusually cold, which is what led me to investigate.

Was there a recent firmware update? Mine currently shows 4.10.33.30. I’m wondering if an update was installed during that ~4 AM gap and something changed afterward.

The smaller gap around noon was me physically removing the Ecobee and reinstalling it to force a reboot. That didn’t fix the issue.

Nothing else has changed: no fan running, no draft behind the thermostat (it’s on an interior wall), etc. The state & sensors were tracking fairly closely right up until the 4 AM event.

For now I’ve disabled the thermostat’s internal temperature sensor and am controlling solely from the remote sensor, which seems to be working normally. Ecobee remote sensor (currently controlling the system) and non-ecobee sensor both say it's 74 and the house is normal/comfortable. The ecobee itself reports (in the app) that it is still reading 77 which is definitely wrong.

Anyone else on 4.10.33.30 seeing anything similar?

I've had the Ecobee Smart Thermostat for 3+ years. One of the reasons is my power companies 3pm - 7pm peak pricing. Up until a month or so ago its worked exactly as designed and intended.

Now, TOU is acting wacky. It will cool down prior to Tou window as expected, but then keep going. It seems to error on continuing to lower. I notice it because "why is the ac still running? Why is it so cool in here"

I messaged Ecobee support, we went through steps, some I had previously done. They finally had me pull it off the wall to reset it. It seemed a little better but today it felt too cool after 3pm and it was still running

I picked through other posts and see that I'm not totally alone. I'm looking to see if anyone has had these symptoms and made any sense of them?

I can't seem to get my watch to synchronize with my phone and I'm wondering if it's because the watch is on watchOS 26 and the phone is using the iOS 27 beta.

I manually set the temp to 73. For some reason, the AC just clicked on even though the only occupied rooms are at or below the set temp. Note that the temp where the thermostat is located is a full 5 degrees below the set temp. Why is this happening and how can I stop it, other than continually manually adjusting the temp (note that I’ve shut off the setting to adjust temp to “economically” run the system.)?

Had Claude Code analyze and monitor my system and make adjustments to my humidity point and set point. Anyone else do anything like this? What adjustments did you end up making?

I can't speak to how well it does/doesn't work, but their customer service policies are atrocious. We just got done renovating our house, and I purchased two Ecobee devices on 7/1. Our move-back date got pushed from 7/25 to 8/20. When we went to set them up, we decided to go with a different brand. Yes, we had missed the 30-day window, but I feel, given the circumstances, I could reasonably ask for an exception. NOPE. They wouldn't even consider it. Again, I get it, but in today's review-based world, I'd think a simple return/refund would be worth avoiding a bad review. I rarely/hardly ever leave negative ones, but this is a customer service issue that could EASILY have been resolved.

***UPDATE! Ecobee has graciously agreed to make an exception and accept the return. Everyone can officially cool down now to a comfortable 68 degrees. I know this has been an incredibly difficult and emotional journey for many of you, so I hope this news finally brings the closure you need.

I have an Ecobee Premium I got from Costco a few months ago, it seemed to be reading my humidity right, at 55-60% in the summer. However today, in a 25 minute period, it shot up to 70% and has stayed there and now behaves as if it was at 55-60% humidity. No amount of reboots will change this, and the hole is sealed.

I don’t have a hygrometer on hand to test it, but it seems highly suspect that it randomly shot up that high, especially when I don’t have any leaks and the wall it’s on does not open up to an attic.

Is this the result of faulty unit, or do they all behave this way (I’m leaning on this one after browsing this sub), can I just adjust the calibration manually?

Edit, the temperature is off too, my calibrated lab thermometer reads 70 and the ecobee is reading 72.

Maybe my entire unit is broken?

Ecobee can't seem to cool to set temp. Eco plus is disabled. Outside temp was 60s last night and it never reach set temp. Anything else I should look at?

The temperature feels good in the house, but there’s no way it’s 77.4°. Why is the Ecobee thermostat reading 77.4 but the house reading is 74.4? Am I missing something?

I just had an ecobee installed downstairs last night by an HVAC tech because the wiring did not show a C wire so I was not confident I could install on my own since I am not handy. This is after having an upstairs ecobee and been happy with it and wanting to go ahead and get a modern smart thermostat for downstairs.

It seemed to be working ok but woke up to an error msg on the thermostat about it losing connections to Wifi - that was it, I needed to dismiss the message. However, the unit did not automatically re-connect to the saved Wifi network in my home. Instead it was stuck on a 'kea005' network. My upstairs ecobee has never had this issue and my downstairs unit is literally a few feet from the router. So I don't suspect it is anything to do with the wifi network, rather something with the thermostat itself. Both are ecobee smart thermostat premiums.

I have been looking and while people are reporting general Wifi issues I couldn't find anyone where the unit itself does not automatically reconnect to the saved Wifi. I've put in a support ticket for help as well wondering if the unit itself has a glitch, but wondering if any kind folks in this forum might have a clue what is going on.

Also it seems to have disconnected from the smart sensor last night and even though the smart sensor was showing as paired it was 'unavailable' and I had to manually delete it and re-pair it for it to work again.

We had a brief power outage around 5am yesterday and that night, I felt something was off with the length of time the AC was running. I checked Beestat and ever since the power outage, the wall unit has been measuring the room temp 3-ish degrees higher than the sensor that's in the same room (living room.) I used a regular counter thermostat and it was the same as the sensor. For the past year and a half we've had the ecobee this has never happened, they've always been within a degree of each other. Beestat clearly shows huge temps with the wall unit right after the outage. I took the unit (Ecobee Premium) off the wall for about 5 minutes and it seemed to fix it, only for the unit to display a much higher temp shortly after. Did the power outage fry the sensor or some other internal component? Support is closed and in the meantime I have the wall unit unchecked from my comfort settings.

Update: after speaking with support for over an hour and two different agents nobody can help me. They want me to put the putty behind the unit to seal up the "hole" behind it but I know this is not the issue. I've had the unit for over a year and a half and I've never had such wild temperature swings. It all started immediately after the power outage yesterday. Looks like I'll be switching from ecobee after less than 2 years. Going to go with something more old school I think.

Update#2 Husband said to just do the putty to try to get the issue escalated. So we did the putty, of course the issue didn't resolve and I spoke to another agent. They tried to tell me nothing was wrong even though I have data backing up that everything started with the power outage and the major discrepancies in the temperature that were not there prior to the outage. They said a team lead will be calling me back within 24 hours.

Do you have it with the Bosch air ​handler or Bosch furnace?

Do you have the IDS paired with a furnace from a different brand?

I personally have a Bosch IDS 2.0 paired ​with a carrier, 2 stage furnace. My ecobee is configured as 2 stage aux and 2 stage heat pump.

One tiny modification that I made​ was add a relay so my Bosch can be used as a whole house dehumidifier. Unfortunately, this hack doesn't work if you have the Bosch air handler or the Bosch furnace. ​

I have a newer variable speed Carrier HVAC system. When they installed it, they told me my existing Ecobee thermostat was not compatible. This was a couple years ago. I hate the compatible thermostat they gave me, and I still have my other Ecobee thermostat running the main floor and basement. So I’m checking to see if Ecobee has released any recent products that are now compatible with variable speed HVAC units.
