Working out with ectopic

Upvotes

My doctor confirmed today that he thinks I might have an ectopic pregnancy. I had an embryo transfer on Aug 4 and 2 weeks ago I found out I was pregnant. Last Wednesday nothing could be seen on the ultrasound and my hcg was low at 400. Blood test yesterday confirmed my hcg is still at 409 even though I had a full period starting from Wednesday. ( Not just spotting, lining and everything went.) On Friday I have another blood test and we talk about treatment options. I have a dullish pain on my right side. My question is, is it ok to workout in this condition? For example can I walk 10k steps? Can I do squat jumps? Etc?

Thanks!

im 18 i fear it’s an ectopic pregnancy

i’m literally shivering nonstop as i type this, pls read. i had period on 10-15 august and had sex on 16 where condom slipped and had emergency pill on 18 since we were on a trip and didn’t have access to it right away. after that bleeding dark brown blood medium to less from 27- 31 and discharge after orgasm is also dark brown and at night around i get pain on left side lower tummy, i don’t have this lower tummy cramp all day, just at night. i had uterine brown blood bleeding with clots i can’t be pregnant believe but the lower belly left side pain and also gemini and chatgpt making me fear more. my brown bleeding stopped this morning , it’s very very mild.

the thing is that left side lower belly pain is not new that it only happened after taking pill, it happens to me every period and around ovulation aswell, but still it could be an ectopic pregnancy in my left tube i fear.

he never once cummed inside me and also it was the first round when it happened, he didn’t ejaculate before it

4 months since ectopic

I had my ruptured tube removed on Mother’s Day this year, I’m also only 21 years old and was an unplanned pregnancy and unfortunately had an ectopic in my right tube. I had emergency surgery to remove it and my internal bleeding into my pelvis. (This was all hidden from my parents and siblings and only had support from my partner of almost 3 years).

It’s been almost 4 months post op now, and I’m wondering has anyone been diagnosed with PMDD since having an ectopic? My periods are now more painful and emotional and I already have endometriosis which was found during my surgery to remove my tube.

Something feels so off, I don’t feel normal, it’s almost as if I’m grieving who I was 6 months ago.

If anyone else has experienced this please share your thoughts and experiences because I feel like I’m loosing touch of myself and reality around me.

TTC after Ectopic with PCOS

Hi,

I had a ectopic pregnancy in February and required emergency surgery with a salpingectomy so now only have 1 remaining tube.

We have been TTC since march as we were given the all clear as soon as my first period arrived. Period has just arrived tonight and I feel at my wits end with TTC and all that goes with it tww, opks etc. I have tried to switch off and not track but I know where abouts in my cycle I am in my head without an app.

We will be going into month 7 now of TTC since ectopic. Ectopic took 10 months to conceive before that our son (6 years ago) took 8 months and before that a miscarriage which took 9 months to conceive (6 years ago). Obviously aging is a factor (31), 1 tube and the fact I have pcos doesn't go well in my favour. I am on Metformin so my cycles are regular and I know I do ovulate.

I am just feeling so fed up and slightly sorry for myself really. I do feel like it'll just not happen at this point but when I'm seeing pregnancy posts left right and centre I just feel sad for me.

Not sure if anyone else is in the same boat or feeling the same way but just needed to put my thoughts somewhere! Or if anyone has been in a similar position. Thanks.

Nervous about another ectopic, hopeful but not letting myself get excited

I found out I was pregnant a week ago and had a faint line (see photo) then just retested yesterday and found a much thicker hcg line.

My beta hcgs jumped from 245 to 526 in 2 days during week 4.

My ultrasound is scheduled next Friday, September 11 to check the location. I also have a flight booked that night to Manila with my husband for our delayed honeymoon and now hopefully babymoon 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I haven't had any spotting, very typical pregnancy symptoms, and now a lot more twinging and pinching under my belly button close to where my uterus is but sort of on the right instead of dead center. I lost my right tube from my last ectopic and I am really really hoping these twinges mean a intrauterine pregnancy but I know I won't know until the ultrasound.

It feels like a lot is riding on this ultrasound because I don't even know how our travel plans will go if it is ectopic.

I am constantly monitoring symptoms and trying to relax but it feels impossible not to think about it.

I guess I am posting for reassurance and wondering if any moms who didn't have an ectopic had my symptoms?

I did feel a mild twinge on my left side the other day when I was hitting and kicking the punching bag hard but it settled fast.

I am currently only 5 weeks along. It took us a year to conceive and I want to feel excited and start getting connected to my baby but it feels too soon because I know I may lose it at any moment 🙁

Thank you for any support 🙏🏼🌈

Possible ectopic?

Hi I hope this reaches an audience that has some knowledge of ectopic pregnancies…it’s unclear where this pregnancy is located based on my LMP I should be 4 weeks and 3 days today. I have an HCG of 558. Saturday it was at 206, so I’m assuming it’s the appropriate doubling. Though iv heard numbers do not determine a viable pregnancy. I have 1 live birth and looking back at my HCG during that pregnancy it was a lot higher….iv had some mild cramps no bleeding and lots of back pain. Went Saturday afternoon to ER to get a trans vag and isoechoic mass was found on my left adnexa. Along with free fluid in the pelvic region. Now they are monitoring HCG levels every 48-72 hours and ultrasound around 5 or 6 weeks. Is it possible I may be too early? I’m worried about the mass found in my adnexa…anyone have success stories similar to this situation.

Positive test after ectopic!

Hello everyone,i am glad to be part of this group i was reading some amazing stories here filled with hope and blessings! I had an ectopic last year almost same time i ovulate in August 18.2025 to a positive test and later came to know is was an ectopic on the right side. I was about 5-6 weeks HCG around 12.000 when they finally located the embrio. Send me straight to surgery and saved my tube but i am not sure leaving the tube there was an good idea after all because later i did hsg and tube was totally blocked (i did hsg after 6 months after the surgery)

Symptoms: only light pain on my right side lower abdomen,no blood,no other symptoms.Only 1 time i saw a tiny little pink blood on my underwear but that was just one time.

Anyway left tube was open and this gave me hope. We have tried few times but no luck and last month i did the papers ready for IVF . My husband was asking me if we try one more time since August is his birthday and maybe we have luck.

And i got a strong positive clear blu test 1 week before i become my periods

Did the first HCG and it was 250,it raised up to 1700 yesterday so 5 day difference ( doc says that these are very good signs! I did an ultrasound Yesterday and she was not able to locate the embrio yet,she saw that pregnancy happened on my left side so on the side that tube is open.

She checked the tubes twice for any suspicious signs but nothing there looks everything clear so far.

She asked me to go back for an ultrasound on Friday that perhaps she will be able to locate the sac. I might be currently 2 weeks and 2 days with my calculation because i ovulated in 15-16-17 my strong lines .

First week i had very heavy symptoms such as dizziness, feeling sleepy and boobs were growing.

Later the symptoms went away.i can now hardly feel any dizziness.but breast still same ! No blood only time to time pain in both sides but mostly upper not lower abdomen.

Trying to pray and remain calm that this wonder will happen to me this time.i am 37 and this should be my first baby.

Please if you had similar situations i would be so happy to hear tips and your stories.

Exercise after ectopic surgery

When did you resume your normal activities like exercise after surgery? I got laparoscopic surgery and lost my right tube 3 weeks ago.

My doctor said if I feel okay physically I can resume normal activity, but I see different things on the internet that say wait 4-6 weeks.

I’d like to resume lifting, running, swimming, etc. but don’t want to overdo it.

MTX Aftermath

Howdy to this group of women, again!

I continue to browse on here to read stories and feel validated!

My story is rather long, but to cut it short: Was never officially diagnosed ectopic until I had to get the emergency surgery, after some excrutiating pain one weekend, back in July. It was suspected an ectopic the week before the rupture, but the doc thought my spotting may be a blighted ovum, with no need for further actions. I had insisted on the left sided pain and she had hesitantly given me the MTX injection. My HCG's never went higher than 65. 3 days later, tube ruptured, went to ER, lost tube, ton of blood, and the babe. Though, I'm not sure I can call it that, with it being unviable, with HCG's being so low...

I'm finally working out again, HCG's reached 0, about to approach my second period next week, and feeling better. Moving forward from everything, with hopes of mid-October TTC. I'm 34 with my remaining tube being scarred- which makes me nervous, but I have an HSG scheduled in Oct. to determine if we TTC naturally, or if we should go IVF route, should that remaining tube be blocked.

Anyway- I'm having such a hard time with the MTX injection side-effects, still ☹️ My hair will not stop thinning & falling out. Every time I take a shower/wash my hair another glob is collected and thrown away. I don't mean that it's falling out in globs, just more like, I run my fingers through my hair and tons of strands are webbing around my fingers with every comb-through. I've started taking prenatals again, taking my typical collagen suppliment again, and even applying Mielle Rosemary mint hair oil...Please tell me the shedding and thinning is going to stop soon?!

How did this group of strong women get through it all?! Between losing so much blood, losing the babe, and losing the hair...It just feels like loss after loss, after loss...it's making me so insecure

Persistent Ectopic

My hCG kept rising after my laparoscopic surgery almost 3 weeks ago for an unruptured 6–7 week tubal ectopic pregnancy. My doctor was able to save my tube (as requested by my husband bec we’ve been TTC for quite a while, he said to try and save it to higher chance in the future than only 1 ft) , but because my hCG is still rising, I was advised to get methotrexate tomorrow for persistent ectopic.

What should I expect after the shot? Is there anything I should prepare for or avoid?

Honestly, I thought it would all be over after surgery. I already lost my baby, went through surgery, and now I’m still dealing with this. 💔 The heartbreak is getting worse, and I can’t even process anything right now.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who went through something similar. 🤍

PUL - shared experience?

Hello everyone,

I had very light spotting yesterday (once when wiping) and went in just to check. I’m 6W0D today. While they did the informal ultrasound they found what they think is a normal sized gestation sac but that’s it. The issue is they couldn’t tell if it was inside the uterus or outside. I have an ultrasound scheduled tomorrow but I was hoping to hear from you all with shared experiences. Especially if they didn’t end in ectopic. Thanks

Am I having an ectopic?

Hello, I had a FET on 8/10 and here are my betas so far:
8/19 (9dp5dt) HCG 117
8/21 (11dp5dt) HCG 134
8/24 (14dp5dt) HCG 144
8/27 (17dp5dt) HCG 193- nothing seen on ultrasound, advised to stop medications
8/31 (21dp5dt) HCG 682

Today, 9/1, my clinic wants me to go for an ultrasound but I think 682 is still small to see a gestational sac.

Can an ectopic be found at these levels? Should I wait two more days for an ultrasound?

Nervous about upcoming trip when TTC

I’ve recently started ttc again in my current cycle after an ectopic in April where I ended up having surgery at around week 7. And learned of it in week 5.

I am planning on going abroad (via plane) for a long weekend around the time my next period is due and so if for example I ended up being pregnant I would find out around that time or just after.

But my main worry is that for example if another ectopic happens, would I need to be wary of any possible symptoms or even a rupture before I could even get a positive test for instance?

I don’t know whether I should stop trying if I could potentially be caught out whilst in a different country.

Or am I just being too cautious? Any advice would be appreciated.

Ps I am aware this is all on the assumption I could even get pregnant this month in the first place. But it did happen first try last time!

Light bleeding for first two days after surgery but becoming heavier day 3?

Had an emergency tube and ectopic removal very early Saturday morning, first two days had light vaginal bleeding just when I wiped, this morning there was a lot of blood (bled through my underwear and liner) and bright red with some cramping

It’s not enough to fill a pad in one hour as I see a general direction online but it’s still quite a lot

I had this surgery in emergency at the hospital so I didn’t get any good instructions on discharge and don’t have a doctor to call, I’d just be going back to emergency room and waiting hours again to be seen

Has this been others experience?

Ectopic pregnancy?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have been experiencing lower right side/upper pelvic sharp pain when I move too fast, the wrong way. I messaged my doctor and they want me to come in to make sure it’s not an ectopic pregnancy. I am freaking out. I am 9 weeks pregnant and I go in tomorrow. I had an ultrasound at a free clinic at 7w5d and they didn’t mention an ectopic pregnancy. Can anyone tell from this ultrasound if it’s ectopic? I’m freaking out

STILL TTC AFTER ECTOPIC

Hello,

i had an ectopic september 2023, i was ttc for 2 years up until that point. i had an HSG prior to this and it showed clear right tube but thats where i had ectopic with tube removal. my left has blunted or abnormal fimbriae, which catches the egg and guides it to the uterus. since its my only tube left, it wont be much use anyways and if it does do anything, most likely will be another ectopic.. took 2 years to have that pregnancy, and its been 2 years & i haven't been pregnant since, evrything has come back normal besides my damaged tube. with that and having a damaged tube, dr thinks i should head straight for IVF. does anyone have any affordable recommendations? or any recommendations/advice with my situation? thanks so much.

After 2 ectopics: did you try naturally again, move to IVF, or ever find an underlying cause?

Hi everyone. I relied on this community a lot while going through my back to back ectopics this year, and I’m now at the point of trying to figure out how to move forward. I’d especially love to hear from people who have had two or more ectopic pregnancies.

I’ve had two ectopics/PULs, both treated with MTX. The first I was two months in before getting diagnosed and the resolution was messy and scary. The second, I quickly knew I was having another so we treated early but it was never actually located. After the second one in May, I decided to see an RE, partly to evaluate my fertility but mostly because I wanted to understand whether there might be an underlying reason this has happened twice.

My fertility workup has been reassuring, especially given I just turned 40. My recent AFC was 26, AMH 4.3, FSH 7.1, estradiol 40.7, and the rest of my hormonal testing and ultrasound were normal. No thyroid issues or anything else discovered. I’ve also previously had an HSG showing both tubes completely open. Interestingly, I conceived my second ectopic just days after that HSG.

My RE has said that unfortunately there often isn’t an identifiable reason for recurrent ectopics, and that things like subtle tubal dysfunction, adhesions or endometriosis can still exist despite a normal HSG.

He estimates my risk of another ectopic if I conceive naturally at around 25% after two prior ectopics, versus roughly 2–3% with IVF and a single blastocyst transfer given my history. Because of that difference, he’s recommending IVF as the safest next step. He isn’t saying I can’t try naturally again, just that IVF would substantially reduce the recurrence risk.

I’m 40, so obviously age and time are also part of the equation. At the same time, I seem able to conceive naturally and my fertility testing is reassuring, which makes it emotionally complicated to choose IVF primarily because of the ectopic risk rather than infertility itself.

I’m also still struggling with not knowing why this happened twice. I don’t have the typical symptoms of endometriosis, but I’ve wondered about silent endometriosis or another issue that wouldn’t necessarily show up on an HSG or routine ultrasound. I was in deep grief due to unexpected loss the year before conceiving, so I wonder if general inflammation from stress was a factor.

So I’d really love to hear from anyone who has been in a similar position:

• After two or more ectopics, how did you decide whether to try naturally again or move to IVF, and what happened?

• Did anyone eventually find an underlying cause despite normal testing/HSG, or did you ultimately have to accept that there wasn’t an explanation?

I’m not looking for anyone to make the decision for me, and I know everyone’s medical situation is different. I’m mostly hoping to hear how others with multiple ectopics navigated this particular crossroads.

Thank you to everyone who shares. This community was incredibly helpful to me when I was going through both pregnancies, and I’m grateful it exists.

New to this

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with ectopic pregnancy of unknown location and treated with Methotrexate today by a local ER. After receiving the injection I was desperate to get home and it wasn't until I got home that I realized I wasn't given any information on what to expect, what to steer clear from, if I can exercise/drink/continue to take prenatals/etc.

Please be kind. I had a full-term stillbirth almost 5 months ago at the same hospital I was treated at for the ectopic today, so it's safe to say I was dissociating and completely removed from my care while there.

Thank you in advance for any advice, words of wisdom, etc.

I feel desperate waiting for my cycle to return - some positive words appreciated!

I had a misdiagnosed ectopic as miscarriage, and had a d&c June 24. Turned out to be en ectopic that ruptured and contained itself, so I was treated with methotrexate July 7. I had emergency surgery July 16 and had a right salpingectomy. I had my first negative hcg test at home on August 1.

Still no sign of a period, my lh ratios are so low. The highest lh ratio I saw was a few days after my first negative hcg at .54. I got an Inito and everytime I test, it just says low fertility.

Anyone could I have ovulated before the first negative hxg test? I had 4 days of lighter bleeding/spotting 1 week after my first negative pregnancy test. I didn’t think it was a period.

I feel pathetic and desperate for my period. Constantly taking opks multiple times a day everyday and testing with the expensive Inito strips in the mornings.

How long did it take for your period to come back?

Could this possibly be an ectopic pregnancy even with a negative test at 15 DPO?

I’m currently 15 DPO. At 13 DPO, I suddenly developed severe one-sided lower back pain around my tailbone/lower back area. It came out of nowhere.. my back was completely fine before this. The pain is so severe that I can barely walk.

I went to the doctor because I initially thought it might be a kidney stone, and I was told that I do have one. However, I’m not completely convinced that the kidney stone is causing the pain because the pain feels much lower than where I’d expect typical kidney pain, and it changes depending on my position/movement.

My period is also late. I usually get my period like clockwork and have never missed a period except when I was pregnant previously. This time I have absolutely no period and don't have any of my usual signs that my period is coming.

I took a pregnancy test at 15 DPO using first-morning urine, and it was negative.

I don't have any abdominal/pelvic pain or vaginal bleeding, just this sudden, severe one-sided lower back pain that started at 13 DPO.

I know ectopic pregnancies can sometimes present differently, so I’m wondering if it’s still possible to have an ectopic pregnancy with a negative test at 15 DPO.

Has anyone experienced an ectopic that initially presented mainly as severe one-sided lower back pain? And is a negative pregnancy test at 15 DPO enough to rule out an ectopic, or could it still be too early?

Blood test to confirm folate sufficiency after MTX?

Did any of your providers run blood tests to confirm normal folate levels before TTC?

If so, what labs did they run to check this? My provider seems reluctant, but I'm an anxious person, so was looking into ordering them OOP through Quest or Labcorp.
