Hey everyone,

​Ripped up the old carpet on my staircase in my home in Eindhoven and ran straight into a wall. Beneath it is this old waffle rubber underlayment with a net/mesh backing (looks like old Parade brand underlay) glued directly to the wooden treads.

​Every time I try to pull or peel it, it just snaps into tiny, brittle 1-inch chunks because the glue bond is way stronger than the old rubber. Trying to pick it off by hand is going to take weeks.

Zoals de titel al omschrijft is er een familielid van mijn ouders die op zoek is naar een kamer in Eindhoven, om vanuit daar verder te kunnen kijken voor een woning. Ze is van origine Nederlands maar heeft al een geruime Engeland gewoond en wil nu terug naar Nederland (Eindhoven en omstreken). het is wel van belang dat ze wordt of kan worden ingeschreven op het adres. Ik ken wel wat facebookgroepen maar dat is voornamelijk op jongeren gericht en een studentenhuis is natuurlijk niet de gouden optie. maar wie weet waar we moeten en of kunnen beginnen? Al zou het een goede hospita zijn helpt dat haar al enorm! Het is helaas niet echt mogelijk om bij familie terecht te kunnen nu of voornamelijk ingeschreven te worden, dus die optie valt af

Hoi allemaal,

Ik ben op zoek naar een slagerij in of rondom Eindhoven waar ik vlees kan kopen dat halal is geslacht, volledig grasgevoerd is, hormoonvrij, antibioticavrij en afkomstig is van dieren die een goed (buiten) leven hebben gehad. Het liefst wil ik fysiek in een winkel vlees gaan halen, echter kan ik zelf geen geschikte slager vinden in de omgeving Eindhoven. Mocht niemand een fysieke winkel kunnen aanraden, hoop ik suggesties te krijgen van online platformen die vlees thuis kunnen laten bezorgen. Ik hoop dat iemand hier ervaring mee heeft.

For Eindhoven Creator Community, I recently sat down with Hanneke Wetzer, an Eindhoven-based artist, illustrator and photographer.

What started as a conversation about her work turned into a much broader story about creativity, the human body, photography, public art and what it means to develop your own visual language.

One thing that stayed with me from the interview was the way Hanneke talked about minimalism. Instead of seeing limitations as something negative, they helped her discover what actually suited her work:

“Het minimalisme was geen beperking, maar juist iets wat echt bij mij hoorde.”
“Minimalism wasn’t a limitation, but something that genuinely felt like me.”

We also talked about her fascination with the human body, her Beings work, the different disciplines she moves between, and Eindhoven as a place to live and create.

What I like about these interviews is that they’re not really about making a list of someone’s achievements. I’m much more interested in why someone creates, how their work develops, and what keeps them curious.

The interview took place at Douwe Egberts Café in Eindhoven, and I took the portrait used for the article there as well.

Hi everyone! My partner and I are expats living in Eindhoven, and we’re looking for a Protestant/Evangelical Christian church in Eindhoven or the surrounding area. We’re 24 and 25 and would love to find a welcoming community where we can get involved, meet people around our age, and grow in our faith.

Since we’re foreigners, we’re looking for either an English-speaking church or a Dutch-speaking church that provides English translation during the service.

For those who attend or have attended churches in the area, which ones would you recommend and why? Are there any churches or communities you’ve had particularly good or bad experiences with, or would recommend avoiding?

We’re especially interested in the atmosphere, how welcoming they are to newcomers, the age range, the style of the services, and whether it’s easy to meet people and make friends.

We’d really appreciate hearing about both positive and negative experiences.

Hello, I was meant to start my MA in Information Design at Design Academy Eindhoven. Unfortunately due to doubts, financial problems and housing issues, I’ve decided not to attend. Now I‘m wondering whether it would be worth to pursue the degree next year. By saving money, apply for scholarships, going to the graduation show and ddw to get a better feel.
My main fear about going to DAE was and still is employability and usefulness. Don‘t get me wrong I‘m very very interested in what they do!
But correct me if im wrong, this is what I‘ve gathered so far!
The programme heavily supports the own critical position as a designer. That seems great if you want to build a more art based practice like some of the alumni I looked at… The programme seems wide open, and im sure I could mold it to fit my goals, but it is an investment.
I‘m very cautious since (I don‘t mean to insult anybody by saying this) I don‘t understand how that translates into profitability and usability outside of the museum- and the very designy-scene. I come from a technical university that was very applied in graphic design and digital design (classic visual communication) if that helps.
What is your opinion? Why did you go to DAE? Why do you want to go to DAE? What did you learn at DAE? Thank you :)

Wie is Meentje en wat heeft ze gedaan?

Dus er is een rotonde getekend op het kruispunt maar als ik het goed begrijp gelden niet de normale rotonde-regels, maar normale kruispunt regels.

Dus niet "als je op de rotonde zit heb je voorrang" maar gewoon "verkeer van rechts en recht doorgaand verkeer heeft voorrang"

Dan zorgt dit toch alleen maar voor verwarring?

For some reason I don’t really like the foods at the restaurants here. I would love to try more home cooked meals from regular people because i think the taste would be more unique and i can try out different countries delicacies.. but I don’t know where I can find it here. Back in my country, people would just be selling on their small business page on Instagram but I can’t seem to find any here.

so I just got back from a 3 week trip and found a tomato in my fridge that I completely forgot about. still there, looking totally fine, no rot no nothing. that’s not normal right? a tomato shouldn’t survive 3 weeks untouched like that

not hating on supermarkets, I get why produce needs to last for logistics reasons etc, but I miss vegetables that actually taste like something… every time I visit back my home country food taste is so explosive..

does anyone have good spots for actually decent fruit/veg here? farmers markets, small farms, boerderijwinkel, veggie box subscriptions, whatever. even if more far away from Eindhoven. doesn’t need to be fancy just wanna taste an actual aubergine or zucchini again lol

Iemand ervaring met een fijne sportclub met womans only groepen? Voorkeur voor kickboksen, maar ben ook benieuwd naar gewone sportgroepjes. Hoor graag positieve ervaringen.

There was a post not long ago and I've noticed there are quite a few people around Eindhoven who would like to meet new people and make friends, but actually finding a new social circle as an adult and/or expat isn't always that easy.

So I thought: why not just create one?

I'm thinking of putting together a small, mixed group of people between the age of 30 and 45 who are up for doing things together in and around Eindhoven. Nothing too organised or serious just a group where we can occasionally:
grab a beer or coffee.
go for a walk or do something outdoors.
play sports or try a new activity.
go to events.
or simply hang out and have a good conversation.

I'd like to keep the group roughly balanced between men and women and nationalities and probably not make it too big, so people can actually get to know each other.

This is not meant to be a dating group the idea is simply to bring together people who are open to making new friends and expanding their social circle.

If you're interested, send me a DM with a little bit about yourself (age, where you're from, what you like doing, etc.). I'd also ask you to share your Instagram or Facebook profile privately in DM mainly just to make sure we're dealing with real people rather than anonymous Reddit accounts. Obviously, I won't share it with anyone, and I plan to get back to you within a week.

If enough people are interested, I'll organise a simple first meetup from September in Eindhoven probably drinks somewhere and we'll see where it goes from there. 🙂

Please mind that being intelligent and able to hold a good conversation is pretty much a must.
Also, please apply individually: no pairs or existing groups.
The whole idea is to give people who find it difficult to make new friends a chance to meet others from scratch, without anyone already having their own little circle within the group.

An exciting follow-up to my previous post about starting an offline hobby night in Eindhoven.

I received many thoughtful and insightful comments, so it seems there’s real interest in community, leathercraft and meeting like-minded people.

We’re now shaping the first GO ANALOGUE sessions at our atelier in Strijp-S. The idea is to spend a relaxed morning, afternoon or evening around a shared table where you will learn the basiscs of leathercraft while connecting with new people.

Our first fixed date is Saturday 5 September 09.00-11.00 project "refillable Italian leather journal"

Since the spots are so limited (10 spots) we want already to plan for another date:

Both projects are suitable for beginners. You’ll also go home with something useful that you made with your own hands!
