Models: Complete Updated Scheme

Poor Fire Prism has been painted 3 times now, but I think I am happy with this scheme! Time to go test it on a WraithKnight 🤞

Ps. Sorry for the poor photo quality.

You can tell it's high tech because it has hexagons!

Nicely done. I like the contrast!

We all know that hexagons equals high tech... hexagons and pixelated cubes :'D

It's because hexagons are the bestagons

The bees know... we should listen to the bees more.

Random fact time! Did you know that the shape of the cells in honeycomb are built as circles/ circular, but the heat of the hive makes the wax change shape to hexagon lattice because its a more stable 3 dimensional shape from a physics perspective!

Great paintjob btw love it

As a matter of fact a did know, but wicked fact to bring out! (Biology and Environmental Science teacher)

Thats awesome! We should listen to the bees more though, theyre kinda goated

Quick follow up question: the like crystal/ hexagon kind of pattern on the aide wings, did u use a stencil for those or freehand?

4

u/Woodsy24 20h ago

Definitely a stencil and airbrush, I dont have the steady hand or the time to do all that freehand 😅

2

u/MagesFault 20h ago

Yeah no i thought as much but was just curious, how did u get said stencil? Ive never used one but this look like something i would want

I'm pretty sure I got it off of etsy, but I bought it years ago so not sure. Its thin plastic and bendible, so I cut it out into convenient sizes and bend it into shape for the pannels I need.

Woh, this is a really great paintjob! <3

This looks incredible - super inspiring. That blue is really something! Mind sharing the recipe? I’ve been struggling to find a nice turquoise blue I really like.

5

u/Woodsy24 1d ago

Thanks! The green/blue is super simple, it's just the (extremely on the nose) Aeldari Emerald Contrast paint from Citadel over a black to light grey zenithal. The edge highlighting is an emerald green and then a yellow/green from vallejo (not sure which specific ones)

u/AlasPoorOstrava 1d ago

Easy and effective, thanks boss!

How do you do the scales on the panels?

3

u/Woodsy24 16h ago

Prime white, put down the glow gradient starting with brightest colour, then overlay a stencil for the pattern. Super simple, if a little fiddly.

u/ztay90 1d ago

Damn. That’s sick dude don’t change this scheme!

1

u/Woodsy24 1d ago

Thanks! I'm looking to expand this to the rest of the army now, working on a wraith host list :D

Where did you get the stencils

6

u/Drivestort 1d ago

Fallout hobbies does pretty good vynil stencils that stick on.

2

u/uller30 Ulthwé 1d ago

Thanks I’ll go check em out

u/Woodsy24 1d ago

Thats a very good question, I got them years ago so not certain... but im pretty sure it was an etzy find. There are also a bunch of 'art station' style stores that sell simmilar ones. Sorry thats not much to go off!

2

u/Blitzuk277 1d ago

Ah darn, I was intrigued to see what stencil you use as mine can be tricky to use.

2

u/BeerBatteredBadger 1d ago

Holy smack down batman. Thats awesome

1

u/Woodsy24 1d ago

Hahaha, thank you!

I love when people get creative with their painting and I love it even more when the execution is just as good if not better than the intention and planning. 10/10 I could not do better myself

u/Woodsy24 1d ago

Thanks!

Gross and disgusting, I need to do this myself. Terribly.

Confused :'D but thanks.

Wow nice

Thanks!

2

u/PandemicPainter 1d ago

Love the colours, what was your chosen method for the transitions between white, yellow, red, ash?

5

u/Woodsy24 1d ago

Just simple airbrush work, I think I used 6 colours from yellow/green at the brightest and charcoal at the darkest. Everything done over a white base starting with the brightest colours.

2

u/AlmostBlind_Bandit 1d ago

I both hate and admire you

1

u/Woodsy24 1d ago

Why hate? :o

2

Probably the best eldar vehicle I’ve ever seen.

1

u/Woodsy24 1d ago

Thats super kind, thank you!

2

u/Dingdongderp992 1d ago

Can you tell your color recipe?

I haven’t collected eldar in 2 years but it makes me want too.

2

u/Woodsy24 1d ago

Once im off work I'll compile it for you 👍

1

u/Dingdongderp992 1d ago

You’re the best!

Green panels:

  • Black prime/base
  • Grey zenithal highlight
  • Aeldari Emerald Contrast thinned through airbrush (Citadel)

Green panel highlight:

  • Emerald (Model color 70.838)
  • Yellow green (Model color 70.954)

Glow/Hex:

  • White prime/base
  • Yellow green (Model color 70.954)
  • Orange red (Model color 70.910)
  • Scarlet blood (Vallejo 72.106)
  • Gory red (Vallejo 72.011)
  • Evil red (Vallejo 72.112) also used for hex stencil
  • Charcoal (Vallejo 72.155)

Three of the reds can be found bundled in Vallejo's 'red color set'.

Hope that helps!

Holy hell that looks cool. Great job!

1

u/Woodsy24 7h ago

Thank you!

2

u/Actaeon_Majaris 13h ago

Gotta love some chunky highlights, looks perfect. 👌

The red parts of the wings does 100% look like Jim's solar surfer from Treasure Planet. Not a bad thing at all, just an observation. it looks awesome! 👌

1

u/Woodsy24 7h ago

Omg I love Treasure Planet! Not intentional but it does look a lot like the solar surfer 😂

2

u/Actaeon_Majaris 6h ago

Guess it was a subconscious choice 🤣

It's such an underrated film, I wish it got all the love it deserves.

1

u/Woodsy24 6h ago

Agreed, it's one of my go to school films for the end of term, most kids don't know it 🤦‍♂️

2

u/Actaeon_Majaris 6h ago

Well it's great that they have someone to introduce it to them! 😆

2

u/LittleManhattan 6h ago

I love it! That texturing suggesting some sort of energy field is really cool! Now I wanna try a Drukhari version once I get painting again.

1

u/Woodsy24 4h ago

I think this would work great for Drukhari, maybe just a little darker?

1

u/Freakehh 1d ago

That looks sick, Eldar design is just goated.

1

u/Woodsy24 1d ago

Agreed, love the Eldar asthetic. Whats even crazier is that the grav tank was released in 1997.... still looks amazing.

1

u/masterch33f420 20h ago

Is that pattern airbrushed over a stencil?

2

u/Woodsy24 20h ago

Yup, the cockpit has the stencil down and glow effect added. The wings have the glow done first then a dark layer over from the stencil, so the inverse.

1

u/Plenty_Mycologist_10 16h ago

Beautiful work

2

u/Woodsy24 7h ago

Thank you!

1

u/Niiai 13h ago

How does one use stensils and airbrush?

1

u/organicHack 8h ago

Sick. It’s great.
