This is Pt.2 of the 3-wire drawing, technically no longer a 3-wire ;)

Same concept as the 3-wire stop start, but now you see the stop/ e-stop is normally closed, which is how it generally is in the field (depending on the set of contacts you are using), the start is no longer momentary, meaning it has a seal-in which means when it is pressed, this set of contacts is open and when energized becomes closed, which will hold power until it is disconnected up stream via the e-stop. Which now brings us to our light, or load which then ties to the neutral to complete the circuit. Please keep in mind that this is just a simple circuit and is meant as a step by step process for educational purposes only. All input and opinions are accepted and appreciated, though I ask to always be respectful! We are all here to learn, including myself!

Let's start off easy, try to make a "3-wire, Stop/Start, Diagram"

Your "Line/Hot represents your incoming source, whatever it may be. This is the 1st wire. Then your stop is ahead of everything else. This way you shall always have a disconnecting means at the start of your circuit. Wire 2 comes off of the stop to the start. So now when the stop is closed, (like an e-stop the state is normally closed when not engaged), your start has power. Now to supply power to your circuit/device/light/motor/etc., you engage the start which is what we call "momentary". This means that it will be Normally open or normally closed, (depending on whatever type of button or switch you are using) until you press and hold it. As soon as you let go, it will return to its normal state. Which leaves us with wire 3. The wire that is tied to your start and goes to whatever you are powering.

This simple circuit is the foundation of thousands of diagrams. We can add so much to just this simple diagram. But remember, the most important thing in understanding how to draw a circuit and how to actually apply it in real life scenarios is this, "Either it has power, or it doesn't. It is on, or it is off. Ones and zeros." That's pretty simple, isn't it? Don't over complicate it. Don't over think it. Work it out. Take the time to understand how it works.

*Ps: Yes I know as some have pointed out that tieing in the neutral to the start would "short circuit". But if you look at my description it explains that you would have a device/load/motor/etc (load) off of the Start which would make a complete circuit. This is meant as a step by step process. As I stated you can add so much to this diagram. This is just the start of it. In no way is meant for actual applicant at this stage. Only for informational purposes. We can all learn together. That is why I created the community, this way everyone can benefit. And I can have the opportunity to learn from people all across the world. This is meant to help people think, as well as myself.
