// Question Did this possibly belong to Lisa-Marie?

My eldery aunt passed away recently. She was a huge Elvis fan and had a ton of old Elivis memorabilia. I am an avid snail-mail writer, and as I was going through one of her desk drawers hoping to find some vintage stationary, I found this tucked away at the back of a drawer.

Ar first glance, I thought "Oh neat some Precious Moments Stationary".. But when I opened the box to check it out; my heart skipped a beat. Was this possibly written by Lisa-Marie when she was young?

What do you all think?

Been making my way through this album set at the recommendation of a fellow Elvis Redditor and wow….this song stopped me in my tracks and gave me chills.

I’ve never been a huge fan of this song, but this broken down version with Elvis harmonizing with himself is out of this world. It’s haunting and heartbreaking and beautiful all at the same time.

I haven’t heard anything quite like this from him before….its so lovely 🥹❤️

// Question Why didn't they ever kept parts of the 68 comeback special sets, especially the stage and the giant Elvis words

My guess that they were used temporarily but then after it was over, they took them apart instead of ever displaying it somewhere as the years go on.

I watched Tickle Me for the first time the other night and wow! The songs are great because they’re throwbacks for whatever reason and the whole movie is like Johnny Bravo meets Scooby Doo

For me I enjoyed his interaction with the little girl in It Happened at the World's Fair, the little girl from Speedway, and the baby from Gi Blues when he was singing the song Big Boots

My mom was a huge fan of Elvis and she used to watch these CEDs a lot when I was little. We were going through our huge CED collection and these were in there. The 68 Comeback Special is not the same without the trademark RCA skip.

The 68 Comeback Special disk says that it includes material never seen on network television. I included the list on the back. I vaguely remember someone breaking his guitar on stage and a bellydancer.

Edit: I found GI Blues after I made the post, I can't add it here though.

Got picked up by Elvis in a Tesla Model X
Jet-black ‘68 comeback leather
He was clean and sober
And he laughed when I asked him if it was all worth it
And he cried when he asked about Lisa Marie
Then he passed me the keys and said, "Put it on Jesus"
And we blew through starlight on bricklayers’ knees
And we sang

Is this book accurate? as a new Elvis fan, i’ve been trying to find the truth, and you all know of which kind of women testimonies and interviews that are in this book, so I wanted to ask, is this actually accurate? Or more lies to sell books? I’ve seen some of Alanna books are praised, but this book leaves Elvis as someone I think he is not, so I would love to read the opinions of older Elvis fans about this. Good night!

This week in 1971, Elvis in Vegas. Fascinating audience recording capturing something truly rare. Elvis stops "Can't Help Falling in Love" and decides he wants to do "Bridge Over Troubled Water" instead. He then tags on a reprise and ends with Bridge! Very cool. Aside from "Can't Help Falling in Love" and "Impossible Dream", you don't see many other songs close in the 70s.

Four years ago today… apparently I had plans. 😄

28 August 2022. I got out the acrylics, drew a grid and decided Elvis was going to happen.
And since patience has never exactly been my artistic superpower, he had to happen that same day. 😂 One sitting, from those first pencil lines to the last bit of black paint.
I was still very much in my “let’s try this and see what happens” phase — experimenting with everything I could get my hands on and probably having far more courage than technique. 😄

Someone could say this is not that much of a Wow art piece. And even so I didn’t hide it. I framed it instead.
And there he is to this day, in my little Elvis corner, surrounded by the others, watching me work every day. ❤️

My home office has slowly become a rather crowded place — Elvis has claimed his walls and corner, Axl has claimed the other side, and somewhere in between I’m supposed to be working. 😂

Looking at this old painting now makes me smile. Not because it’s perfect, but because I remember how much fun I was having.
Maybe that’s the nicest thing about keeping your old art around. Every now and then, it reminds you not only of how you used to draw…
but of how it felt. ❤️

// Discussion Lowell Hays Jewelry - Stones keep coming off

Hi everyone!

I have a few pieces from Lowell, a few rings, and a bracelet. On each item, the jewels come off within the first few days.

I am pretty frustrated since I spent a pretty penny on this last bracelet. Worn it twice for about an hour each and am missing three jewels.

I am not harsh on my stuff, and take really good care of it. Does anyone else also have this issue?

// Discussion Elvis lyrics/songs that are insults

Hi,

For a project I am looking for well known or lesser known songs and lyrics by Elvis which could be used as insults.

Obvious examples are: you’re the devil in diguise, hound dog, back to sender.

Are there others that I’ve missed or that can only be found by true elvis fans?

Thank you in advance!!

// Discussion RIP Dolly Parton, but I have always had some questions about Elvis wanting to record I Will Always Love You...

RIP Dolly Parton. You know, I have always had so many questions about the "I'll Always Love You" story... after the movie years, Elvis pretty much recorded anything he felt like recording. When he sang "Get Back", "Hey Jude" and "Yesterday", Lennon and McCartney did NOT give up any publishing rights to the Colonel. When Elvis covered big hits by Olivia Newton-John or the Righteous Bros, and many MANY others in the 1970s, those people were not giving up publishing rights. So if Elvis ever wanted to sing the song "I Will Always Love You" there was never ever anything stopping him. Except the song is in no way suited to his voice or style. So it is a weird story, to me. Now Elvis, thru the Col, did own publishing companies that supplied Elvis with demos, and they did buy songs with that arrangement where the songwriter would only get one third of the rights. And Elvis and the publishing companies did own songs that Elvis never recorded. Sixteen Tons, for example was owned by Gladys Publishing because publishing companies buy other publishing companies, giving Elvis a pool of songs to choose from, though he still recorded cover versions of whatever he felt like doing. Anyway, I guess my only point is that Dolly's story is great and all, but I just cannot imagine Elvis singing that song or wanting to. If he wanted to, he absolutely would have. So I kinda think the whole "Elvis was going to sing my song" is not true; possibly one of Elvis' music publishing companies offered to buy it and she said no, the end.

Does anyone know differently?

// Question If you could see Elvis live, would you prefer a show where he sang more songs or talked to the audience a lot?

Listening to some live shows from Vegas and I bet Elvis woulda liked being a stand-up comedian. He jokes with the audience basically between every song.

Probably could've sung more songs if he didn't talk as much. I enjoy both kinda shows.
