Hand Michaelangelo's David Back Patch

I've not posted for a while, because I've been working on this mammoth patch - Which I've finished now! Took 122 hours and 16 meters of thread just to whip stitch around the edge!

It's going to take pride of place on the back of my patch jacket.

Found the pop art design on Google and kind of adapted it as I went 👌

Além disso, eu nunca fiz patches, alguém poderia me indicar um video com tutorial de finalização?

This is so incredible omg how do you get it to look like so smooth like that

Thanks! I used single strand long and short for the whole thing, and small stitches at that which I think gives a smoother appearance

Did you do this with an embroidery machine? The colors are great!

2

u/Independent_Worry_99 5h ago

No, all by hand! Would have been a lot quicker on a machine though 😂

Holy cow, this is stunning! Your stitches are amazing, I have always struggled with long+short stitches & satin stitches looking clean.. always feels messy. Strange bc all the more complex ones I have no issues with lol. Love your color choices as well!

Thank you! Bro I suck at satin stitch, I have never been able to do it nicely - Long and short works for me so I stick to it 😂

How did you move it from hoop to patch????

1

u/Independent_Worry_99 4h ago

The method I use is super simple - Take it out of the hoop, and iron some interfacing onto the back of the embroidery, which adds a bit of stability while protecting the back. Then cut around the embroidery and do s whip stich all the way around it to close in the raw edge!

So cool. But lord that took long!

2

u/Independent_Worry_99 3h ago

I'm honestly just slow af at this point I think 😂

1

u/Own_Weird8572 3h ago

It’s hard to see detail but is it satin stitch?

2

u/Independent_Worry_99 3h ago

All long and short but more like short and shorter as I tend to do tiny stitches a lot of the time

My fingers hurt at the idea of it
