Battle (beam) graphics

As someone who likes watching the battles, it's often struck me how weak and insignificant the beams look when they fire.

I like toggling on the display of ship health so I can better see how the battle is progressing, but the lines that show a ship's current target are much more prominent, thicker and brighter (not to mention animated) than the beam graphics, meaning I can barely see the beams in the general mess of other lines (which is the opposite of what it should be).

Are there any good beam replacement graphics out there that upgrade those thin lines into something more obvious?

Normally you wouldn’t see lasers in space unless they were targeted at you.

I understand exactly what you are saying. However, once I started viewing them as "cutting" lasers, like a surgical laser as opposed to something like a star trek phaser, I was more okay with them.

When you see them close up slowly moving across the hull it feels more like a precision weapon (which they actually are on the hit chance statistics) and in this way you can imagine them cutting through bulkheads rather than having a "kinetic/impact" form of damage.

Yes, that's my view too. My comment was more from a gameplay perspective. It wouldn't hurt to make the beams a bit more obvious, or the other lines being overlayed over the battle a bit less prominent.

Is this the case for all beams? I personally find options like the strategic beams to be more prominent when viewing battles compared to the standard white beam.
