Advice Some general getting started questions

My partner has told me she likes marquise cuts. I have looked around online and have seen some examples i like, but nothing quite perfect. Can i go to a local jeweler and show them some of these examples, or is that considered bad form? Would that be an ok place to start? For instance, some rings that i like the most only have the standard prongs, but i have heard v prongs are better for marquise cuts...so could i ask someone to change the setting on something to make it v prong? Just don't quite know where to go from here. Thank you!

Ahhh, I have been seeing all of y’all’s incredible rings for so long and I’m soooo excited to show you mine! It’s so amazing to see everyone’s jewelry that is so attached to love, I ~love it.
I’m a big jewelry person, I wear 7-10 rings every day so my fiancé was under a lot of pressure to get me something amazing. I always thought I would have a more unconventional ring, and definitely not an oval cut!! But here she is, and it just feels soooooo me and completes me and I am obsessed haha. He done good. The proposal was perfect too. 🥰

4.01 carat natural diamond, Oval brilliant/ F / VS2, ring size 4!

Thank youuuu !!

Pick One Which ring to pick??

I need help deciding between styles!! I LOVE the art deco target style ring design. I’m interested in either green emerald (it’s soft, I know) or black onyx. I’d do an old euro cut diamond with either. Probably 1.6ish carats. I also completely love a solitaire brilliant or old euro cut diamond on a plain platinum band with claw prongs. If I went with a solitaire diamond, I’d do about 2.25 carats.

I’m afraid the target style ring is too unique and I’ll get sick of the design and I’ll want something more generic in the long run. And if I did the solitaire ring, I could do interesting wedding bands to add some creativity. My friends don’t love the target style rings but honestly that doesn’t matter to me. I’m just hesitant it’s too bold of a choice to love for the rest of my life.

Would love thoughts on which to choose! And if people with interesting rings regret it or are pleased with their choice.

Pick One Thoughts/opinions?

I went for an engagement ring consultation today at Cullen! It was so helpful — I went in thinking I knew exactly what I want: lab grown 3ct, oval cut, three stone engagement ring. Turns out I had no idea what I wanted, haha. 2ct is plenty for me, and I love the elongated cushion cut far more than I thought I would.

I would love to know people’s opinions on these! I’ve ordered them based on what I like best right now, but wondering the opinion of the people! I’m looking for something that is relatively timeless, not overly large or flaunty, just something beautiful and wearable. These are all relatively low profile options, as I’m afraid of getting it caught on things if it’s a high profile.

Green lab sapphire, 14k Gold

I think the little stones are green sapphires as well

I don't know my exact ring size. I will need to ask!

It was crafted by the amazing Oore, I've always loved her rings, and my fiancé remembered that 😊

He asked me in the middle of nature, just him and me, a thunderstorm rolling in in the distance, on the last day of summer (31st August). It was perfect. 🥰

I got engaged December 2025 and am getting married next April - I adore my engagement ring, a blue lab grown diamond surround by natural diamonds in an art deco style cluster ring but I have no idea what style wedding band would compliment.

Any suggestions?

He proposed in the Swiss alps with a ring he had custom made to use my granny’s diamond and gold from her ring, with added green tourmaline (my favorite colour). Low set because I’m super outdoorsy and always worried I’d catch and bash a big ring on things. So me, so perfect! I’ve always loved vintage-inspired, dainty rings and filigree details, so he really got it right! 😍😭

Size 5.5 (UK), no clue about the carats as it was an heirloom diamond.

We met on Reddit 8 years ago, so only felt right to share this here 🥹

Advice Can someone give me a sign? Should I get a pink or white diamond? (lab)

Background: My boyfriend has given me 2 weeks to decide what diamond I will get for my engagement ring. (I have been researching engagement rings for 3 years, so this due date is a necessary evil). (He is a patient man). At the time of posting, I now have 10 days. I am absolutely obsessed with pink diamonds, especially emerald cut and radiant cut. My favorite color is pink, our bedroom is pink, you get the picture.

I am also obsessed with Grace Kelly, thus I want an Emerald cut with tapered baguettes (pink or white). My coworkers...are nosy and I opened my personal laptop on breaks to check out diamonds and well everyone has been giving me opinions. I am not opposed to opinions, as this is my first time getting engaged. Everyone at work knows that I want a pink diamond and many are advising against it.I think I can count 5 coworkers who think the pink diamond is a great idea and about 5 who think I should go classic. Oh, and my entire family thinks I should get a white diamond so that I am normal, just like the rest of my coworkers. I am hurt a little bit, even though logically, I know that their opinions should not affect my personal choices between my boyfriend and I. My boyfriend says that he can't choose for me because this is my engagement ring. (Smart man).Being one of the very few black women at work is not helping, either. I know I am going to be talked about no matter which one I choose, but knowing that has not made this easier.

Having 10 days to decide means that I have got to make a decision: Pink or white?

So, if you chose a fancy color diamond, can you tell me why?

Did you get the choice between a color diamond and a white diamond and you chose white? If so why?

Is my hesitation between the two colors a sign that I'm not ready for a pink diamond.

Some advice would make me feel better. Thanks! 😭

With my ring 🤣

I know none of the details beyond it's 2 carats!

I went into a jewelry store to get some of my late grandpas watches apprised (unfortunately they were all fakes) but I fell in love with a gemstone ring (same setting but the stone was emerald cut). The jeweler was able to custom make it to oval/diamond! It's weird having it on my finger lol

My Ring - POSITIVE COMMENTS ONLY New life to 1946 setting

Just celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary. As an acknowledgement of making it through the hardest year we’ve had, he mentioned upgrading my ring set. We started looking, then remembered that my mom had the original settings from my Nana and Pops’s marriage in 1946.

I brought it up to mom and she thought it was a great idea. We took it to a local jeweler and had it set with lab sapphires and diamonds. It’s actually smaller than my original, which is a yellow diamond, but my grandparents were my favorite people. I lost them almost ten years ago so it feels nice to have something from them close to me.

Size 5.5. Not sure of stone size. Maybe .75 carats?
