Auras sometimes predict future events

Do you guys ever get auras that like make you see things in your head before they happen? They dont always happen but its almost like mental visions of things happening or that could happen. But sometimes it does happen and it makes everything worse. Like I freak out and it makes me feel more sick.

thats wild, i get the same thing sometimes. like a quick flash of something that feels so real and then few seconds later it actually happens. never told my neuro about it cause i thought they would think im crazy

Yeah my mom has epilepsy too and says the same thing happened with her. I told my doctors but I dont think they ever said anything about it. I just wasnt sure if it was a thing that was normal for everyone

I mean many people get deja-vu bc of Epilepsy (me too) So i Dont think it is totally weird that u have that. It might just be your brain not braining right u know

I swear I have felt this so many time, I had my first episode episode when I was I in high school and now almost 33. Sometimes it feels like I knew it was going to happen, and then when it happens it scares you.

I live in a town with lots of train traffic. I know when a train is coming. As in, the lights are not flashing, the arms are not down, there is no whistle or visible light. I will simply think, "A train is coming" as I pass the arms and approach the tracks. And that's when I will see the train's headlight out of the corner of my eye-- as my tires cross the rails, the lights start to flash, and the arms start to lower.

This doesn't happen often, but it happened in a weird little cluster within a two week period. I don't drive at all anymore for now, after a 3-day stay in the hospital for an extended EEG study. (Had 14 focals in 3 days, one that graduated into a gran mal, but in 12 of 14 I maintained full awareness.)

I heard a cat's thoughts in English once. Crystal clear, and no one else on that level of the house with me. Just cats. (And if you're curious, it was, "Mom! Stop!", loud and clear enough that I turned around. All that was there was my cat, bathing her kitten, on the red leather sofa. With golden rivets along the edges. I remember it so damn well.)

There's other minor, minor things, but those are the two big ones. It's not that I think I'm psychic, I just.... uh.... sometimes I'm psychic. 😭😂

Classic deja vu, IMO.

I've had clusters (many in a day), now pretty well controlled. Klonopin works for me as a rescue.

I had unique spiritual and psychic experiences which they call ecstatic seizures. One time I was guided to get parboiled rice (never heard of it) so I got some and my dietitian said it’s great for reactive hypoglycaemia and glucose stabilization. Another time I was guided to get a B12 vitamin in the grocery store (I didn’t go to the grocery store for vitamins) and then after I was diagnosed with b12 deficiency. Whatever the reason for these experiences does not matter to me and it’s not distressing or causing me any harm as I found the guidance extremely helpful to me. I’m a spiritual person anyways.

At the end of 2019, I bought a plane ticket to visit my family in the states for my January 2020 vacation. Immediately got a focal seizure with a vision of global apocalypse where all the planes were grounded and I was stuck in the states. I didn’t know why in the vision, only that the entire planet was affected by some sort of disaster.

It seemed so outlandish, and when I came outta the seizure, I was really shocked and didn’t want to believe it. Although I tried to change my vacation dates, my boss wouldn’t budge so I just flew as scheduled. And then Covid happened so I really DID get stuck in the states. In fact, the whole company I was working for went outta business and I lost everything in my apartment because the lease ran out before I could go back.

So yeah… nowadays I take those seizure visions more seriously (but they’re usually just little things like I should eat more fruit or something like that)

I’m so sorry that all happened to you but it is really interesting having these psychic visions. I guess trust your gut? Carefully!

That's interesting that you have a vitamin B12 deficiency. I have it as well. My neurologist told me that they usually only see this in vegetarians and vegans, because B12 primarily comes from meat. I eat meat, so they didn't know why my levels were so low. They made me come in and get a B12 injection and started me on B12 vitamins, but they did the injection because apparently my level was dangerously low and I was getting very confused, forgetful, and disoriented because of it. 

I have never heard of someone else with epilepsy having this. They didn't seem to think it was related to my meds. So I just find it interesting that another epileptic has had this happen to them as well.

It is interesting. Many people have deficiencies, most common are b12, vitamin d, iron, b1 etc.

I hear you, I grew up eating meat, especially steak.

I halfways thought I was psychic throughout childhood because of stuff like this. Turns out I have temporal lobe epilepsy, but the symptoms were bad enough, I remember praying to not have “abilities” anymore. I wasn’t diagnosed until adulthood.

I was thinking something similar today one time me and my father went toa gym for admission but i had a seizure their the strange part is acc to what i remember i visited the gym saw all three floors and then had a seizure while talking to the owner but acc to my dad we never went upstairs as the moment i entered gym i had a seizure and we had to return without looking inside the gym so i think maybe i had just seen some other version of Myself

I feel like a crazy person writing this, but I've had random foresight like that since i was a kid (and much more frequently back then). And i would think i imagined it all if not for multiple people i have told over the years when these random intrusive images pop in my head, only for their jaw to hit the floor a few minutes later when it happens.

I've always wondered if there was a connection and never found any search results with a clear indication. I even considered posting here about it a few months ago but figured I'd be directed to seek professional help...

I think some people with epilepsy are more sensitive to the energy around us. All brains are on one level, an organic battery that transmits impulses. Those of us with seizure types triggered by brain chemistry are wired differently. We process thing differently. It's one of the reasons epilepsy complicates our lives. I think what you are saying is possible.

Yes, my déjà vu can be so disorienting because I will swear I already went through the experience before. It used to cause a lot of confusion for me when I was younger.

Dan Brown’s “The secret of secrets” actually plays around with a really similar idea through a character with epilepsy, even bringing up the old “Sacred Disease” thing. Obviously it’s fiction, but some of the way it describes that weird feeling is surprisingly relatable.

Yes, when I was in the hospital for a 7-day video EEG, I said, and news broke of a big EARTHQUAKE just hit IRAN OR IRAQ, and a lot died, and 71 villages were destroyed! I went out into the hall and said, " Turn on CNN " because there was a big EARTHQUAKE OVER THERE AND PUT THAT IN YOUR NOTEBOOK! My Dr. came in the next day and apologized! He said I'll give you my e-mail address if you get another feeling again! I said it works on airplane crashes too! As he walked out the door the next day, I was diagnosed with FRONTAL LOBE EPILEPSY AND MET MY FIRST SHRINK! My neurologist shrinks work hand in hand with frontal lobeers

The better question is whether you’re seeing the future… or is your brain processing information so slowely that your perceptions is so far behind what happening that it feels like your seeing the future

I have experienced this. I have temporal lobe epilepsy and this is known to happen with it.

I’ve had this happen before in the very beginning of my seizure journey, the term is prescience. I frequently got Déjà vu during my early epilepsy days and it was profoundly different. I spoke with my neurologist about it and apparently it’s another thing epileptics can experience during auras, although very rare compared to Deja and Jamais Vu. After so many years I actually stopped experiencing anything during auras, just waking up on the floor 😆
