My fiancé and I recently bought a house that had a gorgeous wrap around porch. I had a vision to paint it pastel rainbow as I could picture our future kids running around on it and I have LOVED the results. However, the porch has a few sections that are a bit funky and we are not sure how to paint them??

My fiancé has the idea to turn the triangular section into a prism? So essentially painting it white and gray?

The other part is tough to decide as it doesn’t line up properly with the rainbow colors/sort of extends it back. The plan is to paint the stairs purple.

Anyone have any ideas on how to paint the remaining gray areas??

I am painting the siding. I want to go dark maybe iron ore or urban bronze with tricorn black trim but am very nervous to make this change. Any suggestions? My roof is brownish. Still working on landscaping and other things so ignore mess!

We just moved into this place and I'd like to change the color. I'd like to do something including navy blue but getting stuck on the specifics and what counts as trim vs body. Would appreciate advice and what you all would do. The reddish brown wood in the back will be a dark walnut brown. The windows are white and I'm not sure I can truly change that without replacing them. There's a chance I'll replace the roof color and the brick for stone but not anytime soon. We love our craftsman so we don’t want to do it any injustice. We have the paint colours down to a few we like. I’ve tried to use multiple colour visualizers and I can’t seem to get it right. If any one could give some advice / so it for me I would be so appreciative!

Should I put in a corten steel fountain? I’m building a new patio/entry and the fountain I had just doesn’t go with the color of the house. My mom says it’s ugly and orange and got in my head about it. I think it’s cool and matches the earthiness of the house but now I’m second-guessing.

Before: Soft Butter yellow siding, red door, crumbling red porch and chalky sage green shutters..

After: the blue door I've been pining for, black shutters, porch patched and repainted moody grey.

All DIY and very, very budgeted. I was hoping for a nice, slightly eclectic change for a few years and I'm really happy with it. The lower left blocks and brick siding are next on my list for a refresh (with white and cream in similar shades to their current).

My SO was very apprehensive about the change before I started, but my entire family loves it and says it looks like our home has a little "tuxedo" on with the black shutters. 🩵

Looking to update the exterior painting (and land scraping). Initially looking at Cowboy brown on the left to continue with similar existing color. But also considering some lighter tones. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

New project house I'm working on. Would love some opinions on paint colors. Currently the home uses 3 colors: Siding (Purple) / Trim & Awnings (Green) / Brackets, Shadow board, detail, ect... (orange).

I will likely stay with a 3 color scheme, but need something a bit less eclectic.

AI suggested options that I kind of liked were Olive Green, Cream trim, terra cotta detail (last pic). But not sold on that and would love the opinion of this group!

We are getting several windows repaired and will paint all. The house color will stay the same (HEX F2A97E-ish), and cleaned. We live in Sweden and in my area, there are so many green (and white) windows, we would like to try something new if possible. We’ve been experimenting with color palettes, but the breadth of the orange in contrast to narrow trim has me overwhelmed. Light, dark, vibrancy? Any ideas would be appreciated.

They paid $650,000 only to gut it, replacing real hardwood floors with LVP, painting the traditional brick grey, removing the shutters, and now THE LIGHTS. My friend has been giving me updates periodically and it just keeps getting worse. I’ve been rolling😂

The home is painted SW Alabaster, it just looks a bit brighter on this pic because it's the listing picture.

The original plan was to paint them Iron Ore so that they could match the window frames and the metal roof over the bay window. I like the white and black look but I feel it's very played out.

My house currently has white garage doors. I added black windows. The brick around the garage is painted a shade as close to the siding as we could find, but it’s not exact. I did a mock up of painting everything black but it looks pretty harsh. Any suggestions? I’d prefer not to buy new garage doors. Thanks!

We are working on a new build. I like a clean light interior. Our exterior is green with black trim. Question: Is it aesthetically ok to have windows that are black on exterior and white on interior? 🪟 Our builder told me it would look silly and we should have them black on both sides. We are looking to repaint our house that was built in 1951 and has a bit of a mid-century modern feel on the inside. The majority of our neighbors have very dull and neutral colors, but we do want to be colorful and are not restricted by any rules of the neighborhood. The combination that we are leaning towards most right now is the one in the pictured rendering. If anybody else has some great suggestions, I am all ears!

I’ve always liked outdoor spaces that look comfortable and lived-in rather than perfectly styled. There’s something nice about an area that feels like people actually spend time there.

That’s the direction I’m trying to take with ours. Instead of adding lots of decorative pieces, I’m concentrating on a few things that genuinely improve how the space feels.

The seating was the first thing I changed. I wanted enough room for everyone to sit comfortably without pushing everything against the edges and making the middle feel empty.

Plants have helped too. A few carefully placed ones make the space feel softer without taking away from the clean layout.

I’m also trying to think about how everything looks at different times of day. Something that looks great in bright daylight can feel completely different in the evening, so lighting and positioning have become surprisingly important.

I eventually added a ByteFree outdoor TV to that open area. The placement worked better than expected because it stays fairly subtle when it isn’t being used.

There’s still one area I’m deciding how to use, and I’d like to add something functional without making it visually dominant.

How do you usually balance functionality with keeping an outdoor space looking clean and uncluttered?

We recently did a remodel due to an expanding family and was looking for some input on the new addition and what to put over the garages. We essentially chopped the roof off an existing 2-car garage, added a third bay to the left, extended it out back for storage and then added a new master, master bath, bedrooms, laundry, etc above it. I drew up the plans myself and everything went smooth, but now we are left with a large wall that needs something. Was looking to do some sort of eyebrow over them, but I’m having a hard time finding something that looks right and matches the rest of the home. I threw together a quick/crude picture in Microsoft paint as I’m not really good with photoshop or anything as to hopefully use as a guide. It was done towards the end of the remodel when we started noticing it needed something, hence the differences. Any thoughts?

Any suggestions on a color that is historically appropriate (late 1800s) we aren't afraid of color or an interesting unique pallet.

Existing downspout at far left side of house has too many turns before straightening out and emptying in an underground drainage system. My alternate solution is relocating the downspout to a corner location (see photo(s)) ( I sketched in a more accurate location, preferable to downspout being right in the corner)

A lot going on here. The red brick will stay and the large windows ideally - everything else is optional! We added a walkway that goes to the gravel driveway on the right (possible car port addition on the right). French drain was necessary to the ditch but will get covered over. Raspberry patch on the left can get moved but right now our kids eat them when they step out of the van. I’ll post my best update so far below.

Repainted my wood shingle home and i'm trying to find the best lite sage green color. any experience with Svelte Sage? or Green Earth? (Sherman Williams). my house faces east so gets daytime sun for sure. (i know i need landscaping help. that's the next project!)

This is the house currently, but due to hail damage we are replacing siding and roofing. The stone work and windows will not be changed. The siding is cascade blue diamond kote, the metal wainscoting and roof is dark bronze. This is a guest house located adjacent to our small red log cabin in a rural, pastoral setting so we don’t want it to look too modern. First picture is untouched today, second two are ChatGPT (forgive me!).

I really need help in making my recently purchased home more attractive. As you can see, it is a modular with a handicap ramp. We do not need nor want the ramp and plan to have it removed at some point. The home is located in zone 8, situated on sandy soil and is north facing. I would appreciate any suggestions. There is very little ground before the paved circular drive.
