Google Final Interview Outcome - on hold

Cleared all 4 interviews for L4 position and the recruiter said that the feedback was positive for all of them. However, she said that they’re not too keen on hiring for this particular role. Having said that, she mentioned that they’re gonna hold my process for the next 18 months for matching team roles and if found, I wouldn’t have to go through the entire process again and rather directly get hired.

Never heard of such a thing before. Anybody had a similar experience?

Expecting a Microsoft offer while starting interviews with Google

Upvotes

I am in the procurement field.

I am expecting an offer from Ms within the next 2 days. The hiring manager is quite forward with his excitement, so it’s not a surprise. He wants to move quickly. This is a role that will require 5x in office and moving to a new city. It will be based at a data center. It’s a significant change in my lifestyle and my spouse will lose their job. Last time, it took him 2yrs to find a job.

I am also having a recruiter call for a role I applied for at Google tomorrow. I have already interviewed for a role in this team last year, which didn’t result in an offer. This time, I applied for one level down (which honestly is probably lateral or less in comp—I have to ask about that). I want to see this process through. This one is 3x in office and in my city.

Is it worth mentioning at any point to either of the companies I am in process or offer stage with the other? Is it likely to help in offer negotiation?

What does a strong CV look like for Google PM L5/L6?

I have 7+ years of B2C Product Management experience at a mid-sized company and have applied to a few Google PM roles where my experience aligns well with the JDs.

For those familiar with Google PM hiring, what should one highlight in the CV for L5 vs L6? Specifically, how important are impact/metrics, scope, leadership, and company pedigree?

Any tips on what makes a CV stand out or common mistakes to avoid? would be really helpful.

Google L3 SWE Team Matching — HM asked for start date/notice period, but silence since. What’s the realistic timeline/outcome here?

Hey everyone,

Looking to get some sanity checks or data points from folks who have gone through Google’s team matching recently.

Context & Timeline:

  • Role/Level: L3 Software Engineer (US)
  • Status: Passed technical rounds and received full Hiring Committee (HC) approval ~2 months ago.
  • Team Match Call: Had a 30-min fit call with an Engineering Manager (Ads org) about 2 weeks ago. Call went great and technical background was directly aligned.
  • The Availability Check: A few days later, the recruiter reached out saying the HM wanted to check my potential start date and notice period.
  • My Response: Clarified a standard ~3-week notice/availability window (mid-to-late month start).
  • The Silence: Recruiter sent a quick "nothing final from the HM yet, will keep you posted" note right before the weekend. Since my finalized timeline note, it has been several business days with no further updates.

My Questions:

  1. In your experience, does an HM asking for a start date/notice period almost always mean they submitted the claim in the internal ATS, or do managers ask this when comparing 2+ candidates?
  2. How long does the administrative gap usually take between the start-date inquiry and the actual verbal offer / compensation sync (accounting for Director sign-offs, cohort alignment, etc.)?
  3. For those who ended up with a rejection or headcount freeze AFTER being asked for start date availability, what did that communication look like and how fast did you hear back? Is multi-day silence after a start-date check usually just internal approvals taking time, or a red flag?

Google recruiter screen despite cooldown after XWF rejection. Chances of moving to HM?

I applied for a BD role through a referral but was rejected by XWF (“Not Proceeding”). The role was reposted shortly after, but I couldn’t reapply because of the cooldown.

After the repost, I tried a few routes: followed up with XWF, contacted another recruiter, and asked an internal connection to reach out to the hiring team.
I don’t know which route triggered it, but a Google recruiter contacted me and I completed a ~20-minute screen. It focused on my background, current role, a specific work example, Why Google/this role, and my next career step. They also clarified my Master’s period. No comp or notice-period questions.

For anyone familiar with BD hiring:

  1. Does getting screened despite the cooldown mean I’m genuinely back in consideration?
  2. Is no comp/notice discussion during a short screen neutral?
  3. What are the realistic chances of recruiter screen → HM?

Would appreciate any similar experiences or Google-specific insight.

Amazon SDE I interview experience breakdown - EMEA 2026

I recently interviewed for an Amazon SDE I position and was allocated to the Cambridge team. I went through four interviews and, although I ultimately got rejected, I genuinely loved the whole experience.

Making this post cuz Reddit lacks in info for the EMEA applicants.

I spent about a month grinding DSA and preparing my Leadership Principle stories. Looking back, at least based on my experience, **the LP preparation was probably the most important part.**

I have around a year of experience as a developer, so I had plenty of real stories to use. I prepared them with ChatGPT and Claude 🫪 and made sure I knew everything behind them: numbers, percentages, what I personally did, why I did it and what measurable impact it had.

Every LP I focused on preparing came up during the loop, and they definitely dig into your answers.

**Interview 1 – LPs + coding/design**

The technical part was a fixed-capacity logging system with Debug, Info and Error messages and different severity levels. There were specific rules around how messages should be handled based on their severity when the system reached capacity.

The question was a little poorly explained initially, but after clarifying the requirements I got the idea, worked through the solution and explained my approach. Overall, really good conversation.

**Interview 2 – LPs + checkout system**

Probably one of my strongest rounds.

I had to build a checkout system with different products, categories, discounts, promotions and tax rules. There was quite a lot to implement, so I coded as much as I could and then explained exactly how I would complete the rest.

The interviewer basically said, *“Yeah, perfect, that makes sense to me.”*

Again, not really a typical LeetCode question. It felt much more like solving an actual development problem.

**Interview 3 – LPs / behavioural**

This was basically an LP deep dive and honestly an amazing chat.

I had strong stories for everything they asked and they went quite deep into the decisions I’d made, the numbers and the actual impact of my work.

There was also a very experienced interviewer shadowing the session and the conversation with both of them was genuinely one of my favourite parts of the process.

It completely destroyed this image I’d built in my head of Amazon engineers being these terrifying, unattainable people. Everyone was incredibly normal, friendly and genuinely interested in having a good conversation.

**Interview 4 – Hiring Manager**

LPs again followed by another technical problem.

I worked through it, found the correct algorithm and explained my reasoning. The interviewer checked it and literally said:

**“Congrats, that’s the algorithm.”**

I started coding it but didn’t manage to finish the entire implementation before we ran out of time. I explained exactly how I would complete the remaining part and he made it clear that the solution made sense, so I left feeling like it was a time crunch rather than me not knowing how to solve it.

Then I waited.

**Seven business days later, I got the rejection.**

Obviously, I don’t know what happened internally because I didn’t receive feedback. My personal feeling is that I probably remained under consideration and it ultimately came down to comparing candidates, but that’s purely speculation.

Regardless, I’m genuinely proud of how I performed.

The biggest thing I would tell anyone preparing for SDE I based on my experience is: **don’t let LeetCode consume your entire preparation.**

Do your DSA, obviously. I’m glad I spent that month grinding it.

But none of my technical rounds involved some insane LeetCode trick. They seemed much more interested in whether I could understand a problem, structure a solution, communicate what I was doing and explain my decisions.

I also know someone interviewing for the same level this year who got something around Number of Islands difficulty.

Meanwhile, **LPs mattered A LOT.**

Don’t just memorise STAR stories. Know your stories inside out. Know your numbers. Know exactly what YOU did. Know why you did it. Know the measurable result.

If you say you improved something, know by how much.

I prepared mine heavily using ChatGPT and Cursor, but everything came from real situations I’d experienced at work. Having concrete numbers and strong examples made answering the follow-up questions so much easier.

And honestly, the whole experience was a massive confidence boost.

The role was technically Cambridge while I live in London, and if I’d received the offer I would’ve pushed pretty hard for London anyway. I already have a great place here and live about 20 minutes from an Amazon office, so moving to Cambridge wasn’t particularly appealing 😂

But regardless of the rejection, I genuinely loved the experience.

I know I performed well, I’m proud of how I handled the interviews and the whole process actually made Amazon feel **more attainable**, not less.

So if you’re preparing:

Do your DSA.

**But nail the fuck out of your LPs.**

I’d absolutely interview with them again.

Should I Stop Prepping? (Google Interview)

Hey everyone, looking for a reality check on standard post-interview timelines for non-SWE role at Google.

Recruiter reached out last month for an Analyst role, and I completed my first 45-minute technical screen on Monday, 8/24. Overall, the conversation felt solid and engaged.

Today marks 8 days with no recruiter update, and my portal status remains active (stills says "interview scheduled'). I sent a brief check-in email to the recruiter this morning but no update.

For those who have gone through non-SWE Google hiring loops recently:

  1. Is a 6–8 business day latency standard between the initial screen and full loop scheduling?
  2. How long did it typically take for your recruiter to sync back after the first screen?

Been prepping daily for the next full loop but wondering if I should consider the silence a soft rejection.

I gave my loop today and 4 rounds out of the 5 went very well, basically those could take have gone any better, they all seemed satisfied and happy- but the one that did not go well was with the hiring manager and was the first interview.

He gave me feedback pertaining to some areas on the call itself

Am i doomed? :( or is there a chance?

Waiting on Google SRE screening feedback. how long did it take for you?

Hey everyone, just finished my Google SRE screening rounds DSA and behavioral. It’s been about 10 days since my last interview and my recruiter is still waiting on feedback from the interviewers.

Is this normal? How long did it take for you to hear back after Google screening rounds? Does a long wait usually mean anything?

Any experience helps, thanks!”

**1.** How long did it take to hear back after your screening rounds?
**2.** Does a long wait typically mean anything — positive or negative?
**3.** Has anyone had to repeat a screening round due to interviewer issues?

Not looking for false hope just trying to understand if this timeline is normal. Thanks!”
