Discussion Two Questions

What is your favorite character in fighting games of all time?

And

What is an easy character that you can recommend people who are just getting into fighting.

Mine is Elphet Valentine god I love that little dork, her story her music and her style. And Ryu.

Iron Tager! Cool personality and love the magnetism gimmick

I'd recommend Ryu in most games that he's available in

Iori Yagami. Absolute style.

To begin, I think the best one is Liu Kang.

G from Street Fighter 5, love his style and moveset.

Ryu is prob the easiest to learn.

Favorite is either Valkenhayn in BBCF or SCVI Setsuka

Depends on the game. In SF6 I’d say Lily or Honda is good for beginners.

Lei Wulong from Tekken. Essentially a love letter to Jackie Chan.

Depends on the game, but I always recommend simple characters, so not Lei lol.

Jam Kuradoberi. She is really hot ngl and her rushdown playstyle really appeals to me. Second would be Jack-O Valentine.

As for character recommendation, I would say charge characters. They are weird at the beginning but the advantage that they have is they, at least the majority, don't have motion inputs. They also condition your playstyle to be more patient so maybe that helps when learning fundamentals.

Zangief.
I would say a “shoto”, but I would say today Guile. A beginner can learn charging moves.

Favorite of all time is Alex from Street Fighter. Idk maybe ryu/ken they've been approachable in terms of difficulty across all the games

G, Menat and Birdie. SFV was peak for character roster, IMHO. Easiest would be any one of the shotos.

Ryu and Ryu

His style translates to most games easily.

Iori is like this for the most part (KOF XII  and non dlc Iori in XIII are the only ones that it doesn't). Capcom vs SNK couldn't even change him.

Iori from kof, genjuro from Samsho and kohaku from melty blood.

Easy character: Ryu, quite straighfoward dont have gimmick or any shrange mechanic

Favorite of all time from the limited games I’ve played is currently Sokka from the new avatar legends game, he’s one of my favorite characters already and his kit is smooth as hell. (This swaps a lot it was dizzy the other day and Ken before that)

A character I’d recommend is ky kiske, he’s got interesting things and more oomph then most
Shotos but is simple and easy to learn in comparison to other GG characters. Honestly I kinda recommend starting with GG (strive specifically starting with Xrd is a very harsh learning curve) or something that high speed anyway because it helps you get better at dealing with harsh knowledge checks and high speed, by comparison every other fighter I’ve played like SF and tekken feel less knowledge check losing (I love you slayer but in strive you have a lotta things you can’t learn quickly organically, and that’s sometimes upsetting game design) and more “I lost because he’s just better”

Probably Ekko from 2xko. Teleporting to clones by reversing time is really cool and satisfying. Degenerate af tho
