Scar 15p muzzle device

Probably going to run a surefire for now on my 15p 556. I see some saying to use a muzzle brake as acts like a sacrificial baffle. Does it really matter that much or should I just use a 3 prong?

Both will mount your Surefire can. Do you plan on running it unsuppressed?

If you're going to run it more suppressed than unsupressed then I suggest the brake. The flash hider hides flash better (duh) when shooting unsuppressed.

Source: has a Surefire muzzle brake on my SCAR-17S that I almost exclusively shoot suppressed.

I probably will shoot more suppressed. Especially if I run a brake on a 7.5 barrel.

I have a microbrake on my 556 15p and the first time I shot it unsupressed was the last time I shot it unsuppressed.

I would just go with a 3 prong. I think it takes way more rounds that people normally shoot to make the "sacarifical baffle" have any impact on suppressor longevity.

It depends more on the material of the suppressor. On titanium cans you want to avoid flash hiders since it concentrates the blast into the first baffle. Degrading it faster. Brakes help divert it more into the blast chamber which is normally the thickest part.

On an inconel suppressor like surefire it doesn’t matter. Use whatever you want.

If you don’t plan on shooting unsuppressed then use the break. It probably isn’t going to matter all too much tbh but every little bit helps, especially with such a short barrel. It also kinda depends on with surefire suppressor you use. If It’s an RC2 then the break is fine, if it’s the 3 or 4 then you should use the 3P
