MODS App + Website Self-Promo Weekly Thread

Recently there has been a huge influx of FODMAP/IBS related apps, services, and websites. Many are "vibe" coded using AI. There has been a lot of demand to ban self promotion all together in this sub, but instead, we are going to put it in a weekly thread.

Please post your app/service/website in this thread. If you have a physical product or recipe (related to a product that you are promoting), please message the mods for permission to post this separately.

Please report any self-promoting outside of this thread.

Thank you!

Reintroduction Immediate changes both good & bad

Upvotes

Per my Doctors Orders I did and Elimination Diet over the last 6 weeks which I ultimately turned into 8 weeks out of my own desire. I chose incredibly clean eating & strictly low FODMAP Foods with very minimal cheating or straying into even medium risk Food categories. Over those 8 weeks saw immediate positive changes. Zero bloating, zero IBS symptoms, zero diarrhea. Sleeping better, more energy and even more strength because of the clean proteins I was consuming. I started last week with a reintroduction phase and decided to start with wheat products. Still going with organic, homemade bread & pastas. Within 3 days I have never been more sick to my stomach. I stopped just shy of the weekend, switched back to low FODMAP options and started to feel about 35% of how I felt just days prior, but man, even 3 days of eating a few slices of semolina-wheat bread and some fresh pasta completely fucked me up for lack of a better word. So yesterday I decided to introduce another food group to see how I would react, I went with dairy. Even worse. Clothes I wore a week ago dont fit as good, I have aches and itchy skin. At this rate I dont even want to introduce garlic, onion or mushroom back into the equation. So, my question: has anyone else gone through the reintroduction phase, ran the gambit of foods and just decided to say fuck it and return to the elimination diet long-term/permanently?

General Question/Help IBS and meds ?

Upvotes

So I need to take meds for an issue unrelated to IBS. My doctor is kind of going crazy because every med he's prescribed seems to be causing nausea and a bunch of digestive issues.

Can the quantity of FODMAPs in meds be enough that IBS would be the cause?

Journal/Story Gut motility and intolerance

I had a recent appointment with a new GI and she gave me some medicine to help with gut motility. This has significantly lessened my symptoms. I am still avoiding fructans but lots of other foods that were causing issues are just not that bad anymore.

Just a little note of encouragement, if you think you have IBS-C or chronic slow motility, look into that with a doc, it may ease some of your issues!

I had insane bloating and nausea/reflux a lot and I think it was in part due to not having an efficiently paced digestive tract! I haven’t been woken up by heartburn or nausea overnight since taking motegrity / prucalopride (sp?). I also take MiraLAX as needed once or twice a month when my migraine meds slow me down too much.

General Question/Help Anyone else have flair ups exclusively between 3-6 AM?

Just wondering if this is something others go through. I pretty much only poop between these hours and 9/10 times they're excruciatingly painful and if I don't end up puking I try in vain to go back to bed while I violently shake and feel extremely nauseated, and usually end up just going to lay on the couch so I don't wake my girlfriend up.

If you've had this problem, anything help you at least start going at a reasonable time? Really messes with my sleep and can easily ruin a whole day for me.

General Question/Help Casein Substitute

I work out and do the whey isolate afterwards (hat tip to fodmap app for saying I can use isolate and not concentrate). But before I was diagnosed I would do casein shakes and a banana overnight to feed my muscles for recovery because of their slow digestion. Had a bad night the last time I tried casein and want to know if there are any good slow digesting proteins that are FODMAP friendly.

Mental Health / Disordered Eating Post Gut-brain hypnotherapy

Hello,

Sorry if this is off-topic, but I’m curious if anyone has tried gut-brain hypnotherapy when it seems low FODMAPs aren’t helping. This diet has given me some food anxiety to the point where I feel like I cannot enter the reintroduction stage without having a reaction.

My dietician recommended hypnotherapy, but I have already been in talk therapy for years. Would anyone be able to talk about specific reasons it resonated with your symptom management/recovery?

Thanks in advance.

Tips/Advice Newbie here

New to FODMAP. 7 weeks ago I had a bad case of food poisoning and never fully recovered. I have constant nausea. I finally got a GI and had the endo/colonoscopy. Thank goodness no gastritis or ulcers. Doc said it was post infection IBS - M. The 2 weeks before the procedure I was doing frequent small bland meals, which helped calm some of the nausea. Lots of toast, saltines, string cheese... So, now with a IBS diagnosis that changes things. Since I was doing toast & cheese beforehand with no distress, I assume dairy & gluten must be ok with me. I downloaded the app and trying to navigate while still not neglecting my family needs. Love any advice.

Elimination Phase Do I need to start elimination over? Eating malted barley by accident

I've been doing (what I thought was) a strict elimination for 2 weeks to try to manage GERD symptoms and also identify suspected intolerances.

I read that sourdough was fine for the elimination phase, so I picked some up at Trader Joe's and SWORE I scanned it in the Fig app, and it said it was fine.

Today I go to start re-introducing, starting with a Trader Joe's flour tortilla that contains malted barley flour. I feel perhaps a little more bloated than during elimination so I start to do some research into malted barley, and for some reason re-scan my Trader Joe's Sliced Sourdough Bread ... lo and behold the Fig app shows red for malted barley flour.

I wasn't eating this sourdough every day during elimination, probably only a handful of times—but I guess I'm wondering if my entire elimination was a wash and I need to start over on another 2 weeks? I felt pretty good during elimination but never quite felt completely perfect? I was definitely more regular, less gassy, less bloated.

Curious the community's thoughts. Thanks!

General Question/Help Cheerios

How do you fare with Cheerios? They aren’t in the Monash app, so I didn’t have a feel for what serving size would be low FODMAP. I had some painful gas yesterday and loose stools this morning, and the only questionable thing I ate yesterday was two bowls of Cheerios. Yes I know that was a large serving size for something I was unsure about, and I would not recommend it for newbies, but I am almost a year out from starting low FODMAP so I live dangerously sometimes.

General Question/Help My symptoms

So for the past 2 years I have been having digestive issues. Mainly bloating and sharp pain on the upper side of the stomach (under the ripcage) and constant burping through out the day. It has gone to a point where its unbearable. Just wanted make sure that it could be a sign of fodmap related issues. The only reason why I don't think it's fodmap related is because I do not fart all that often. And from what I can recall the gas produced is mainly from bacterias in the large intestines, hence I should be farting.

Products, Services, or Organizations (not self-promotion) Par-baked sourdough at Chicago area Costco

I'm not sure how long it's been available, as I usually make my own sourdough, but we've started seeing a box of three, individually wrapped and shelf stable par-baked sourdoughs. Brand is "Essental Baking." I've started to keep them on hand for when I don't feel like baking.

Pretty good, if smallish loaves. Only 4 ingredients (5, if you count the water). Flour, water, salt, starter, and barley malt.

I have yet to actually bake one according to directions. I've just been slicing them up, freezing, and then popping a couple slices in the toaster when needed. My only real complaint about them is that the way they're processed, the slices tend to come apart where the loaf had been rolled up. Not sure if baking as directed would avoid the issue.

Anyway, passing it along, for what it's worth.

General Question/Help How to recover from higher sensitivity after low FODMAP for too long

Hello everyone! I started the low FODMAP diet a little over a year ago but didn’t really do it properly with the reintroduction but now I just feel like I’m sensitive to everything and I’m very scared to branch out into new foods. Basically I can’t tell what is actually hurting my stomach versus my brain telling me it will. Also some things I was able to tolerate even a couple of months ago are now triggering me again, it’s driving me nuts!! Has anyone had this experience and is there anything by you did to improve your gut biome? something to help with the anxiety around food?

Im getting tested for SIBO but if that comes back negative I’ve basically ruled everything else out. I’m going to push to get a nutritionist that can help me through this but wanted to know about other people’s experiences!

Reintroduction How did you stop being scared of reintroductions?

I have reached the point where the restriction itself is starting to make me more nervous than some of the foods.

I have a list in my head of things that caused problems once or twice and now I automatically avoid them, even when I am not sure they are actually a problem every time.

I want to start expanding again without turning every meal into an experiment I obsess over.

For people who got more comfortable with reintroductions, what helped? Smaller portions, one thing at a time, tracking, just accepting that some days are weird?

Edit: I kept digging into the "why is my reaction so inconsistent" side of this and found NB1 health. I am not looking at it as a way to magically tolerate foods, but I do like the idea of getting my own gut looked at instead of following another universal list forever. I am considering the home microbiome analysis as a starting point alongside doing reintroductions properly.

General Question/Help Should I stop the low FODMAP diet?

I was working with a dietitian who told me that I could continue eating that food that I reintroduced if I had no bad reactions to them. They retired shortly after I started reintroducing, and I thought I could finish this process on my own. But I was reading online that I was not supposed to do that, and that I should have stayed low FODMAP throughout the entire reintroduction phase. I started a new job around the time they told me this (about 2 months ago) and didn’t think or have the time to double check their advice until recently.

They told me this right when I was starting the reintroduction phase, so I think that means I didn’t do the entire reintroduction phase properly. Especially since I’m reacting to food and I don’t know which food is causing issues.

Should I just stop and restart when I get a new dietitian? It might take me a while because I’m navigating new health insurance and getting all new doctors.

I feel like I’m not even on it anyway because I’ve been eating food that I reintroduced. And my dietitian never mentioned FODMAP stacking, which I think is causing my issues. I’m really bummed about this.

TLDR; kept eating reintroduction foods during the reintroduction phase, should I stop eating low FODMAP until I get a new dietitian?

Tips/Advice Help me! Cant eat anything.

Hi all, i recently over the past few months have beeb getting awful reflux from eating and drinking anything. Over the past 2/3 months it got so bad i lost over 1 stone and become anemic.

Doctors have done all the simple bloods which are fine and i am awaiting the biopsy results from the gastroscopy but this was also clear visually.

Nothing was working until i stumbked across the fodmaps diet but i also still have an issue with foods within this category such as anything high in fat, rolled oats, bread, wheat, barely which i dont think you can eat anyway, sour dough.

I have made gluten free pancakes with maple syrup which were fine and have slow cooked chicken in giner is fine but as soon as i add rice i get acid too but i think this is because of expansion.

Basically im losing more weight and i am miserable and i wonder whether anyone has this and whether it gets better and what you eat? I am only on day 4 and have absolutely no gas anymore which is a miracle but the reflux still constantly threatens me and i dont know why and i am so fed up with it as i want yummy food again.

FYI I eat well normally and i am 5 ft 6, 9 and a half stone so losing more weight is ok but also i dont need to and i dont want to be hungry anymore.

Thank you in advance x

If you were back at square one of your IBS journey what is one thing you wish someone told you, one resource you had, etc??? I find the amount of information input right after diagnosis is overwhelming, where did you start?

Recipe Gluten Free, Low Fodmap Chicken and waffles

Post image
81 Upvotes

I used Bob's Red Mill gluten free pancake mix. Made it a little thicker for my snoopy waffle maker. For the chicken, I didnt have gluten free bread crumbs so I toasted Udis Whole grain gluten free bread and put it in a blender (used Italian seasoning). Typically I air fry or bake but I was hungry so I pan fried the chicken. Turned out fantastic and highly reccomend. For the egg wash on the chicken I added paprika, salt and pepper.
