Old Ben Kenobi.

194

u/DaSupercrafter 10h ago

Unfortunately, we must disqualify him because he is too *G O A T E D*

69

u/Inevitable-Equal-669 7h ago

Ben Kenobi still took out Maul in one movement

43

u/RandomHeretic 7h ago

Just to play Devil's Advocate here, when Maul squared off against Kenobi for the last time he was also way past his prime, he just refused to admit it.

38

u/Whelp_of_Hurin 6h ago

He was half the man he used to be.

I love how Bryan Cranston spent weeks learning to skate just for this episode, he was that committed to the comedy

The way he completely unravels when Lois is away

On the topic of Hal’s that Fell from their prime

I miss the glory days of the Boomerang Bird 😢

u/FishesAreMyPassion 10h ago

He also came from a rich family and they themselves were very well off when Francis was still a baby. I think he was a high ranking corpo dude or was atleast on the road to one.

He had a prime?

570

u/VashMM 13h ago

86

u/AeonsAlex 7h ago

I mean, there's no way present Master Roshi is weaker than younger (and what I assume you mean prime) Roshi

56

u/Devlee12 6h ago

He is. He straight up says he is weaker than he was in his prime multiple times. But his vast amount of experience helps offset a lot of the weakness that age has brought about.

Still insane as a DYING old man. It took an entire Blackbeard squadron to get rid of that 1% HP... Despite he already got magma-fisted, shot with cannons, and half his face blown out.

She's legendary before and after her prime

160

u/Veloci-RKPTR 12h ago

Also related, but on a considerably darker tone, the one and only uncle Iroh.

75

u/Own_Secretary1714 10h ago

It's always been my headcanon that old Iroh IS prime Iroh, while he might not be as nimble and physical, his technique and power just kept getting better.

43

u/Veloci-RKPTR 10h ago

I’d like to think that it’s because he’s much more enlightened and at peace at his old age than when he was still a genocidal general in his youth. Zuko also became much more competent and powerful after he reformed compared to when he was still a rageful prince, wisdom makes you strong, especially if you’re a bender.

Not Toph though, she never stopped being a badass. She’s badass as a kid, badass throughout her adulthood, and she never lost her edge even after she became a grandma.

16

u/Own_Secretary1714 10h ago

Yeah, young Iroh was probably more like Zhao (but more technique), all power all the time, but old Iroh refined his technique and would redirect everything young Iroh would throw at him and destroy him.

→ More replies (1)

9

u/Bo405 9h ago

Young iroh was a sick bumbass who sacked his son to murder people in ba sing se.

Even if he was dragon of the west & commander, old iroh is a mentor of zuko, advisor of team avatar & member of white lotus

11

u/Veloci-RKPTR 9h ago

Old Iroh could kick young Iroh’s ass easily.

When is the prime for Yoda's species? He was still insane at 880-ish but then dies at 900.

26

u/Step_On_Me01 6h ago

I guess around 400-500 years old? If the Sith were less patient, they'd had to face prime Yoda, and whoever was the Sith Lord at the time, would've been ragdolled by some green muppet.

Gerson boom

152

u/NikTheGrass 12h ago

Dude can no-diff Titan being old, imagine what he was capable of in his youth.

41

u/Trenki_Melow 6h ago

I always imagined this Gerson fighting the Roaring Knight and say something like "What are you gonna do? Kill me?" laugh his ass off and somehow still win.

6

u/The_Xenith 1h ago

"what are you gonna do? Kill me?" swoon "Nope!" miss

13

u/H0dari 6h ago

the character we see in the game itself isn't Gerson, but a Darkner created from a 'memory of a loved one' in Gerson's image. Though I don't doubt that the real-life Boom wouldn't have fought the Titan as well

15

u/A_Human_Being_BLEEEH 5h ago

the real Gerson would've reduced the Titan to a paste in 30 seconds flat

8

u/ThatOneOwlHouseFan 5h ago

No he got stronger because he's old

I'm old!

78

u/BeeBit22 10h ago

This isnt his youth/peak but still figured i should add on his battle form.

38

u/Takoyama-san 9h ago

it was so fucking liberating to my child self when we got to fight him. spent years wondering about gerson and how he was moving during the undertale war.

11

u/Ultimate-desu 6h ago

And we only got to see how he moved while being an old crone. His prime that inspired Undyne must have been ridiculous.

12

u/Patraman 6h ago

He’s a monster among monsters. He’s visibly holding back during the fight with Susie, makes hitting him once the win condition, and does less damage the lower your health is. He’s comparable to Undyne the Undying in difficulty despite this.

And he’s really old. Prime Gerson could probably put belt to ass on the Roaring Knight.

5

u/AbbytheMallard 6h ago

I like how he taunts you in the genocide route that you can’t kill him, as he’s a shopkeeper. I feel like the player would be totally cooked if we ever did try to fight him

11

u/RandomCaveOfMonsters 8h ago

This applies more to his undertale appearance tbh, deltarune "Gerson" as seen in game is his hammer animated to look like him and have his memories because it had his dust on it (he's actually never even referred to as gerson in chapter 4, he's the Old Man, Gerson is the lightner that was already dead). His peak power comes from being a darkner based on a guy seen so highly

Grandpa Max (Ben 10)

Was a part of a galactic peace corp and regularly fought aliens. The Omnitrix that Ben uses was originally meant to be sent to him

28

u/Step_On_Me01 6h ago

I mean, he bagged that alien chick, that is proof enough

12

My dad (real life)

Im being partially serious as before he got married and had kids he played basketball, he was really good and still is pretty good at basketball to this day despite not being serious about it, he mostly plays as a fun thing.

He also used to hit the gym and had HUGE muscles, he has photos which we still have of him and his best friend in the gym just FLEXING that stuff. He still has some of those muscles despite not having done serious lifting since my brother older brother was born.

Still total badass.

I may have misunderstood. Did you mean someone who you wouldn't expect to have been insane in their prime?

If so: Stanley Pines

75

Ah yes,my favourite TMNT character,Stanley Pines.

Does this version of Splinter even count? He's only 50, not exactly a spring chicken, but far from being past his prime.

11

u/666LayersOfCheese 13h ago

I think so, considering the lore seems to show him in his prime until he was like 35 or whenever he got mutated (not that he ever really left his peak unless he got hurt)

Alpha Trion, Transformers. Depending on the continuity, he co-led the rebellion against the Quintessons and was pivotal to founding Cybertronian society. He then became a hermit, guarding the Matrix of Leadership until he built Optimus Prime from Orion Pax and gave him the Matrix.

Though thanks to wonky continuity and lore, his backstory kinda changes very frequently.

19

u/Constant_Champion_67 11h ago

Welcome to the fact that transformers has continuities. Pick a character there’s atleast 2 drastically different versions

For people who dont know how sick Silvers Rayleigh is:

  • he was the right hand of the pirate king Gol D. Roger, the most influential pirate ever
  • his main way of traveling is swimming, which is super dangerous because the oceans are filled to the brim with giant monsters
  • he also swims through the Calm Belts, areas of the ocean deemed uncrossable because there are super dangerous monsters called Sea Kings living there who destroy all ships sailing through them.
  • he kills them no problem, even as an old man.
  • him simply appearing during a fight made Blackbeard, a villain and one of the most powerful people in the verse, almost shit himself and made him retreat instantly because he didnt want to fight Rayleigh.

14

u/bugdc 9h ago
  • One of the first showcases of his power was stopping a sword made out of light, we later learn how but was very impactful at the moment

9

u/InternalCapable5286 8h ago

Blackbeard running was even funnier considering Rayleigh himself admits he's not 100% sure he could win, he just had enough aura to psych him out because Blackbeard won't pick fights that aren't guaranteed wins.

Apparently Donald Duck served in the US navy hence his sailor uniform.

6

u/SwimmyMimmy 5h ago

Donald Duck didn't just serve, he officially served in both the Army AND Navy. He single-handedly wiped out an entire Imperial Japanese air base after parashooting into the jungle.

11

u/Dick-Fu 7h ago

And Donald is currently one of the (if not the actual)  most powerful mages in Square Enix history ;)

8

u/Gabriel-Klos-McroBB 6h ago

Note: When Bahamut casted Zettaflare in FFXVI, he was amped by the Mother Crystal. Donald can do that shit whenever, and judging by Goofy's reaction, he has.

Gecko Moria - One Piece

Described as out of shape and incredibly lazy he mostly relies on his army of zombies to get things done and while he’s no slouch he’s still taken down by Luffy well before he had Haki or Gear 5.

But apparently in his youth he was able to go up against Kaido one of the Four Emperors and live (although his crew didn’t)

Sure he lost but the fact he survived alone is enough to assume he was an incredibly powerful being in his youth.

11

u/Fast_Competition9241 10h ago

It's a shame that Oda didn't explore Moria further in wano, I would've loved if Moria wasn't just a honorary Kozuki but maybe a real or adopted brother of Oden

7

u/dull_storyteller 9h ago

I’d say honorary/adopted unless it turns out either Oden’s dad had a second wife or Moria somehow got none of the good genes.

Jetfire (Transformers ROtF)

Apparently he was a straight up monster when he was deployed on the Battlefield during the events of "early ones", literally being the largest on screen non-combiner character in the whole series.

Now despite him being now a greasy old Man, he still managed to rip apart 2 decepticons the nanosecond he landed in egypt. He even managed to score an honorable death, donating his parts to help Optimus and turn himself into his jet mode

(Dumbledore) Given how insane he was still past his prime.

20

u/dull_storyteller 11h ago

The fact Voldemort waited until Dumbledore wasn’t in the school before enacting his plan in the first two books speaks volumes of how legendary he is.

13

u/AsstacularSpiderman 11h ago

Also he was such a wimp he basically had to wait for Dumbledore to plan his own death to take over Hogwarts

13

u/dull_storyteller 11h ago

In Voldy’s defence he didn’t have a body the first 2 times and when he did fight Dumbledore he was outmatched despite using the classic style of pointing his wand at Dumbledore and going Neh really loudly.

My grandpa . He was a policeman . He jumped on a moving van to block the view using his Jacket

7

u/ICookSomeGoodBeans 9h ago

This reminds me of a couple stories from my family. My grandpa was a police officer

One time, a young boy (couldn't have been more than 6) got a hold of his dad's gun and was running around the neighborhood pointing it at people. At some point, they had a handful of people around him, with his back to the wall. My grandpa was the one to approach him.

My grandpa said that he decided before approaching that he wouldn't defend himself. If the boy shot him, he shot him. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he hurt the boy. So he started slowly walking toward the boy from the side. The boy noticed my grandpa, and took aim. My grandpa heard a click, took a couple more steps, and disarmed the boy.

I'm pretty sure the story goes that the gun jammed, but it might have just been unloaded.

Kerubim Krepin, from Dofus. The son of Ecaflip and a former adventurer. He tells stories about his youth that are hard to believe, but those mostly turn out to be true. Shown to be a very skilled fighter even in his age.
