fedex is not comparable to amazon

Quit my first (official) day at fedex yesterday. Warehouse PT Unload/Load shift. I clocked out and left an hour before end of shift and only coming back friday and next friday to pick up my orientation check and $50 check for yesterday. Anyways:

I was scheduled for unload which was cool the 2nd day of orientation when you practice working the job, but my first official day they had to move me for loading because a LOT of people didn’t show up for load and they had to balance the warehouse. They scheduled me on two trucks and had me going back and forth between both of them trying to load the long pile of 40lb+ packages coming on to the truck.

In perspective, i’m not a little guy. 220lbs 5’11 and I workout, but physical labor is different from working out, i seen 5’5 160 guys take trucks on their own.

Amazon was my first warehouse job and I used to shit on it, but the only thing bad about amazon is micro management when it comes to rate and the hours. Amazon designed their workflow to where you work up until your breaking point. In FedEx your breaking point is dependent on your mental, which for me was very weak in a hot truck, refilling my water bottle every 20 minutes.

The only reason why I’m not working at amazon because there were only 10hr shifts available and intervenes with school.

For the record, I feel guilty for leaving my coworkers to the trucks, but the workload is ridiculous, even for the experienced workers.

If warehouses really cared about retaining their workers (they don’t, there’s orientations every week for new hires who stay a week), they’d either add more workers per truck and/or increase salary. Respect to all the hard workers who work these jobs, but I refuse to be gaslit into being called lazy due to the workload.

If you’re planning on working at fedex, either cancel your application, or work until you physically can’t and let the managers decide how they want to play it, but I wasn’t taking the chance.

Part time student offered twice, got picked up, and added back to schedule

As the title says I have literally offered the same shift twice today and I keep getting added back to schedule. My car does not currently work and I’ve always been told to offer if I cannot work because that is the process but I have been added back to schedule twice today and I do not understand why and then they also added a shift for me tomorrow as well. I have no idea how to contact my HR and we just got a new manager as well and this is incredibly frustrating and unfair. If I’m not taken off schedule I’m gonna call off and wait for a phone call from my manager and tell them that they can’t do this to me or something. Does anybody have any idea how I can contact my hubs HR without having to go in?

Terminated on Day 9 of Package Handler training for safety violation (improper bending)

Hey everyone,
I was working as a Package Handler at a FedEx Express here in Canada. Today was my 9th day of actual training, and I was terminated today because of a safety violation. A manager told me I wasn't bending/lifting properly to grab boxes, and they told me not to come in tomorrow.

This was the only job I had, and the job market right now is really tough, so I’m pretty stressed out.

My questions are:
- Since it was just an improper bending technique during my training week, am I completely banned, or can I reapply in the future?
- If I can reapply, how long do I have to wait for the system to let me back in?

Any advice or insight from other Canadian package handlers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Does FedEx Office drug test new hires for weed?

I'm in Massachusetts, and was recently hired for the retail sales associate position. There is a pre employment drug screening however, and I'm worried that weed is part of the drug screening. I have googled other threads, but there is conflicting information on this (some say only delivery drivers or people who gave to adhere to DOT regulation are tested for weed). Does anyone for sure know the answer to this?

airport material handler "full time"

why is it 35 hours and 'full time'? supposed to be 7pm - 1am 5 days a week? im assuming it wont be full 6 hours everyday anyway?

do material handlers use the app for claiming shifts the same way as package handlers?

Can yall take meds?

Serious question.

Does anyone take any SSRI or something along mood stabilizers for this job?

And if so has it helped you to perform better at this job?

Live help for password reset number?

So today is my last day of FMLA, I'm supposed to return to work tomorrow. They have my doctor's note and know I'm coming back. The schedule admin said he'd put me back onto the schedule. I still can't get back into blue yonder app.

I called our HR and all she said was to call password reset number, press 1 and wait for live help. I pressed 1 but there's no live help available.

Am I missing something?

This is a critical package!

Like... yeah... that's kinda why I'm scanning it to deliver it. Actually, you're just slowing me down making me click through this garbage. What's the point of a "critical package"? Why not just have it be release on first attempt?

Airport hiring process time

I accepted an offer for airport materials handler a few weeks ago on the 12th and haven’t been contacted. I completed the background paperwork on the 15th and I took a drug screening on the 19th. I received a email copy of the background check on the 18th and a text on the 22nd saying my background check was completed successfully and will be updated soon. How long does it usually take ? I’ve worked as a package handler and was reached out by email days later. Everything is automated so there’s no one to actually contact so I’m not sure what to expect.

Package Handler Paystubs

Does anyone know how to view paystubs? I'm a package handler in CT if that helps. Not a lot in the ways of HR in my warehouse. Thanks in advance!

Schedule still gone

I came back from leave 8 days ago. I recently signed back in to the app after resetting my password. I’ve been working normally, as my friend tells me what time sort starts. I can clock in and my badge lets me in the building, but the app says I have no shifts all week. I was trying to call off and was just wondering if I’d get in trouble for not going in.

Nonworkers comp injury

Hello, this is my 3rd time working at the hub and I've been here this time so far for 6 months now.

I came into this job with carpal tunnel syndrome (moderate level) and tennis elbow (golfers elbow) injury from my previous job. It has been progressing to severe with muscle wasting in my hands and pain increase in my elbow. My prtho doctor has me on a lift restriction right now because we will be trying a procedure on the 10th for my elbow to decrease pain. So the restriction is to get me ready for the procedure and minimize firther injury to have a successful procedure. My lift restriction is no lifting, pulling pushing greater than 10lbs.

I got moved to the smalls department after handing in my paperwork and restriction...HR was to be given that paperwork...Hub managet never gave it to HR, I got a nasty email from HR stating they need the documentation or escalation will occur.

I emailed HR that paperwork immediately directly.

I handed in my restriction on the 20th of August. It's now 10 days later....someone coded my schedule wrong and has me scheduled in unload, I came from load side and its also locked to unload. I can't pick up shifts in smalls department nor am I being schedule on the roster for smalls department. I have been in smalls since the 20th when I got mived there after handing in my paperwork.

What else can I do? I emailed HR to forward my issue with central who does the scheduling....I talked to my smalls department manager and my old manager in load side as well. Still nothing is being done.

I went from working and scheduled more than 20 hours wven though I am part time package handler on midnight sort....too now I can't even get scheduled more than 10 hours in a department my restriction won't allow.

I feel like I am being pushed out the door. I am one of the greater package handlers on midnight sort and have been getting inclines for management positions and good recommendations to central from managers for supervisor position....but given my possible surgery for both carpal tunnel and tennis elbow....I am feeling indifferent about this altogether.

What else can I do or who else can I talk to? Should I go higher up? Or just take the L and look for employment elsewhere?

Jumping with a road raging perv

So I just finished up week two of my training, havent had much driving time so the assistant manager of my contractor decided to take over yesterday and have me jump for him.

He always seemed nice before, so I had faith that he was actually going to let me do it and teach me, but we ended up with me doing about fifteen stops and him road raging the entire day.

He floored it through neighborhoods and ran stop signs and got antsy with me for not pulling out in front of people.

Any time a woman answered the door he would get back in the car and say something filthy about her.
We pulled up to a convenience store and he said a bunch of racist stuff about the indian guys that worked there.

The rest of the people I've jumped with were not like this but I wanted to be out of that vehicle so bad.

I'm trying to follow protocol and drive responsibly and when I asked him for help with directions he would grunt and then yell at me for not understanding.

At the end of the day he was back to his nice self and told me I did fine but it seemed like one unmanifested package absolutely ruined his mood and he was on the phone with somebody ranting about how stupid the new hires are right in front of me.

I don't know what to do, I'm probably gonna have to work with him again on monday ad he hasnt figured out yet that I'm a trans guy but from the things he's said I'm guessing thats gonna be a huge problem for him.

We delivered what seemed to be a sex toy to one house and he went off about how its ok for women to use them but not if its for a woman to use on her man.

I know I need to speed up but he scared the crap out of me yesterday and it was hard to concentrate on the job because of his inappropriate behavior.
