Been keeping this container plant in a constant state of drought stress to see how the flavors compare. Drought stress figs are smaller, but taste better. They really peak in flavor once they start to desiccate a bit on the tree.

Fruit not ripening it is just plumping up turning yellow and then falls off.

A fig tree with a single trunk, more than 80cm in diameter (>32 inch), 10 meters tall, and still producing tons of delicious fruits, growing in country side in Cesena, northern adriatic. Estimated age?

Is this rounded spade shape leaf a virus problem? this 2 year old tree is waking up in spring. other leaves seem to be the normal 3 finger shape

We didn't cover it as well as we usually do last winter I was a little worried but she bounced back nicely. I grew her from a little cutting from a family member who is no longer with us so I'm not sure of the variety. I do have a baby Chicago hardy in a pot that I hope to add to our collection. Pup for scale shes 90lb 😂 kinda surprised me when she popped out while I was taking the photo.

Here in zone 6A/B having my first I 258 and Black Madeira getting ripe. I think a few more days on each and then my first tasting experience with either one. The rest of my trees have been producing for a couple of weeks now but these are what i have been waiting for.

This year was pretty hard even for figs, they managed to survive the drought and hot weather but they fruited very early and are already losing their leaves.

But the harvest was good and I dried most of it, some under the sun, some in a dehydrator at 50°. Afterwards I put them in a jar for a few days that I shake daily to distribute the moisture and then in a vacuum bag.

I have 3 trees planted in the 90s (and one caprifig) of three famous central Italian varieties.

Couple of weeks ago I came to thus sub with some questions and pics (first two). Our figs looked like they were almost dead. After some tips and feedback I removed the bottom green, drilled drainage holes and added a good amount of food rich soil. I also removed all the yellow leaves wich basically came off right away. I was left with just the stem and branches. Now, a couple of weeks down the road. Many days of sun and some with rain, this is the result. I am rally happy and surprised. All thanks to this sub! I was recently inspired to plant my first fig tree as we are ending winter here in nsw Australia. I have always been a fan of white figs (in my mind there was only white figs) and after doing a bit of research and seeing what my local nurseries have, it came to choosing between Ficus Carica 'White Genoa' and Ficus Carica ‘White Adriatic’. I am leaning toward the genoa figs.

Being completely new to planting anything, I could only rely on AI so far to help inform me. Given where I am living, it would be hard to find a place to plant the tree that gets plenty of sun whilst also being mindful of underground pipes and damage the roots might cause.

AI did suggest using a 100 litre (26.5 gallon) fabric pot to plant the tree in and thats where i am stuck, would the pot be a permanent solution, im hoping to grow a healthy tree that will hopefully last a long time.

Looking for any and all advice on whether I am making the right choices and how to go about buying from plant nursery and moving to the fabric pot (if that is the way to go) as well as what else should I buy, fertiliser, mulch potting mix etc. Thanks in advance for help everyone

This is an Olympian Fig cutting that’s about a year old. My first thought was it’s a sucker and remove it but the more I study it the more it looks like a good branch.

Lost a few figs to the squirrels.

I love the warm / coconut-y smell you get near fig trees, but I think not all figs have this smell.

Would love to know which varieties to look out for? I'm in London UK (USDA Zone 9a). My garden is sheltered, and can get pretty hot and dry in summer. Planting in the ground.

I like figs that taste berry / jammy, but in all honesty I'll prioritize the lovely smell.

Hello all! I’m very new to Figs. This tree is from George Washington’s Mount Vernon. The tree has been potted and thriving since we got it in June. It’s more than doubled in size. Today I noticed this change in leaves. We live in Ohio and I’m planing to keep it potted/ move it indoors for winter.

Does any recognize this issue? Should I be concerned? What can I do?

I have a massive fig tree in my backyard. For years I let it grow however it wanted, but it keeps expanding its footprint every year and swallowing more of my yard. I'm thinking of cutting its bottom branches so I can walk under it. I'm afraid it will hurt the tree since it is so well established. Any tips? Photo of my backyard monster:

My fig tree was damaged by some workers about 2 months ago. I found it with the main branch bent down and a 3 inch section of the bark peeled up. There was only a small strip of bark around the back of the branch that was still attached.

In an attempt to save the branch I pressed the peeled bark back in place and wrapped the damage section with 'grafting tape'.

The tree has appeared healthy this entire time. No wilting leaves or other signs of stress.

I am worried though by how the damage section looks dead and the thickening of the branch on either side of the wound.

I just unwrapped the tree today. It was slightly moist under the wrap, but did not have any rot smell.

Should I re wrap it? Or leave it be?
