Look I’ll delete this whenever April post it themselves…but I woke up to find this on my feed and it made me almost weep.
This song used to kill me. When I was free, inside, and after being released. I’ve seen what happens when you throw urine in a wardens face Lol and also the dignity of refusing to submit.
To me it symbolizes the futility of words in a world that needs action. Whether it be the act of love, the act of mutual aid, or physical action. We have it within us, but it can’t stay there. It has to be shared
Enough of my emotional rant.

Hey! My name is C.W. Headley and here’s a song I wrote called Old Cartoons (It Doesn’t Get Better) about intrusive thoughts.

I went to a ramshackle glory show in Oakland in 2012
Attached is a picture of a fence outside the house/venue
Can anyone tell me who played with them if anyone? What venue this was? And what this patch is from?I know it probably shouldn’t be on my vest if I’m not 100% sure but this was my first ever vest.

The first time we played with the full lineup at a big event, it was a viking event, we played with folk metal bands like Crisaor and Narn, famous folk metal bands here in Brazil.
It was also the band's 1st anniversary, with lots of beer and mead

Hey ya’ll, I don’t play music anymore but I just came across this lovely subreddit and it had me reminiscing about playing my acoustic and happy screaming. I found this buried in my photo album but I never posted it anywhere. I feel like maybe this sub could have been a home for it? Sorry if it doesn’t fit.

Hey gang, this is a song from my band, The Limes, about not giving up. Shit is hard out there, but we have no choice but to forge on and do what we can to stop everything from going to complete shit.
If you like it, you can watch the full video in all of its horizontal glory on our youtube channel!
and if you REALLY like it, you can follow us on ig! We've got a bunch of California shows coming up soon, would love to see y'all there!

Does anyone remember who put out those short videos of himself singing while animated by stop motion drawings on post-it notes?
I intended to purchase an album or something of his, but couldn't find anything at the time.

There's some folk punk in this month's column.

So got into a discussion with a band mate recently because I was thinking about adding John Brown's Body to a set list. I thought it would be fun to be in that Pete Seeger tradition and I figured we could get the audience to join in on the chorus. She said that the religious elements would put folks off in the folk punk scene.
I know we could just play Solidarity Forever, but I wanted y'all's thoughts. Do religious elements in older songs put you off? Should they still be played and talked about in the folk punk scene? Should we re-write the lyrics to keep the historical bits and secularize the chorus?
