Kouraku in Hachioji might be a ramen joint, but don't sleep on their curry.

Grabbing a drink at Otonba in Ameyoko, Ueno... Their Chire (pork spleen) yukhoe starts off soft and airy, followed by a delicious, meaty texture.

Hakata-style Tonkotsu Ramen near Kanda Station

I saw people posting about this place on reddit, and it's not far from where I'm staying, so I decided to check it out.

The broth is rich and flavorful, perfectly balanced with the taste of mentai (cod roe). Overall, it’s pretty tasty.

The only thing I didn't really like was that the noodles were a bit too soft; if I get a chance to eat there again, I'll ask for firmer noodles.

The stewed chicken at Yakitori-Don never disappoints! Today I went with extra green onions and a dollop of Japanese mustard. The skirt steak skewered with a mountain of green onions hits the spot, too.

The miso-marinated skirt steak was definitely today's highlight! It has a Gochujang-based sauce with a refreshing sweetness. The skirt, tongue, and heart were all delicious, too.

Recs for leisurely lunch along tsukuba express

Any recs for a lunch you don't have to eat fast along the tsukuba express between, say, Akihabara and moriya? Any cuisine welcome, including cafe with decent food, just don't want to get kicked out because someone needs the chair at lunch... thanks!!

Cute little ramen shop in the middle of nakame

If you like super thick & rich ramen, this is the place to go. The broth was almost solid and packed with flavor, and the pork was incredibly fatty.

I was also really impressed by their karaage. It was really light in color, not sure if it's their batter or the oil they use, but it tastes a lot better than it looks (don't worry it was fully cooked through).

The second teriyaki chicken sandwich from the left is my top choice. If it's there, I go for it without a second thought! Having it with a rich minestrone makes it unbeatable.

Having a drink in Asakusa! Enjoying seared "tanshita" (the muscle under the beef tongue), tossed with ponzu and grated daikon radish. Time to dig in!

The stir-fried bean sprouts will make you question what a "half portion" even means. The motsu-nikomi (offal stew) uses a salt-based broth instead of miso, truly letting the ingredients shine. These are absolute must-orders.
