2023 Explorer Windshield

Has anyone else had a windshield replacement on their explorer? I took my 2023 explorer to an auto glass earlier this month and had a complete replacement since it had a crack that’s more than 6” long. I’ve noticed since the replacement driving in the freeway there’s a noticeable loud wind sound because of the gap between the panels, with the original windshield the gap was closed.

Anyone else got their windshield replaced? I’m thinking of getting some gaskets seals to cover the gap just to get rid of that noise. Any advice is appreciated!

Edit: apologies for not being clear as posting this at 11pm, i wasn’t processing my words correctly. There’s no air leak, moisture or water leak inside after taking it to the car wash. I noticed that the new windshield there’s gap on the sides and it’s both on left and right side. Top and bottom looks filled correctly, the original windshield had no gap. I guess my follow up question would using a window ribbon like this possibly solve the noice issue?

I’m also considering taking it back to the auto glass place to have it redone.

Have the shop redo it. If you’re hearing wind, it’s not sealed right and moisture is getting in.

Thanks for that insight. Sorry I wasn’t clear in my original post and didn’t include it, there’s no moisture or leak I took it to a touch less car wash few days after the replacement and no leak or moisture.

I've had windshield replaced and didn't experience any wind noise. Take it back to the windshield place to have them fix it.

Did you claim it under the manufacturers warranty?

No. When I bought the car it had the glass replaced with non OEM glass. They didn't install it properly and the glass cracked when the car went up a lift. I replaced it with OEM glass. It's been on a lift a few times since then and no issues.

I had one replaced on a 2025 under warranty. No problems since.

I would get a roll of wide masking take and cover a gap at a time to confirm where the noise is coming from; add tape drive, remove, etc etc - then go back and see if they can do anything to help with the area causing an issue.

Got my '22 in brand new May... 5 days later I ran it through its first car wash (at a brand new standalone tunnel wash that had opened a few weeks earlier in my town.) When I got out the other end, there was a crack in my windshield. Didn't even have 1000 miles yet.

I called the dealership. They told me I had to run it through insurance. I told them I needed them to see it before any decisions are made. It had cracked on the *inside* of the glass, there was no damage to the outside. It was replaced under warranty. Haven't had an issue since... but I did hear that windshield quality has been going down in general.
