- Do you feel disconnected and isolated and want to become connected with your local communities?

- Are you interested in strengthening our communities resilience to economic pressures?

- Do you feel that the government is ineffective, doesn’t listen to its citizens, and want to know why?

- Do you think that we should have more say in the workplaces? That the bosses are taking advantage of our need for a paycheck?

- Do you think that we should all have access to the basic aspects to live a good life?

- Do you think that our natural environment is being severely harmed and want to work towards bettering it?

If so, join us as we discuss the causes of these issues, explore solutions, and build networks with one another to overcome these issues from a Libertarian Socialist/Anarchist lens.

We currently meet bi-weekly, first meeting is Sept 7th, in COS East Library from 6pm to 7pm. For anyone unfamiliar with anarchism, we recommend reading Are You An Anarchist? The Answer May Surprise You! by David Graeber prior to the meeting. At the meeting, we will be reading the work You May Already Be An Anarchist by The Slow Burning Fuse as well as determining the content of the subsequent meetings. Links to the texts are provided below.

Friends, we gather not in mourning but in gratitude for Dolly Parton

The Appalachian force of nature who proved that individual talent, grit, and voluntary exchange can build empires of joy without asking permission from any central planner. Born into genuine poverty in the Smoky Mountains, Dolly never waited for government programs to lift her up. She wrote her own songs, sang her own way, and turned pure creative freedom into a fortune. Dollywood stands as a monument to private enterprise: jobs created, smiles earned, value exchanged—all through the free choices of customers and workers, not bureaucrats. She kept her private life private, loved whom she loved without demanding the state’s stamp of approval, and gave generously from her own pocket rather than other people’s taxes. In an age of dependency and grievance, Dolly simply worked harder, smiled bigger, and insisted on the right to be her authentic, rhinestone-covered self. May she continue to thrive for many more years—living proof that liberty, hard work, and a big heart still produce the best songs, the best businesses, and the best lives.God bless Dolly Parton

Kindling the Lion’s Heart is happening on Wednesday, 8/12. If you work in town or just want a reason to stoke your inner fires, you're invited to join us for an evening under the Leo New Moon. This is an in-person magickal working built around Leo themes: courage, creative fire, self-trust, and the kind of heart-centered confidence that does not require an audience.

Wyrd Scouts is a local, radically inclusive community for adults 18+ who want ritual with structure and sincerity. You’ll be guided through a grounded practice, with space to reflect, make a clear intention, and leave with something you can keep working with after the circle closes.

If you're a magickal, witchy person in Manitou Springs, Monument, Fountain, Pueblo, Falcon, or surrounding areas, you’re invited!

Kissing bugs in Fountain

Post image

⚠️ Assassin bugs - specifically kissing bugs - have been found in the Fountain area. They've slowly been migrating from the south. They're here now. Please take a minute to make yourself aware of what kissing bugs are, and the Chagas disease they carry. If you receive a bite - especially around the mouth or eyes - be sure to clean the area thoroughly with alcohol before you scratch it. ⚠️

Art ideas!

Hello all! You might recognize me from my art booths and leaving free sculpts in local little free libraries. I know I’ve seen so many of you over the summer and you might know that I use old vending machine to vernd tiny sculpts (like the ones shown), usually colorful monsters and beasties. Well, I’m thinking about making a machine for tiny kawaii food charms (the pictured beasts are mine, the pictured food ones are not my work, just a loose idea of what I mean). I need ideas for what types of food charms people would be most excited about. What would you want to see?

Art meet ups?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello all! I have a weird question. I’m a local artist (sculptor). So many of the artists meet ups and events around town are about painting or digital art. Does anyone know of groups or events for like mixed media art? Thanks in advance! (Pic of my art for tax!)
