Is phi delt falling off?

A couple years ago I feel like at almost every school phi delt was one of the top frats or at least upper mid. I don’t hear much about them anymore though.

Who cares about the ups and downs of any fraternity at the national level? Guys who brag about their national always sound like they're coping. "We're lower tier here, but we're big in the South." Yeah, well, every national is big in the South, and no, we're not hosting a 3-way with you

There’s absolutely zero consistency across chapters in the same state, let alone nationally. Phi Tau is huge nationally and at our university they were absolute goobers who could barely manage twenty actives, they were a glorified DND club with letters

Can confirm. I'm a Phi Tau. About 25 years ago a bunch of guys from my chapter went to a regional convention and rolled up with roughly 20 of our guys to a chapter a couple of hours away. Their house was dope and it was in a prime location right on frat row

The boys in the house were a little lame. So, me and the guys I'm with decided we were going to take a break and go introduce ourselves to some of the local srats

Met a bunch of really cool ladies (we got serenaded by one house's pledges as they were having a sleepover that night. The sisters invited us in for a drink and song [I Touch Myself]) and invited two of the sotorities back to the house that night. What was horrifying was when I was introducing ourselves saying we were visiting our bros from out of town the sotorities had no idea there was a Phi Tau on campus. It was embarrassing as hell

We roll back to the house and tell them we've got some of the sororities coming by that night. They were excited but completely flabbergasted. They asked how we did it. I just looked at my boys and at them and said, "We went to their house, knocked on the door, introduced ourselves, and invited them over."

It's like we had shown in them fire for the first time.

Had a great time with the ladies, but those guys were absolutely hopeless even with all the tools they had at their disposal

Edit: One last thought, I never considered us huge nationally. It's a surprise to me that anyone views us that way

Yeah I moreso meant big like well known nationally but your actives number is shockingly low, like less than half of ours. I guess a lot changes over the years, I graduated ten years ago haha

Don’t think we are huge nationally especially since nationals pulled FSU’s charter. What big old row houses do we even have left?

A lot of their better/bigger chapters have been kicked or rebooted in the last decade. Ask me how I know

That’s tough. Sounds like SAE post Oklahoma when they were looking for any reason to ax chapters. Over the span of like five years we lost Cornell (for a good reason), Dartmouth, UNC for some real petty stuff, Texas Rho, Vandy, Idaho, and USC.

Yeah I don’t know what started it. My chapter was actually the year after I graduated. But while I was in off the top of my head, Oregon, Oregon State, UCSB, Baylor, TCU, LSU all either got revoked or had full member shop review in like a 2 year span. LSU you being the only one that like 110% deserved it

Definitely did not help. Of all the chapters to bring about hazing legislation, I would’ve never guessed it would’ve been LSU Phi-Delt.

It seems like a lot of their super strong chapters have been getting kicked off the past 10 or so years and either reinstating or waiting to come back. Some of the ones that have been refounded in the past few years have been off to great starts with high numbers though.

ATΩ at University of Tennessee (Knoxville) is just now getting rechartered, ATΩ at MTSU (Murfreesboro) has 100+ members, and ATΩ at Austin Peay (Clarksville) just lost their charter. Nationally a top 10 biggest frat. Those rankings really don’t mean much, it’s all about the quality of individual chapters tbh. Love all my brothers tho.
