Getting excited (and a little nervous) about Thursday night, how we all feeling purple crew?

I have had to go to Melbourne on Thursday for work so won’t be able to go to the game (sorry, my member ticket has already been taken 😅). Wondering if there is a Freo leaning bar near the Melbourne CBD that won’t be packed with hawks supporters?

I'm heading to the game this Thursday and wanted to check if there’s an official member meet-up spot beforehand where everyone walks over to the stadium together.

I heard about a "bandwagon walk" mentioned on ABC Radio (details in the link), but I wanted to see if there is a more established or widely recognized supporters' march to the venue.

September 1, 1996. Round 22 of the 1996 AFL season. On this date 30 years ago, the Fitzroy Football Club played its final AFL game ever before its AFL side was merged into Brisbane. And its final opponent was none other than the newest team on the block, the Fremantle Football Club at Subiaco Oval in Perth.

Despite losing its final game by 86 points, Fitzroy did win the final quarter outscoring the Dockers by 2 points in the final term 29 to 31 making it fitting of a Blaze of Glory.

It wouldn't be the only time that season where both clubs faced each other, in Round 8 at the Whitten Oval, Fitzroy pulled off a huge upset by toppling Fremantle by 31 points, thus marking the Roys Boys final victory in VFL/AFL.

During a trying turbulent final season for the foundation VFL/AFL club Fitzroy, in the midst of financial collapse and an uncertain future.

Obviously a fair few of us missed out on tix for this Thursday, so I’m hoping to find a pub with a really good watch party for the game. Big TV lots of people and a great atmosphere (obviously freo fans only).

Random I know, but I've found myself in Launceston this week. Really should have tried to get to Perth instead (I live in Melb) once a home QF was clear, but couldn't manage it amongst some pretty rough personal/mental health circumstances.

Luckily I've got an awesome friend who has put me up in Launnie until i go back to Tafe in a few weeks. Didn't think thered be any Freo fans down here but a woman complimented my Freo jumper on Brisbane St not long ago. So maybe there's someone from the purple army in the sub planning to hit the pub? Doesn't seem like a huge chance but I'm a bit wary of asking on /r/AFL, it's been a bit full on there as of late.

Would be fun to make new friends while I'm down here :)

To think we are in this position after how we crashed out last year is such a credit to this bunch of talented legends. We are under a week away from potentially booking in our 4th ever preliminary final; a feather in the cap for this group. Hawthorn are no easy beats but the Optus advantage gives us a massive leg up. We are all hoping for the summit this year but I’m really trying to manage the teams expectations.

How is everyone else feeling? In the bag, near miss or straight sets?

I built a daily AFL stats puzzle called AFL Stat Chain, and two weeks in, Freo's sitting 16th on the average score leaderboard at 71.2, well behind West Coast's #1 spot. Salt in the wound, sure, but there's a full season of grids left to close the gap. Give it a go and see if the Dockers can climb.

Needs a little touch up once the artist is back from Korea next year :))
