I started this show earlier this year, and just finished season 4.

I heard next season is the last one. Good lord, they better wrap this up with a good ending that makes sense. I love this show too much!

Please lord of movies and television: do not make this into another GoT, Walking Dead, or any of these amazing shows that didn’t know how to finalize their story.

Please lord! I’ve been recommending this show to anyone, and I’d hate for it to end badly.

Another post talked about the creatures being called "Nightmare Monsters" in the credits. My take on this, which I said in a comment, is that it is fitting if we imagine the circumstances of the original deal involving starvation. Your whole community is starving and cannibalism is starting to look like a potential outcome. Then, the MiY or some other entity appears and offers you the deal for the kids and you become immortal, which also solves the food problem. Maybe they ate the kids? Now, prior to the MiY deal, would you not be concerned about people busting in your home at night and eating you? Concerned enough to have a "nightmare" about it? We know the town makes horrors that reflect fears, so maybe that was an ironic twist? It's just a theory... a FROM theory.

Miranda's painting https://imgur.com/a/FOvveEa I think is her repeating from her past lives. She is bleeding from the eye and mouth just like Elgin did when MIY sucked the life force from him. The yellow background points towards her dying by his hand as well. Miranda dies the same way everytime it would seem. It looks like she may make a deal with him right before death. She probably gets opportunity to save her son each time in exchange to allow the MIY to suck her life force. I guess this is what he meant when he met with Tabitha by the RV and said "you don't remember me yet".

We only ever see smiley grab Miranda but not kill her. He probably held her till the MIY comes to make his deal. I don't understand why he would want a deal though because she is as good as dead anyway. To avoid a struggle so he can take her life force maybe? Elgin basically just gave it to him as well.

MIY really enjoyed taking Elgin's life force. I wonder what the difference is dying that way.

What if the "Anghkooey Children" are not "Children" at all? But Parents.

Whilst the "Monsters" are actually their Children?

What if they're kind of like a "Regressed" version of previous characters, such as parents, who birthed a Child in this place?

The "Born in the Dark and Died in the Dark" is assumed to mean Children/Babies being birthed, but what if also means the Parents.

Smiley was re-born in the Dark - Fatima Died in the Dark, by giving birth to Smiley, that was the beginning of the end for herm

The "Monsters" are very "Child like", wanting people to come out and play etc.

And Fatima's loss of hair and skin markings, right before death and hints at her being a "Anghkooey Child" imo, as we've not seen any Monsters having issues with their hair, whilst we see the Children with missing hair etc....I believe that's a deliberate hint from the Writers.

My basis of this list is how much life they got ahead :

- Boyd and ellis should not die , as if ellis died there will be nothing left for boyd to fight for and if boyd died it'll be too much for ellis as he lost Fatima too .also boyd is the MC if he dies the directors pulling a Stranger things finale.

- Donna might die , idts she got much life ahead 😍💔

- even though Kenny is all alone for now but he does have a life to built ahead , coach Kenny for the win .

- idk about jade man , he might sacrifice himself for someone ig ?

- Tabitha is not gonna die as if she does her children gonna be basically orphan .

- victor might die , i feel like he will also sacrifice himself ?

- Kristi is a 50/50 she is good ass doctor but the sadness of losing her fiance might carry her away ?

- julie and Ethan gonna survive idk their death doesn't make any sense to me 🏃‍♀️

- Sara gonna 100% sacrifice herself + she also dont have anyone out of this place as she mentioned in s4 .

A nightmare is more or less a dream, but the producer told us all the show is not a dream, but why are the monsters called dream creatures!

Did we get played again and again?

A dream would explain all issues we have with the show, like unlimited tap water, energy, food, etc.

This post is meant to highlight examples of split states that keeps popping up

Tabitha and Jim have a conversation about the first time Jim met Tabitha's parents. When she says "I was terrified my parents were gonna hate you," he says "But they didn't, though. She gives a strange look and a nearly 4 second pause before flatly saying "No." This suggests that her parents ABSOLUTELY hated him, and she just never told him. The story exists in two states at once. This seems like a little bit of a stretch, until you take into consideration that the scene has Jim literally tearing off a piece of the orange Tabitha is eating. Now this seems pretty inconsequential, but trust me, it is part of a larger pattern.

Jade obviously has his conversation with Tom about Schrodinger's cat, the infamous thought experiment about a cat being alive and dead at the same time. Interestingly, this thought experiment was supposed to highlight how the idea of superposition doesn't make any sense.

Julie tells Ethan "once you're dead, you're gone," only to be contradicted by her mother, who says that because monsters don't exist, the monsters never killed Norman. Norman is alive and dead, if you take Julie and Tabitha's assertions together.

Boyd and Sara have a sort of strange conversation in the woods

SARA: Do you think they know where they are?

BOYD: What?

SARA: The bugs, the cows, birds. Do you think they know the horrible things they're surrounded by? That they aren't where they should be or... Does Mr. Worm just think "Here's some dirt," just like any other dirt?

BOYD: You know, if you cut a worm in half, it grows back into two worms?

SARA: What's your point?

BOYD: My point is worms are fucking creepy. I'm sure it feels right at home here.

The worms feeling at home in Fromville perhaps means that there's something about Fromville that aligns with the ability to cut something in half and have two equally viable offshoots.

The monsters seem to have two forms, their human form and their monster form.

The creators say that the people pulled in to Fromville are at crossroads in their lives

Sara was able to hear the music box (and importantly, where it is located. it wasn't simply an ambient sound) when they were at the ruins, which suggests that she is perceiving some sort of superimposed, parallel existence on top/undereath theirs. The dungeon is simultaneously there and not there.

So this idea of things being split just keeps popping up. But what does it mean, and how does it explain why Boyd is special?

Well, I think that all of this splitting ties back into what the man in yellow says about the fact that there's no way to change a story once it's been told. Like I explained in my earlier theory, I think he is being more literal than we give credit. Once you literally tell a story, the events of the story can't be changed, but an untold story is malleable. They're malleable because Fromville operates partially (or perhaps entirely? not sure) like quantum physics. Before measurement, a particle exists as a distribution of all possible states. Upon measurement, it collapses to one defined, discrete thing. The "story" of Fromville may work the same way. Telling the events to someone else, or recording them, collapses the wave.

I think that Boyd is special because his unshakable willpower gives him an unusual power over this collapse. He can manifest specific outcomes through sheer force of will. I suspect the town is particularly interested in breaking HIM because this power is a fundamental threat to whatever this place is. But if that's the case, why do they need to break him first? Why not just kill him outright?

Well, I also suspect that because the town runs off of this splitting/superposition, dying with conviction interrupts whatever happens to people who die in the place. The two (what I believe to be) benevolent ghosts we see are people who died with a kind of certainty that is unusual in Fromville. Father Khatri was reproducing the Bible from memory, and the guilt from failing to do his duty as a priest drove him to nearly jump off a bridge. Tom did not hesitate at all to go help get Tabitha. He was unbothered with the antenna experiment because he had his own conclusions about the place that he held very strongly. He converted the gas station into a bar. Like Boyd, he didn't just accept what the town gave them, he reshaped it. But even if this speculation on what the ghosts are is wrong, the fact that Jade and Boyd are the ones that see them supports the idea that possessing a particular degree of willpower makes the town categorize you as a bigger threat.

Boyd went out into the forest with conviction that he would find resources. So he did. He commanded Donna not to die, so she came back. He POSSIBLY made that door under colony house appear. I'm not that high on that one, but I know it's often listed when people talk about this topic. The town needs him to die broken, because otherwise he will continue on like Khatri and Tom, and become a player against the man in yellow, or whatever entity is controlling this place.

The idea that Boyd's willpower is what makes him special aligns with Kenny's claim that people who can't adapt to the place are the ones that don't last. Jade says "I don't just sit around, accepting the world as it is," and he starts to be driven insane by the symbol. Someone like Boyd disrupts this pattern. To be a person that can simultaneously resist passive acceptance of the situation while also retaining their sanity is a very unusual and powerful thing here. If the people are pulled in to the town because of their open-ended potential, someone who can actively control those outcomes is extremely dangerous. Perhaps this is part of why they didn't kill Randall either. Popular assumption is that it's to enable tension to grow, but Randall actually has been pretty calm. Perhaps they COULDN'T kill him yet because he's one that would come back as a "ghost" or whatever they are.

Returning to Tabitha and Jim's recollection of meeting her parents, it makes me wonder what happens when two people remember a story differently. In this place, do both remain true, or does one told version have to "win"?

Anyone watch Archive 81 on Netflix? Different than from, but still weird. People who like from, might want to give it a chance.

Vlad the Impaler killed many people in horrific ways, but some of his brutality was strategic rather than random. He deliberately used terror and gruesome executions as psychological warfare to intimidate his enemies and discourage further attacks.

What if the Man’s in Yellow actual goal isn’t to kill people, but to stop them from coming there in the first place? What if he’s trying to weaken the magnetic pull of the place that keeps attracting more and more people?

Once people enter, it may already be too late, and he has to deal with them. But killing them might not be his main objective. His real goal could be to create so much fear that outsiders become terrified of the place and eventually stop coming altogether.

That could also explain why he doesn’t seem interested in achieving the highest possible kill count, and why all those dumb rules involving the talismans exist. Maybe the rules are part of a system designed not just to kill people, but to frighten them, and make the place less attractive to outsiders this ways.

I think the ultimate goal of the Man in Yellow is to stop people from freeing the children because the children are ... maybe not evil, but freeing them could have catastrophic consequences to the rest of the world. Before you tell me my theory is rubbish:

• If fixes the weird talisman mechanism
• It explains why scaring people is such a big part of the show instead of killing victims fast, sometimes its even much more important than killing
• There is balance of people there, enough people to introduce fear on a regular pace, but not enough to loose control and give them the ability to free the children

It also explains why there is electricity, enough food, and water. The Man in Yellow wants them to survive and maintain hope, because real existential fear requires something to lose.

The talismans may serve the same purpose. By giving people protection, they create stability and hope, making the eventual terror much more powerful.

At this point, Sophia knows who Julie is already, right?

MIY been seeing her across many decades already. She definitely knows what Julie can do. I can only imagine what the MIY felt when he discovered which timeline the storywalker came from.

What do you guys think will she cook to sabotage Julie next season?

Hey y'all, i need help from some more advenced watchers. I have seen the first season and beginning of seconds, and i'm hésitating continuing because i've been burned before by show promising a huge mystery only to be severely lacking when it come to résolution.

I just want to know : Does it make some kinda sense in season 4, have there been any plot point that are resolved? Or is it still vague?

As for right now, i love the secondary character, especially Jade, and really dislike the main family. Do they get better?

It really wasn't possible for Boyd to bring Donna back to life after her heart attack when an AED couldn't. Sophia said that the place is built on rituals. A ritual is just repeated action and words. Boyd twice said "You don't die till I say you die" while doing rhythmic chest compressions. He performed a ritual.

The consequences of that are pretty horrible. Donna cannot die till Boyd says so. She can be torn to shreds and will continue to live. I suspect she is going to have the most horrific death in the entire show. Boyd would have no idea he needs to say she can die, so her pain goes on till he does.

edit to add: Also this was foreshadowed with the scene just before her heart attack with Victor on the roof. he spoke about a man who kumped off and took 3 days to die from the injuries.

On a side note about rituals; In the 50s a school bus got trapped there. It is outside of the pool and it is a 50s school bus. Miranda also painted children playing in that park. The boys were in yellow shirts and the girls in orange dresses (school uniforms). That is not the anghkooey children because they didn't have parks like that then. I think the reincarnation before Miranda was there as well as a teacher. That would explain the age difference between Miranda and Christopher. The one before Miranda died there in the 50s. Christoper was born around 1930 and Miranda was born around early 1950s.

Children when distressed have a habit of rocking and repeating the same statements, such as "I wanna go home" "I want my mum and dad" etc. I think those children created the buildings in the town which look just like their houses. Except the church which is far older. The monsters changed to look like their parents.

We know that things can manifest from hope with the anghkooey children able to create a faraway tree, so it isn't a stretch those other children created the town.

I dunno. I like to think they throw the bones in that lake where they found the dolls. What if that's how they get the man in yellow. What if he is scared of the kids and that's how they kill him

And I've become frustrated with the flashbacks, hallucinations and empty episodes. When I first started watching this series I thought this could be one of the best shows I've ever watched. The first couple seasons were spooky, unsettling and edge of seat entertainment. Now its drawn out and getting boring. It feels like The Walking Dead all over again. Just ruined. From had so much potential and excitement to watch the next episode. Now its all over the with the character jumping and nothing happening. The night monsters are easily the best part of the show and now they only make an appearance every other episode it seems. What happened?

I keep coming back to Tabitha’s memory of herself as a little girl. Some people think this was another incarnation after the sacrifice because of her clothes, but I think we may be focusing on the wrong thing. Why are we being shown her as a child?

We know Tabitha has had other lives, but we haven’t seen all of them. We’ve seen Miranda, present Tabitha and this little girl. What we haven’t seen is OG Tabitha grow up and eventually become a mother.

That’s where Victor comes in for me. We see him as a little boy and then as an adult, but we don’t know much about all those years in between. If that little girl is OG Tabitha, there’s a similar gap with her. At some point she had to grow up in this place, meet OG Jade and have a child of her own.

Maybe that’s what the children arriving with Tabitha’s incarnations are helping repeat. They can mirror OG Tabitha being brought here as a child, but later they can also fill the position of the child she eventually had with OG Jade. It doesn’t have to play out exactly the same way every time.

Even the lone child part stands out. OG Tabitha seems to be the only child in her memory. Victor came with Eloise, but after she died he was the only child left growing up there. We had Meagan, and now Ethan is the only young child.

There’s also the nightmare. OG Tabitha’s memory tells us the place was already evil. Someone was afraid of her dolls, and after they died that fear became a nightmare. Victor and Ethan are also children living in a place that’s already evil, except their nightmare is the monsters. The threat changed, but the story around the child looks familiar.

That’s why I don’t think Tabitha’s incarnations keep bringing children because the ritual needs them. The children may be repeating different parts of OG Tabitha’s life before the sacrifice ever happened.

OG Tabitha was a child here first. She had to grow up, become a mother and live an entire part of this story that we still haven’t seen. Maybe we keep starting with the sacrifice when the story actually started long before it.

Here’s a question or theory, we never saw Jade and Toby see the tree. They just drove toward the town. Let’s just say that they did saw the tree right? But Jade was on drug to remember it, and the fact that he satt in the back seat or laying. Then who satt on the passager seat?
Do y’all think that it was planed? Because Jim was near to escape the town?
