Police vehicle crashes in the GTA 6 Extended Look were NOT scripted + NEW details
More GTA 6 details have been revealed from a private preview held at Rockstar North:
• The appearances of Jason and Lucia at extreme body weight and maximum muscle were shown during the preview, but Mike chose not to reveal what they look like.
• NPCs appear to change depending on the area. Near a gym, a couple was dressed in athletic clothing, while NPCs around Jason and Lucia home area appeared more casual.
• During the gym encounter, a female NPC made negative comments about how Lucia was dressed, leading to a fight. Her boyfriend initially tried to calm the situation down.
• After Lucia knocked the woman out and called Jason over, the boyfriend saw Jason approaching and ran away, leaving her behind.
• NPCs can be approached, greeted or provoked, with different reactions. Mike says this level of interaction stood out even more than the high NPC density.
• Rockstar confirmed during the preview that some characters appearing on the in-game social media feed can also be encountered while exploring the open world.
• Newspapers can be picked up from shelves, opened and flipped through. Mike described them as a type of optional collectible.
• Police vehicle crashes are not scripted. During the demonstration, police tires were shot multiple times, producing different outcomes each time, including cars swerving and flipping over.
• Once free roam becomes available, the map can be freely explored with no regional boundaries. Unexplored areas are initially covered by fog that clears as players visit them.
• Focus mode highlights doors that can be entered. Stores encountered during the demonstration were accessible, although Mike could not confirm that every building can be entered.
• Dying sends the player to a hospital. After being arrested, Mike recalls respawning outside the jail and losing some money. Weapons picked up from the world can be confiscated, while personal weapons remain available in the vehicle trunk.

That was never in doubt tbh. When your physics system is as good as theirs, why would you script car crashes.
94
u/Superus 6h ago
In the scene we he takes down the chopper and then the first police car rolls over and hits a tree, you can see individual branches being shook down. The details are uncanny
43
u/gmazzia OG MEMBER 5h ago
Talking about trees shaking and the realism accompanying it, a small detail I hope appears in GTA VI is cars parked under trees having leaves on their roofs; Watch Dogs 2 had this and I LOVED seeing them fall down once you drive away.
25
3
u/Eoussama 3h ago
In one of the leaks Jason was driving close to a tree/foliage. The car interacted with the hanging leaves pushing them aside. It was my first WOW moment.
1
u/crowbarkeeper 1h ago
Would be awesome if trees werent a static object like in GTA 5 and RDR2. Would be cool if you hit the right tree hard enough it could knock it over.

-33
u/itsRobbie_ 6h ago
Because visually the car crashes all looked like they flipped over the same way with the same animation
53
u/mezdup1 6h ago
Think you need to watch the extended look again, guy
-8
17
u/Careless_Mood_6960 6h ago
you gotta watch it again cause only one or two of them flipped, and one was a truck. the rest just spun out
-6
26
11
5
u/manfreygordon 6h ago
The truck flipped due to high center of gravity, the only regular police cars that flipped did so after hitting something, shooting the tires just makes them spin out.
5
u/crazygoattoe 6h ago
No they didn't?
-7
u/itsRobbie_ 5h ago
A little bit. Watch it again
2
u/crazygoattoe 5h ago
They shoot the same tire so the car flips to the same side, but each one is very clearly a different animation.
3
8
u/cjtangmi 6h ago
I mean we saw two flips both with front left tires shot…
5
u/Efficient-Complex194 6h ago
If you actually look at Jason when he’s leaning out the window, he only has an angle on the front left tire.
2
85
u/jeneschi 6h ago
defo not scripted , it heavily reminds me of Sleeping Dogs where popping the tires of a moving vehicle would send it flying
64
u/RealityCheckGiver 6h ago
Off topic but Sleeping Dogs was a 10/10 game!!!
6
u/Rusty_Hotel 4h ago
It's a shame we will never see a sequel. I fear if we ever get something similar it won't even remotely live up to the OG. Sleeping Dogs is a phenomenal game and one of the few I've replayed multiple times.
5
u/Aiden_734 2h ago
If that movie ever comes out then we might have a chance of a sequel, but I'm not holding my breath either.
3
u/BlackArmy439 6h ago
Yes, especially with Its context sensitive items you could use for takedowns, which would arguably also fit GTA.
18
5
u/Competitive-Rate7561 5h ago
The combat system was so good and satisfying. Remains one of the few games i completed a 100% even though a few achievements were hell to get haha. A man who never eats pork bun is never a whole man.
2
u/BlackArmy439 4h ago
No Wei haha.
I also liked the chase sequences and the story, especially the "Wedding" mission.
That game had a vibe like none other.3
u/Phantom_Phoenix1 3h ago
The fact it was set in Hong Kong REALLY helped. It ser it apart from other games.
I loved how you could jump to other vehicles like Far Cry. Was hilarious.

u/BlackArmy439 7h ago
• NPCs appear to change depending on the area. Near a gym, a couple was dressed in athletic clothing, while NPCs around Jason and Lucia home area appeared more casual.
A nice little detail to make the areas we encounter that much more believable.
141
u/king_of_river 6h ago
That is true since at least vice city. You would see Beach goers near the beach, dockworkers near the dockyard and women with bags near shopping malls.
6
u/SwissQueso 3h ago
I’m wondering if it’s even more detailed than that, if it was worth noting. But yeah, this goes back to at least 3.
3
74
u/Temporary-Shame-1315 7h ago
I mean that's hardly revolutionary, it's been like that since vice city
21
u/BlackArmy439 6h ago
No, not it's not a revolutionary feature more a subtle thing meant to add to the atmosphere but you'll notice it if it's missing.
5
u/TheFutureLotus 6h ago
It’s not, but some very high quality games have gone without doing this. Case in point is Cyberpunk
8
u/Few-Investigator-741 5h ago
Justement les pnj de Cyberpunk sont trop simple pour la profondeur du jeu.
5
u/No-Nothing-487 5h ago
Wrong. It is the case in cyberpunk wtf are u talking about
3
u/Few-Investigator-741 4h ago

Dying sends the player to a hospital. After being arrested, Mike recalls respawning outside the jail and losing some money. Weapons picked up from the world can be confiscated, while personal weapons remain available in the vehicle trunk.
Pretty sure Kinda Funny said they saw them just spawning nearby after dying rather than at a hospital.
9
u/2ndChris 4h ago
Yeah, they had a quote from Rob about it. How it could be annoying, or something, to go to the hospital so they just respawn the player nearby like Red Dead. I don't know where it is in the video, though.
6
u/Millinothing 2h ago
it's kinda refreshing knowing that there's a purpose to actually buying weapons now instead of just waiting to pick one up through regular gameplay, if i'm understanding that right
though i don't know for sure from reading that if the weapons you simply get handed through missions count as personal weapons or being picked up from the world
3
u/JohnKowalsky88 1h ago
I donno but the cool thing about random weapons is that you can just drop them after a robbery to lower your wanted level
2
u/darthgeek 4h ago
Kinda Funny is still a thing? They only briefly came onto my radar when I was still watching Rooster Teeth Let's Plays. After the whole "RT Family" thing imploded, I lost track of them.
1
u/Entrinity 3h ago
Aww man I hope not. Dying should have consequence. And that consequence is getting sent to the nearest hospital.
1
31
u/Wondur13 5h ago
LOL, you can find people you disagree with on the social media app, track them down, and fuck them up

.... GTA has literally never had scripted police vehicle encounters (outside of perhaps some specific missions that must-play). The entire premise of GTA to begin with was that they accidentally built a psycho cop game and it turned out to be more fun than what they were trying to build. Why would anyone think they would script the police? lol
2
u/JohnKowalsky88 2h ago
Because the entire segment where Jason is shooting out of the window is a scripted mission.
3
u/Vestalmin 1h ago
It's never scripted in the way that crashes are pre-planned though. Even Lucia driving isn't "scripted". I was just playing GTAV with an almost exact same scenario with Trevor and Michael. When I switch to shooting as Trevor, Michael's AI took over to keep driving. But Michael got caught on a car and had to reverse and adjust.
Beyond very specific scenarios, Rockstar makes dynamic set pieces that direct the AI, they don't full on script them into complex animations like a game like Uncharted would. I think that's the point being made. If you play this GTAVI mission again, the cars won't crash the same way again.
1
u/JohnKowalsky88 1h ago
No the crashes aren't pre planned but Gta always had specific vehicles show up at specific points during a mission. For example a semi truck blocks your way while you're chasing someone.
2
24
u/TheraYugnat 6h ago
I still hope dying "by mistake" and dying while being "wanted" hasn't the same output.
3
6
u/RockstarSlut 4h ago edited 3h ago
Some of the details don't add up? I think it was Kinda Funny Games (or another one) that said that you don't spawn outside hospitals anymore after dying. Edit: You respawn close to where you died.

The question is does having your own tires blown out also cause it to flip over and explode.

u/LordMohid 4h ago
Glad to see this sub went from total schizo with garbage tier posts to something exciting that is hyping the community even more.

u/Dramatic_Plant420 5h ago
See some similarities to things in RDR2 that make me so excited. Just have to wait for the PC release….

"Once free roam becomes available, the map can be freely explored with no regional boundaries. Unexplored areas are initially covered by fog that clears as players visit them."
Wonder if this is something related to Lucia's ankle monitor? I know there's theories that she may be limited to a certain part of the map during the early game
3
u/Burgoonius 4h ago
People actually thought a game with one of the best physics engines ever created was going to have scripted shit like that?
3
u/ManateeGag 3h ago
are personal weapons just ones we buy at the gun shop? so if I go and buy the rocket launcher and shove it in my trunk, it's not going to get confiscated if I later use it rob a 7-11?
6
u/Hairy_Cable_5670 4h ago
The NPC interactions sound like one of the most interesting parts to me. The fact that NPCs can react differently depending on the situation and location makes the world feel much more alive. I’m also really curious about the social media characters being found in the actual open world.
8
u/No-Adagio5252 6h ago
So far, no one has mentioned the "rob" option in the interaction menu—like the one in *Red Dead 2* that let you rob any NPC. I wonder if they aren't going to include that? That was a really cool feature in *Red Dead 2*.
7
u/CoolCritterQuack 4h ago
why are you typing like a bot
5
u/The_XXI 4h ago
Yeah that was weird.
2
u/Nice-Classroom1189 3h ago
What was weird about the comment? I didn’t find anything to be particularly out of the ordinary with the comment.
4
u/No-Adagio5252 2h ago
I don't speak English, so I use Google Translate to translate words. Can you tell me which words sound like "bot"? I don't intend to use it anymore.

2
u/esoterica52611 3h ago
So what happens if you spy on those NPCs in gym outfits? Do they eventually enter an apartment building or do they just hang out/walk around for as long as you’re there to watch them?
2
u/Agherosh 1h ago
Well.. A bit weird because there's a few things that go against some other people that were invited, like:
- NPC interactions actually having dialogue choices, deeper than "Greet" and "Provoke"
- When you die or get arrested, you just respawn nearby, not in the hospital or a police department.
So who's right, I wonder.
5
u/McKoijion 4h ago
I would have preferred if they slowly released all these details over the previous few months instead of info dumping now. Now that we're close to the actual release date, I don't want spoilers. Hmm, maybe this leads to more hype for sales.
Lol, I don't want to give them an evil, greedy idea, but if I were them, I would have let people preorder the game years in advance and shared upcoming details about the game with people who paid in advance. Plenty of fools preordered the CyberTruck and Tesla Roadster. That's basically a 0% interest loan to Tesla. Take Two could've make a ton of money on the interest, both fan and financial.
1
u/LeBourde 3h ago
I'm honestly thinking that cyberleek might be Cal and tokens of his crypto coin will be trade to GTA online dollar's and all of this perfectly set up to increase interest a few days before the official video Release. In this case maybe we'll get a physical copy send a few weeks/months after the release.
Yes I'm a dreamer.

u/XulManjy 6h ago
The appearances of Jason and Lucia at extreme body weight and maximum muscle were shown during the preview, but Mike chose not to reveal what they look like.
This irks me for some reason.
33
6
u/surplus_steve 3h ago
Right? I just want to know how big Lucia's ass can get
1
u/esoterica52611 3h ago
Quite ample to begin with. When she bends over in that pink dress I got a little flustered. She looks real! Sue me.
5
3
u/alltheothersrtaken 4h ago
I'm guessing they don't change that much. Maybe lose some muscle and definition but not like end up obese or even fat fat if ya know what I mean
8
u/XulManjy 4h ago
That would be very disappointing.
2
u/alltheothersrtaken 4h ago
Guess we will just have to wait and see but wouldn't really bother me, I didn't mess with that mechanic much in rdr2 either.
2
u/Krillkus 3h ago
I'm with you on that.
appearances [...] were shown
But not what they look like? Huh?
3
u/DannySpud2 5h ago
Mike could not confirm that every building can be entered
That's interesting wording, it would be very easy to confirm if the answer was no they can't all be entered.
11
u/Cereborn 4h ago
But yet, obviously the answer is no, they can't all be entered.
1
u/WolfShelby0 4h ago
If it was, he would have said it.
5
u/Cl1mh4224rd 3h ago
If it was, he would have said it.
I assume it just means he only entered buildings he knew could be entered.
Someone even noticed that the interior of buildings you can enter show up on the minimap when you get close enough.
Even without that detail, I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that not every single building can be entered.
3
u/DoctorBen-BB 3h ago
I wondering you can knock someone out without killing them? I always disliked how if someone came at me cuz I bugged them enough that I either had to run or kill them (which in an immersive game feels like I went too far).
1
u/LeBourde 3h ago
According to leek's videos it should be possible as there is a slowmo of Jason knocking a security guard with the gun he just grab from him.
1
u/Randostar 2h ago
This is pure speculation, but since we can now take out enemies non lethally with weapons by shooting them in the knees and elbows and hands (you can see Jason do this in the apartment building shootout with the crooked cops, when stopping an enemy non lethally it shows a green hit marker.) Also during the shootout towards the end of the extended look, when Jason uses the deadeye mode you can see the enemies hands and elbows are green or yellow? I couldn't tell 100%.
My point being, since we can now stop a threat non lethally with weapons, I'm assuming we can also do this when using our fists and feet, again I have absolutely zero proof of this, but it would just make sense.
2
u/TheraYugnat 6h ago
I can't believe they already showed daddy Jason without a shirt and we are yet to see mommy Lucia !

u/SmokiestDrip 5h ago
The police cars that flipped over were shot in the tire. Don't think it was scripted.
2
u/Kendoguk 5h ago
How could it be scripted? What if he hadn't shot any tyres?
2
u/Cl1mh4224rd 3h ago
How could it be scripted? What if he hadn't shot any tyres?
Then it wouldn't flip over? What people mean by scripted in this context is that, if you do shoot a tire, the vehicle flips in a pre-determined manner. That's obviously not the case.

Out of curiosity, has anyone seen anything about the map size in terms of square miles? I’m curious to know how long it would take to drive an average car from one corner to the other
1
u/esoterica52611 3h ago
I saw someone estimate it to be close to 90 sq miles. Don’t remember where I saw it or who said it but that’s all I’ve seen in regards to square mileage.
1
1
u/cherryasss 3h ago
In the extended look there's a mini cutscene where the police get blocked amongst themselves and lose their line of sight as Jason and Lucia enter a parking lot shortly after.
I was wondering what would've happened had they taken a completely different route to lose the police. Would it play the same cutscene but in a different road or something?
1
u/CassiusThundercock67 3h ago
Every bit of new info makes me doubtful my Series S can run this game.
-5
u/creamy-buscemi 6h ago
I will say, I’m the tiniest tiniest bit disappointed that that was peak muscle mass, don’t get me wrong Jason is a big guy, especially in the weird flip scene but I kinda hoped you could turn him into fucking Bautista or something. I suppose it depends on how much the extreme is the other way, like if he can be extremely skinny, because in Red Dead the differences where hardly noticeable unless there was a concentrated effort to make Arthur fat but even then he was like husky at best.
25
u/Lumpiafan 6h ago
I think what they meant by preview was the preview Mike saw, not the extended look we got online. So we still don’t know what maxed out muscles look like
11
u/HerzogOnAcid 6h ago
I think OP is referring to the preview that the other dude got to see, not the one the world saw.
8
u/blueberry1919 6h ago
You misunderstood, peak muscle mass was shown privately in a preview, but the person invited hasn’t disclosed it.
You will probably be able to do a Batista!
2
u/1nTheNick0fTime 6h ago
It says that they elected not to show what they looked like. That wasn’t peak muscle mass in the preview

-3
u/Crafty_Constant_8042 5h ago
Damn, everything said is excellent, but I wish that being arrested was sliglhty more impactful than just "losing some money", or at least had a cutscene instead of just making you spawn by the jail. Tho I guess the game is still unfinished, so we'll see if they'll add more to it at launch.

Is it just me or did anyone else find it too 'easy' for the chase, now that you can shoot out the tires? Look great btw, but feel it will be too simple vs having to lose the cops/shoot them until the car blows up.

I’m curious if it’s just going to be shooting tires out over and over

Any idea why the long guns stored on Jason’s back during the preview didn’t have slings?
Because if it did have a sling, you'd be asking why the sling disappears when your character is holding it.

u/LovelyLilLadybug 4h ago
My guess is that when they say "Once Free Roam becomes available"it's because the game begins with Lucia in jail / prison as we saw on one of the trailers. I would LOVE to be able to play out a few hours/days in jail. I think that would be a unique opportunity that many games don't allow.
0
u/Slapshot2893 2h ago
I think they should maybe buff the police cars a bit, they seem way too easy to shake off in a pursuit

u/uhqt 7h ago
That’s cool and all but I don’t believe it. It looked like the most scripted shit ever. Hopefully I’m wrong 🤷🏽♂️
17
u/Ok_Heat_9976 6h ago edited 6h ago
I genuinely don't understand why you guys think this. There is literally a free-roam clip in the trailer where the exact same thing happens. The car even blows up.
They were simply showcasing the fact that shooting tires have a more dramatic effect than before. It's kind of like a new game mechanic, part of this larger incapacitation design philosophy, that also applies to human enemies (yellow markers). We haven't seen this, but if you went into dead eye, the tires would probably be also highlighted yellow.
You don't HAVE TO shoot the tires, you can also shoot the driver, the engine or the fuel caps.
-10
u/uhqt 6h ago
Hey man, just my opinion. There were multiple moments in the extended look that looked obviously scripted, and I think that was one of them. I’m not claiming to be right, and in fact I hope I’m wrong. Just my 2 cents
1
u/LeBourde 2h ago
In some way all missions are kind of scripted, the whole mapping is designed in purpose of missions to be spectacular and feel natural. Then it's all about graphic engine which obviously blast.

Every bit of new info just builds up the hype
I wonder if we'll get some kind of deep dive this month.
