Wouldn't it be wild...
...if screenshot 13, from the new ones they just dropped, was from the final act and Jason and Lucia go out in a hail of gunfire together like Bonnie and Clyde? The situation definitely seems pretty dire.
The new screenshots are making me crazy excited for this game. Can't wait for November! :)

A criminal couple being inspired by or compared to Bonnie and Clyde doesn’t automatically mean Rockstar is going to copy their fate. That’s an interpretation we’re making based on the imagery and premise. And knowing Rockstar, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re intentionally encouraging that assumption because it’s the obvious conclusion everyone would jump to.
Rockstar would have to either kill one of their two central characters relatively early, which seems unlikely, or save it for the ending, in which case the audience spends the entire game waiting for something we already knew was coming. I just don’t see Rockstar making the fate of their two main characters that straightforward. The Bonnie-and-Clyde imagery feels almost too obvious, which makes me wonder if it’s deliberately setting us up to expect the wrong thing.

To be fair, that could be just one of multiple endings depending on how you play the game / decisions you make

u/HistorVical 4h ago
This makes the most sense. I'm guessing it's one of these 1. One of them dies while the other lives the rest of their life in guilt 2. Lucia and jason go seperate ways (kim and saul type ending) 3. Both die like in this image (we play as raul sorta like john in rdr2)

u/ZOoNeR_ 3h ago
I am tired of death endings ngl
15
u/JohnHellDriver 3h ago
Shit bro, how else does a life of high octane crime usually end?
4
u/ZOoNeR_ 3h ago
Would be to Predictable imo
2
u/JohnHellDriver 3h ago
I guess. They could take it in the direction of one of them getting a court date at the end of the game and getting locked up lol

- They end up together and are able to get out of the situation alive (with maybe some losses on the way)
idk man, i do see them ending on a good-ish note even if the rest of the game has dark moments, and having dark moments does not meant you cannot have a nice-good ending together.
One of the things they say they are working on is what the player can do after the game story ends and giving them more options to spend that money and do stuff. I also don’t think they would spend so much time on the relationship thing if all the options are just Jason and Lucia ending separated.
But i dont know, i just hope there is really a “good” ending, there is no need to make sad endings or kill the protagonist to make a good ending. Actually just judging by these comments (and other similar threads), everyone expects one of them to die.

Number 3 is exactly what I told my buddy I think will happen yesterday. I’m all for surprises though

u/GideonNav124 1h ago
- They flee to Liberty City and that's a whole section of the game we have no idea about yet. I know this idea is ridiculous but I have a strong feeling we'll see Liberty City in this game - maybe more limited like when CJ goes to Liberty City on San Andreas
11
u/TheCosmicMilkshake 4h ago
It would be predictable, but I hope it’s at least one of multiple endings. If we grow to care for Jason and Lucia’s characters over 80-100 hours, a hail-of-gunfire ending would be devastating.

u/yoyoo912 4h ago
Predictable ≠ bad
6
u/ItsDaPickle 4h ago
No, but it would certainly be pretty anticlimactic for a game that we've been waiting so long for

Depends how they do it, we all saw the end of rdr2 coming yet it was one of the best endings ever
4
u/enraged_cat 4h ago
Idk man rdr2 was predictable as hell the whole way through, and that’s another reason why I loved it
2
u/Mission_Possible6 2h ago
EXACTLY THIS! yep, I won't believe they'd make the ending THIS obvious. I mean, it COULD be one of the Ending but NOT the Main one.
1
u/gtavi_pixelblower 3h ago
Imagine they manage to get away, leave the criminal life behind and go incognito building a life together while we play as a new character after the story.
Hell, imagine you could even have a one in a million chance to just randomly come accross Lucia or Jason going about their day as an NPC after the story

u/Sklain I WAS HERE 2h ago
RDR2 made it seem like Dutch and Arthur would be one and the same kind of person and it was just gunslinging and robbery. Very misleading.
I bet it's the same thing here. I don't see what else besides a Bonnie and Clyde story this game could be but I am most definitely excited to discover it.
1
u/RedditSetitGoit 39m ago
That's a really good point. I do HOPE that we have multiple endings. Ideally endings that vary quite a lot from each other. And then your post-story experience isn't different based on your actions and decisions throughout. If love if we got the option to repay the ending as many times as we want so we can experience each branching epilogue.

Locked as her and your options are either save him or let him die. You save him and she dies in the process.

u/Subjectdelta44 4h ago
True but you have to remember we have a whole new writing team. There is a very good chance the writing will be more generic and predictable
Before I get downvoted into oblivion I'm not actively hoping it will be like a lot of haters, its just a realistic expectation I have
6
u/Environmental-Dare80 4h ago edited 3h ago
Holy fuck, there is no whole new writing team.
Michael Unsworth has credited himself as working on GTA 6, Rupert Humphries still works at Rockstar as lead writer
Estimates put at least 80% of the developers that worked on GTA 4, 5 & RDR 2 are still working at Rockstar.
This narrative that the development team has massively changed needs to end. 4 people left, yes they were big names however many people without as much of a public presence still work at Rockstar to this day.

My interpretation is these are just examples of what we could do with the in game photo mode. I doubt any of these screenshots are showing actual story content.
11
u/NuclearSoda 4h ago
It’s 100% this. A preset photo mode pose you can choose from when J&L are together on-foot. I think almost all of the screenshots are and I think that that would be obvious to people who have spent a lot of time with photo mode in other games.
3
u/ZeektheFeek 4h ago
Yeah that's how it has all seemed to me. And I can guarantee I will be spending an ungodly amount of time in this games photo mode.

After playing rdr2 I just want a happy ending
22
u/zepher2828 5h ago
Well it’s a story about criminals, there are no happy endings
26
u/ALT-MIGHT-NIGHT 5h ago
Every single GTA game has had a happy ending. CJ got rich and famous. Claude killed Catalina and lived on. 5 had death wish. Tommy lived and stayed successful. Itd be weird for R* to suddenly break out the morality judgement and strip the play at the chance of a good ending.
19
u/OMEGACY 5h ago
Only 4 really wasn't happy either ending. One was just more sad than the other.
4
u/ALT-MIGHT-NIGHT 4h ago
Yea I forgot about 4. I do agree with you about the endings. I just usually view 4 as an outlier because of how different R* wanted that game to be.
4
u/Much-Library8194 5h ago
Just gonna leave out GTA IV huh?
4
u/ALT-MIGHT-NIGHT 4h ago
You're right, I forget about that game. Even still that game is an outlier. Everything about 4 was attempting to be different.

u/Nemisis_007 5h ago
Nothing weird about breaking tradition, especially to subvert expectations.
6
u/ALT-MIGHT-NIGHT 4h ago
True. I dont disagree. But saying its a story about criminals so it must not have a happy ending is a stretch with a game made by people with R* track record. They have been pulling alot from RDR so I wouldnt be suprised.

I'm feeling the complete opposite. I'd love it if it's tragic. Happy endings are kinda boring, especially for a criminal game. Like it's said in RDR+2, you don't get to do a life of crime and kill people and live happy ever after. There's consequences. I do hope though that there's multiple endings. Either one of them dies, both dies, or (happy ending) both live, but probably can't ever interact with each other again. All of the best games of OAT have tragedy within them.
3
u/the_infidel102938 5h ago
Prou be another 3 ending situation when gta 6 online comes see which ending was actually canon like gta 5
4
u/nygiantsfan8 4h ago
No, them going out like Bonnie and Clyde is too predictable, I hope they don't go that route.
2
u/TheRealTr1nity 4h ago
It's a staged action shot, as several more with the new screenshots. Probably to show photo mode.
1
u/PhantomTissue 5h ago
Honestly there’s a lot of ways I could see this ending. Hail of gunfire is one, one of them is undercover, blackmail forcing them to turn on each other, or being forced to be separated for some reason, one flips sides? Who knows
1
u/Nemisis_007 5h ago
You know what would be even more wild? If Lucia falling down the elevator shaft in the extended look was one of her many possible deaths.
I doubt it is tho. It might just be the beginning of the end in the sense that after Lucia gets mortally wounded, Jason might want to take the necessary steps to get out of that kind of life while they still can. That's what the talk on the roof with the old guy was about too.

u/MaturePrince 5h ago
Which would mean like RDR2, we’d have an epilogue so my question would be who do you think we’d use as a playable character if so?

I believe neither of them dies; instead, the ending is shaped entirely by how you play and the trust you build throughout the game. Rockstar has promised immense replayability. If I were to design a fitting conclusion where they stick together until the very end, one partner would make the ultimate sacrifice—taking a life sentence so the other could escape. Alternatively, they might pull off a successful escape, only to part ways forever.
Bittersweet end.

u/Marciofficial 4h ago
And who would you play as after the story if they both go out? Cal?
-4
u/RedditSetitGoit 4h ago
I suggested that in another reply. :) But maybe our created character for online is an anonymous ally until the story is completed, then we continue on as our character? Probably not, but that might be interesting. Creates a little more investment in the character you continue as. Of course a lot of people have some WEIRD characters, so that would really turn up the strangness to 11. Like our final avatar is some blue skinned guy/ girl with spikes in their head and red eyes. Running around finishing up Jason and Lucia's affairs. All their contacts are like "who the fuck is this guy?" :)

This is the ending where Jason reveals he's an undercover cop and goes for one last kiss before the arrest/turns sides and dies in a gunfight

What if the party mission is later than we think and Lucia falling down the elevator is actually an ending

I feel like they’re pulling a diversion
The whole theme of the game whether it’s through the songs or character dialogue is basically that Jason and Lucia have a bumpy road ahead of them relationship wise given their profession of crime, and everyone basically thinks they’re eventually gonna die. And with that I feel like the ‘true’ ending is gonna be them overcoming the doubts by not letting the money/power blind them and sticking together till the end (High Honor + High Relationship),
whereas the alternate ending is the classic Bonnie and Clyde style death (Low Honor + High Relationship).
Not the mention theres rumors that your criminal profile and be lowered to a ‘point of no return’ if you kill too many people. So in this game’s case, playing true to the characters actually has benefits or consequences.

Game isn't in order, lots of flash backs and jumps forward, my prediction.
Also I wonder if you have to pick one to live at the end? Would be same as GTA 5 so I doubt it but if you truly are spending a ton of time with these two it would be a dramatic way to end it

How do we continue to free roam the city after the story in that case?

Maybe our created character gets to be an anonymous ally that only gets revealed once we finish the game and then it's us continuing the story online?
-1
u/Alternative_Rip3023 5h ago
It's a rdr1 situation. Jason Lucia dies then we play as Lucia's Daughter and her boyfriend for the rest of our game.

u/SEV1N7ENE 5h ago
I quit playing RDR2 when they forced me to play as John in the endgame and then I just started over and I chill I’ve chilled in chapter 2 for the past 4 years.

There's a glitch to play that part as Arthur. You can't do anything but free roam but it's as arthur

Really??? Is it on console?
