GK3 Reborn is a rewrite of the engine that can run GK3 content, it can run the game w/o REBARN upgrades but you'll miss videos.

Quick FAQ:
Q: What is it?
A: A rewrite of the GK3 engine using modern rendering techniques (DX12 & Vulkan) and runs on Windows, Linux and MacOS (ARM)
Q: And this plays the whole thing?
A: With a few bugs here and there still. It's still being worked on.
Q: Is the source available?
A: Yes, see website - its avail on the downloads page (C# .NET 10). There is also a Github page @ https://github.com/Devion/GK3Reborn
Q: Is this fully made with AI?
A: No. But parts definitely are; Parts of the code, parts of the textures were AI supported, but most textures went through a photoshop process as well to make them correct. You will notice some textures will still look like garbage, those are still to be fixed proper. A lot of the documentation was made with claude, cuz I can't be bothered :)
Q: Why?
A: Because I love GK, always have, always will. After reinstalled GK3 I got annoyed by the UI (again..) and its cumbersome movement system so it was time to take matters in my own hands.
Q: Where do I post bugs?
A: Here preferably at this point in time.
Q: What versions are supported?
A: English has been tested, the rest fully untested as of writing.
Q: The size is 12GB?!
A: 2/4K textures eat up a lot more space, plus for raytracing and other effects most of the textures have undergone a more PBR approach which requires 3-5 textures per texture, it balloons the install quite a bit..
Q: Can I request QoL features?
A: Yes.
Q: How do I play this thing?
A: WASD for movement, Space/CTRL for height, ALT to show all interactable objects, hold SHIFT + an action to immediately teleport to that object. Fairly straight forward. R-click an object to see all eligable verbs and actions that can be done. Easy peazy?
Q: It doesn't start?!
A: See log.txt, you are most likely missing the GK3 original files required (all BRN files) or your videocard isn't supported which if that happens I would love to hear about.
Q: I am stuck at a particular part of the game
A: Could be a bug, could be user error. There is a journal on top, check if you did everything.
Q: Easter eggs?
A: Easter eggs can be enabled like the original game, except now from the options ;)
Q: THAT DAMN CAT PUZZLE!
A: Yes.. that damn cat.. so for that reason there is also an 'Easier' setting menu that allows you to circumvent cat puzzle but... you get to wear the mustache for as long as its enabled.. 90's baby! gotta love it. The settings screen also comes with a 'god' mode option for the later stage of the game.

A: If you can specify with what, then I'll think about it. So far this has been a one-man party.
Q: Are you going to do GK2 as well?
A: Not at this time.

Hi fellow GK enthusiasts. Would anyone be able to help me out with starting the 3rd Game, Blood of the Damned? Last night I installed the game onto my Acer laptop from Steam and I can not figure out how to get it to allow me to play the game. When I receive the menu and launch it, I'm transported to a black screen with a gold message stating 'Please Insert CD 1' ..... I have been tempting to get around but unsure how. Do I have to buy a vintage copy or something? Any advice is appreciated, ty!

It pains me so, because GK1 was drop dead amazing and I thought I'd hate the full motion video in GK2, but no, I loved it and it felt like a great Gabriel Knight sequel.
GK3 on the other hand has such impossibly dense and clunky controls it ruins the whole damn experience. Not to mention the bright, happy, Nintendo-esque graphics. I think I recall Jane Jensen saying in an interview there was a lot of pressure to make the game 3D to "keep up with the times," even though she didn't want to do it, and she was beyond right. GK works so much better as a 2D point and click game and the first 2 hold up all the way in 2025. They have a sense of moodiness, magic and dark mystery permeating throughout.
The reason it pains me so much is that I have a whole 'nother GK game to play right there for me and every time I try to get into it the controls/graphics forcefully get me out of the mood.

Im a fan of both and I cant help myself but finding many similar elements in both. I know Im not alone in this. I find it funny and entertaining to find similar elements in both. How many can we find? Please help me! I played years ago,finished the game then though it would be Nice to play again. But this time i used a walkthrough,should have made it easier,but no. Im stuck on chapter 6 in Altötting. I have all 3 scrolls,did everything the walkthrough said. When im in the car the hint show me Altötting. Gave the heart to the priest,we prayed, but when i tried to open the door,grâce only says something like this is the door that leads outside.it wont open so i can take the scroll from the un. Any idea? Please someone help!
