  2. Unbiased 100% (remove rule-breaking posts only)

Canadian (SM-S901W) to International Base S22 Motherboard Swap (128GB to 256GB) - Hardware Compatibility?

I have a base Canadian-model S22 (128GB, SM-S901W) with a faulty motherboard. I am attempting to swap it with a 256GB motherboard sourced from the Asian/African market (SM-S901E). I am specifically avoiding European boards (SM-S901B) to bypass the Exynos 2200 chipset and ensure I retain a Snapdragon processor.

Before initiating the teardown, I need to verify the hardware bottlenecks:

  1. Flex Cables and Chassis Fit: Will the SM-S901E motherboard physically seat into the SM-S901W chassis without clearance issues, and do the internal antenna array connectors align?
  2. Network Bands: Is the hardware modem on the SM-S901E physically incapable of supporting standard North American network bands, or can this be mitigated via software flashing?

Has anyone successfully completed a cross-region board swap on this specific chassis, and what hardware anomalies did you encounter?

Are you prepared to absorb the total financial loss of the replacement board if the Canadian peripheral components are structurally incompatible?

Shut down, won't come back on for 30min to 4hrs, non responsive while powered down

Long story short, I bought 2 Galaxy S22s refurbished in July 2026 because we needed different phones, and they were cheap and available for after pay. My phone is doing great, but my husband's phone will randomly turn itself off, and it won't power back up until 30min to 4hrs has passed. No specific app usage at the time of shut down, and the phone itself is currently at 4hrs powered down with no response to ANYTHING.

Help!

What is Your S22 Battery Health?

What is your S22 battery health? I installed Accubattery a few weeks ago and thought I ran my battery down to below 15% last weekend, but it still says no full charges detected (maybe because I started from 80% instead of 100%?). It says my battery health is 81%. A couple of months after purchase, I set the secret battery protect for 85% from reading about it here, then when Samaung rolled out the 80% battery protect publicly, have been using it ever since except occasions when I charge to 100% because I'm going to out for a while last the last 2 nights when I was out for 8 hours working, then watching and taking photos and videos of the DMB concerts. My S22 SD 256 MB used to use around 10%/hr, but upped to 13%/hr at the beginning of the year as high as 15%/hr recently.

S series is just a crap phone

Samsung s series is a joke. Lot of people have complained about screen issues, about green line. I am also the victim of same issue. Got a single vertical green line, then one pink line, then again one green line. Bought it for 70k during launch. Samsung is asking 16k for screen replacement. Why samsung is not accpeting fault and replacing it for all users who faced such issues atleast in flagship series. Why they are not taking accountability.

Was planning to switch s26 as I don't like ios but not gonna buy any samsung electronic devices in future. Such a waste of money.

SM-S901U1: Random reboots before and after factory reset. Spoiler

So this all started about 3 weeks ago. Phone is locking up and rebooting with no clear trigger. This morning I was just trying to turn off the alarm and it locked up and rebooted. If I'm real lucky I get back to back reboots.

Backed up everything and did a factory reset this evening. It has since crashed 2 or 3 (that last one took awhile to boot back up) in the last 4 hours.

I read in a post from the other day that it could be a cpu / mobo issue?! I'm guessing that's what it is or is there anything else I can test, check, and / or confirm before I give up and go phone shopping?

I've had the phone since Dec 2022, so it has had a decent run.

Thank you.

Replaced the screen on my own

Bezels are huge but it was worth every cent considering it was 40usd, fingerprint sensor works, but yeah obviously it's not an OEM screen but if I wanted an OEM screen I'd have to fork out 200 at that rate I can get a used s23 or s22

[S22 Base SM-S901W] Severe daily freezing & One UI crashes (Started ~2 weeks ago). Factory reset & Safe mode failed.

I have a base model Samsung Galaxy S22 128GB (SM-S901W, Canadian variant) running Android 16 / One UI 8.0 (May 5, 2026 security patch).

About two weeks ago, it started freezing and crashing multiple times a day without any clear trigger.

Symptoms:

Context & Troubleshooting:

Since third-party apps and basic /data partition corruption are ruled out by the reset and safe mode, has anyone experienced this specific rapid degradation? Is this a known issue with the latest firmware push, or is this definitive motherboard/NAND failure?

  • "One UI stopped working" or "System process isn't responding" errors.
  • Complete screen freezes where side buttons are entirely unresponsive.
  • Random black screens requiring hard reboots.

Context & Troubleshooting:

  • No physical damage, drops, or overheating events.
  • I performed a clean factory reset. The problem persists.
  • I ran the phone in Safe Mode. The problem persists.

Anyone else having issues with vertical lines in their screen?

For like a month or so an vertical purple line just randomly appeared on my screen, which I got used to. The day before yesterday I went to sleep (my screen just had this purple line), and then when I woke up there was an huge green line as well, and then again when I woke up today, a new very thin green line appeared. I tried restarting and updating it, and the lines are still there (which leads me to believe its a screen issue).

To fix this issue samsung is asking BRL1840 (or 357USD).

I am just curious, is anyone else having this issue or just me?

Galaxy S22 — USB-C charging works, but no USB data

My Galaxy S22 suddenly stopped detecting USB data after a trip. Everything worked normally before this.

During the trip, I charged it using the USB-C charging port built into the bus seat. Interestingly, it showed Super Fast Charging, which my regular charger at home does not support (it only provides Fast Charging). The phone charged normally at the time, but after returning home I noticed the problem.

Now:

- USB-C → USB-C: Super Fast Charging, but no USB data connection.

- USB-A → USB-C: slow charging, but no USB data connection.

- No “File Transfer” option appears.

- USB debugging is enabled, but nothing happens.

- Tested multiple cables and two different computers.

- The cables work normally with other phones.

- Factory reset didn’t help.

The phone still charges, but USB data transfer is completely dead.

Could the USB-C port or the USB/data circuit have been damaged? Is it possible that the bus’s USB-C charging port caused this? Or is there anything else I should test before taking it for repair?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Bad Camera in tbis model. fix?

the camera is so bad.

horrible quality, not what I would expect from a top brand flagship device (even though old).

the pics from my Galaxy S10 Plus were decent but now in the s22 plus i don't want to take photos anymore.

i tried a few fixes a while back but none really made a difference.

is there any way to fix this?

maybe the camera hardware of this model is low quality and can't be fix by software?

S22 swollen and possible explosion

Hi, I'm reaching out to show that my S22 battery swelled up. I was using it at 19% and it suddenly shut down to zero with no warning whatsoever. I've been using the phone regularly for 3 years, so it's way out of warranty. I tried reaching out to Samsung about this problem, but have received no response yet. I have very important files on that phone. Is it possible to get a discount or something like that?

Is there no Way to Stop the Screen from turning off during Calls? (The Proximity Sensor Thing)

I Understand the purpose of it, I know how it works and why. But I recall there used to be a setting where you could turn that on or off. So when it goes up against your ear it stays on, or when you take it away from your ear to, let's say quickly grab a verification code texted to you while on a call, it doesn't turn off from the proximity of your hand interacting on the screen.

Is there no longer a way to disable this feature? I tried so many youtube tutorials.

I find it really annoying I want to keep it on. I'm talking about for my personal use case, I would like to turn it off does anyone know if there's a way to turn it off . No I don't want it in speaker phone either.

Motion and Gestures

Proximity Settings

CAll settings,

Cant find anything for it.

Thanks

S22+ Display replacement

Hello, I have fallen victim to the notorious green line issue and the number of lines have started increasing. Im thinking of getting a display replacement (16K rupees) and a battery replacement (2.5K rupees) and using it as a secondary phone. I want to know if replacing it is worth it now. If I plan on getting the replacement I hope to use it for the next 2 to 3 years. I have looked at used market and a good s23 plus is costing between 30k to 40k which is out of my budget and mid range phones don’t have the build quality nor good design. My s22+ looks brand new and is the snapdragon model and a used s22+ costs the same as replacing it so replacement would be good. Not exited about using other brand phones as I like one ui and I’m used to it but open to recommendations. Please tell me if it is worth it or not or give me alternatives.

Lifespan experience?

Hey all, title pretty much says everything. I've had my S22 for about 3 years, and it's working fine (minus battery dying faster and some slight, occasional overheating, but that seems to be the norm) wondering how long yours lasted? I really don't want to upgrade if it still works fine, but was wondering how long y'all got out of yours, or if I should be prepared to make the switch soon?
