Good gameboy games?
Hey guys! I recently bought a gameboy advance that could play GBoy, Gboy Color, and Gboy Advance games. I am recently getting into retro and I was wondering if you guys any game suggestions/what yalls favorites are from this era.

Nintendo's games are pretty much the best but don't sleep on Castlevania, Final Fantasy Tactics, & Sonic Advance!

Fire emblem games plus the hacks are all top-tier. They’re my favorite on the system.

GBA- DBZ buu's fury is randomly really good and got me into dragon ball
GBA- the Sonic Advance games are pretty fun, even as someone who's not good enough at platformerss to beat them
GB- Kirby star stacker has my favorite vibes of any tetris like puzzle game
GB- Megaman V is the best classic megaman series game playable on gameboy.
GBC- link's awakening DX is actually peak. No wait, it's more than peak, it's the whole mountain!
GBC- Megaman Xtreme and Xtreme 2 are challenging but a really good time if you're good at video games and or patient.

Gameboy Advances can naturally play all 3 generations soooooo here's my suggestions, some may overlap with what people have suggested and isn't listing everything to allow others to make suggestions too.

A lot already mentioned.
My personal favorite GBC Game will always be "Dragon Warrior Monsters". I love this game so much.
For GBA a game I actually really enjoyed despite getting lower rankings is "Shining Soul 2". Nowhere near a masterpiece but I played trough it at least five times.

I love the GBA because there is really so many random games to play. I think you should get a flash cart and just play random games. Play ones like Dogz or Pirates of the Caribbean to get a taste of what it was like to have a GBA in the early 2000s. If you just want peak games, listen to the other comments.

It's insane how many games are just totally unknown, even stuff that got localized in English. I played and reviewed a game called Back to Stone that didn't even have any times recorded on How Long To Beat.

Lots of people just repeating the same top 20 universally acclaimed games!
Super Monkey Ball JR has awesome 3D, good fun trying to speed run
Ecks Sever is a more contemporary Doom type game, 3D also, big fan.
Mary Kate & Ashley girls night out is a guitar hero clone and a blast.
Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories is a great brawler with a card system that lets you create your own builds.
Honourable mention to Guilty Gear X if you're a fan of fighting games!

Every time I see someone ask this I always come back to the same recommendation of Perfect Dark. It's a masterpiece of a game, gives a proper challenge but perfecting levels to survive the best always brings satisfaction and is great from a collector's perspective.
If you like platformers the Yoshi's Island remake is currently bringing me great joy.
Consider one of the GBA (not GBC or DMG) Star Wars games, but decide which one to get based on your genre and style preferences since there are a few different ones.
I cannot speak from experience but Boktai is supposed to be an incredible game and I am really looking forward to getting it one day. Unfortunately it is expensive so unless you have money to burn don't bother.
Mario Kart Super Circuit is fantastic for me. Other people don't like it and think it's hard, but I think it isn't and it's easy to get good.

Don’t listen to him, Golden Sun is a great game if you like JRPGs, or would like to try one. It’s easy to get into if you’re not familiar with the genre, and if you like Pokemon at all, you’re likely to enjoy Golden Sun as well.
The game is set in a medieval world. A powerful magic is unleashed upon the world when a group of thieves break into a sacred sanctum and steal the orbs that have kept it sealed until now. You are a young man who gets caught up in this caper, and its now up to you to find the thieves and figure out what they intend to do with the orbs.
You’ll travel from town to town, fighting turn-based battles with monsters, using swords, maces, and magic. On your journey you’ll also meet djinni, tiny creatures that can be activated like pokemon, and that boost your stats when not in use. Using djinni in battle can make you more vunerable, but they can also pool together to summon bigger attacks.
There are only 28 djinni in the first game though, so it’s not as expansive as pokemon. However, they all have a purpose, and many are well hidden, and they’re worth finding!
Along the way you’ll also solve puzzles and navigate mazes, and there are some optional side quests to do.
The games story is divided between games one and two, so the first game ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. I haven’t played the second yet, but I’ve heard you have a ship in the second one which you can sail to various lands!

I'd suggest a cheap flash cart and some of the color romhacks for gba and gbc

My go-tos are Golden Sun 1 & 2 and all the Pokemon/Zelda games from that era
