Megathread Find your next partner here! - [Weekly] MegaThread

Hi everyone, We understand how difficult the times are. Loneliness is at peak, and everyone is "looking for someone you can't find on dating apps". In this, we as mods decided it's best that we keep a weekly thread to find your next relationship. Some important points to note, rules to play by:

  • All irrelevant comments will be removed and will result in a week long ban.
  • This is NOT for casual / hookup relationships. There are various subreddits that can assist you with it.
  • This is a weekly thread that will open at Saturday 00:01 AM and close at Saturday 11:59 PM.
  • Since the ratio is skewed, only guys will comment below. It is recommended that girls avoid commenting, to avoid predatory behaviour. We as mods want to create a safe space. Yet, if you feel comfortable with the flooded DMs that follow, the onus remains on you. Unfortunately, in that situation, mods will not be able to assist you.
  • For LGBTQIA+ folks, you may comment below. If someone from the non-LGBT+ reaches out to you in bad faith, please let the mod team know, so we can ban them from the subreddit.
  • You may choose to keep your DMs closed / open through Reddit settings (google it). You can initiate a Convo here and take it on DMs later (recommended).
  • For the guys, please mention: Your Age, your location / city, your expectations from the relationship (as 3 minimum things) in the form of (A, E, L - Age, Expections, Location). Sell yourself, write what you feel will work out for you. Be clear from the start, if you have any constraints. No judgement please, everyone has preferences. Mention hobbies, interests.
  • Women - it is important you Comment / DM / reach out to ones whom you feel interested in - If you feel you can explore, go ahead!
  • As we are not a dating app, nor are we paid in anyways, what happens later is on you! Please take all necessary precautions at your end to ensure! You may share preventive measures in the comments below and we mods will pin / add it here, for everyone's use!
  • Avoid arguments please!

Rant | Vent A girl exposed in front of the whole class that I have a crush on our ma'am... RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE MA'AM!

So this happened during my college Teacher's Day celebration (5th Sept 2025). We were having a class celebration where all the ma'ams and sirs came in individually and we played games with them. We were the "cool" class, so there were 4 faculties present: our current class ma'am, 2 sirs, and my previous sem class ma'am.

Now, I kind of had a huge crush on my previous sem ma'am. She was only about 8 years older than me, and my close female friend (along with a few other classmates) definitely knew about it.

The game was simple: 2 people come on stage and say 2 unknown things about each other. I was already on stage with a random girl from my class. My female friend secretly called that girl over, whispered something in her ear, and sent her back.

The girl looked at me and asked on mic, "Bata du sab ke samne?"

Being the overly confident guy I am, I said, "Yeah sure, no problem!" I honestly thought I was being open-minded and had absolutely zero clue what she was about to drop.

Mind you, my "crush ma'am" was standing right in between us acting as the host of the game.

The girl takes a breath and announces to the entire room: "[My Name] has a huge crush on [ma'am's name]!"

The WHOLE class erupted laughing. I was so insanely embarrassed and shy I literally ran to my seat. My friends immediately started teasing me saying the ma'am was blushing when she heard it.

To make it worse (and funnier), my current sem class ma'am looked at me and joked, "Agar age gap jyada nahi lag raha to kuchh bat kare?" And one of the sirs just casually chimed in, "Ha wese ma'am achhi to he..."

Dude, I was dying of embarrassment but secretly kind of happy in my head.

The aftermath? The crush ma'am actually texted me later! Normally she used to send all the classwork to another student, but after this incident, she started sending it directly to me and started talking to me in this completely different, teasing tone!

twist though: I found out a bit later that she was married!!!

EDIT: That quirky question by my class ma'am and sir was in personal they came to my bench and said personally to me not in front of class! sorry if you all imagined it that way! and it is not made up story...

Ask GenZIndia Fading friendships.. 💔💔💔💔😢😢😢

Fading friendships....

My Timeline — September 2025 to September 2026

September 2025 — Trying to Restart My Life

I was 23 and had spent the previous two years regularly fighting with my father over my forced engineering degree and the way he treated/abused my mother. He often took out his frustration about me not doing well in life on her.

In September 2025, after my father had a heart attack, we both apologised to each other. I looked after him, decided to move forward, and tried to leave the past behind. Around this time, I had also distanced myself from my friends.

At that point, I felt I had two main choices:

  1. Continue engineering and try to get a job within a few months.

  2. Do an M.A. from a good institute in Hyderabad and prepare for government exams.

I was actually more inclined towards the M.A. route, but I didn't choose it because of things like my father's preference for engineering, feeling that an M.A. "looked bad," fear, lack of confidence, and other reasons.

Instead, I forced myself into an automation course that I already knew had poor placement prospects. I had very little interest in it and knew the ROI was bad, but I convinced myself that I could study DSA, etc., alongside it and eventually crack a tech job.

I also wanted to get away from home.

Looking back, I'm not even sure leaving was necessary because I could probably have studied from home. But I went anyway, and I wasn't feeling okay.

---

October 2025 — I Met Harsh

While I was struggling, I was ranting and looking for advice in Telegram mental-health groups and talking to different people.

Around October, I met a guy friend on Telegram named Harsh.

At first, it was purely friendship.

He was extremely expressive, a very good listener, and very consistent. He was also trying to grow, heal from toxic friendships, and build his career. He was in the last semester of his master's.

We bonded very well.

He had dreams he wanted to work on — he wanted to build a business and eventually open an NGO with his own money. He shared his insecurities, fears, everyday experiences, and personal thoughts with me.

Over time, I became very attached to the friendship because I felt understood and comfortable with him.

---

November 2025 — Priyanka Came Back Into My Life

Around November, I contacted my ex-best friend Priyanka after almost a year.

We had mostly been long-distance friends, but she had always understood me.

She welcomed me back, supported me, and liked that I had left what I considered a toxic environment at home because I wanted to build something bigger for myself.

However, Priyanka wanted consistency, progress, and openness from me. She wanted me to tell her what was happening in my life.

That was somewhat overwhelming for me initially, but I was trying.

---

November–December 2025 — Everything Seemed Possible

By December 15, things with both friendships were actually going quite well.

With Priyanka

Priyanka was trying to study with me, share progress, and build some consistency together.

She was very open about her own life and supportive of me.

With Harsh

Harsh was also interested in studying together and getting fit together.

He was motivated about his own studies and career, and he asked me to decide which government exams I wanted to prepare for.

We were almost making a plan to study together and share all our progress.

At one point, he even wanted me to take care of his pets so that he could focus while I worked a job.

We were making plans for the future.

I was excited about the idea of having people in my life with whom I could study, get fit, get jobs, grow, and eventually spend time together.

---

But Internally, I Was Falling Apart

While everything looked positive from the outside, I was actually extremely overwhelmed.

The biggest problem was that I wasn't studying.

I was confused about my career and deeply unhappy with the course I had chosen. I knew I was continuing with something I didn't like and that had poor ROI.

But I wasn't telling my friends the full truth.

I was trying to hide how badly I was struggling.

I was ashamed of myself and afraid of being judged as unsuccessful or unserious.

Because of my history with college, grades, friendships, and being a loner, I was already insecure.

So when Harsh and Priyanka started asking about my plans and trying to create accountability, something inside me started resisting it.

I wanted their friendship.

I wanted to study with Harsh.

I wanted to grow with him.

I wanted Priyanka in my life.

But I also wanted to escape from anyone who could see that I wasn't actually making progress.

So I started avoiding accountability.

---

December 2025–January 2026 — Avoidance Started

I became increasingly inconsistent.

I would:

- Leave messages on seen for days.

- Reply very late.

- Disappear.

- Avoid serious conversations.

- Give vague answers about my career.

- Avoid talking about my actual problems.

- Talk about relatively unserious things like memes, politics, and gossip instead.

- Say no to real plans because I wasn't confident enough to follow through.

Even though my friends were trying to understand me, I kept wanting to withdraw from everyone.

This created another problem: guilt.

I knew these were good friends.

I knew I was hurting them.

They had even told me that they didn't like this behaviour.

But instead of fixing the underlying problem, I kept repeating the same cycle:

Avoid → feel guilty → apologise/explain → promise to improve → feel overwhelmed again → avoid.

I also couldn't take a job until February because I was so overwhelmed.

Around this time, Harsh was also trying to make an SSC plan with me, but I said no because I wasn't confident.

---

What I Actually Wanted

Ironically, what I wanted was almost the opposite of what I was doing.

I wanted to create a group with all my friends.

I imagined us:

- studying together,

- talking about life,

- helping each other make good decisions,

- getting fit,

- getting jobs,

- going out together,

- and growing together.

I wanted Harsh to become a real part of my life and eventually meet my other friends and family.

I wanted to be a genuinely good friend to him.

But I was so insecure and overwhelmed that I kept disappearing instead.

I was also changing my career plans frequently.

I felt like a failure because I wasn't making progress.

And because I felt guilty about not being able to keep my promises, I became even more afraid of being honest with people.

I hadn't even properly told Priyanka about Harsh being such an important friend in my life.

So even though my friends were putting effort into connecting with me, I was emotionally pulling away.

---

February 2026 — Things With Priyanka Became Bad

From February onward, my friendship with Priyanka took a serious turn for the worse.

She felt that:

- I didn't respect her.

- I wasn't making progress.

- I lied to her.

- I hid things from her.

From my side, I wasn't necessarily trying to deceive her. There were simply things I wasn't comfortable talking about because I was struggling so much.

But I understand that from her perspective, my behaviour looked like hiding, lying, and lack of respect.

She became very hurt and started distancing herself from me.

We still spoke politely, but we weren't emotionally open anymore.

---

February–May/June 2026 — Trying to Save the Friendship

I became extremely scared that Priyanka was going to leave my life.

Instead of focusing on my studies, career, and health, a huge amount of my mental energy went into trying to fix the friendship.

I started:

- trying harder to be consistent,

- apologising repeatedly,

- over-explaining myself,

- worrying about what she thought of me,

- analysing her replies,

- worrying about whether she was becoming distant.

Ironically, this made it even harder for me to focus on my actual life.

My career wasn't progressing.

My studies weren't progressing.

My health wasn't getting the attention it needed.

And my friendship with Harsh was also being affected.

Instead of building the healthy friendship I had imagined with him — studying, getting fit, making plans, etc. — I was mostly venting about my problems and remaining stuck.

This also kept him confused because I kept talking about wanting to improve while not actually making much progress.

---

June 2026 — Things Were Still Uncomfortable

In June, Priyanka and I tried to resolve things to some extent and talk again.

I was trying very hard.

But I was still overthinking everything:

- every text,

- every emoji,

- every delayed reply,

- whether she sounded cold,

- whether she was angry,

- whether she still wanted me in her life.

I also started trying to give her detailed updates about my day because I thought that being completely transparent might rebuild the trust.

But by then, she seemed emotionally tired and somewhat done with the situation.

Whenever she asked about my interviews, studies, career, or family matters, I still often dodged the questions because I wasn't actually focusing on those areas.

The same thing happened with Harsh.

Whenever either of them tried to motivate me or asked about my plans, I usually gave vague answers.

---

The Following Months — The Distance Became Normal

Slowly, arguments about my lack of sincerity, leaving messages on seen, and talking very little became more frequent.

Even when I tried to talk to Priyanka, she would sometimes reply with things like "okay" or a thumbs-up.

That made me very uncomfortable because I could feel how much the friendship had changed.

I became increasingly afraid that I had permanently damaged it.

---

Friendship Day — A Small Moment That Hurt a Lot

On Friendship Day, I was really sad that Priyanka didn't wish me.

I was also sad because I felt like I hadn't been able to do anything meaningful for Harsh either.

It made me realise how far things had moved from what I had imagined back in November and December.

---

Now — September 2026

Now, Priyanka and I barely talk.

We might talk once a week, but it's mostly formal and polite.

She has also unfollowed me on Instagram.

I don't know whether that means she doesn't want me in her life anymore. I genuinely don't know.

With Harsh, things have also become extremely distant.

He doesn't really talk to me or tell me much anymore, partly because our conversations have become so unserious and limited.

We mostly exchange things like:

Good morning.

Good night.

How are you?

That's it.

There are no meaningful conversations.

No study plans.

No career plans.

No fitness plans.

No future plans.

We are basically living in our own separate worlds.

And this hurts me a lot because I remember how close we were and how many things we almost planned together.

I had wanted so badly to be a good friend to Harsh.

I wanted us to:

- go places together,

- study together,

- get fit together,

- get jobs,

- grow together,

- meet each other's friends,

- and eventually have him become a real part of my life.

But I kept getting caught up in unserious conversations, crying, overthinking, avoiding things, and making no real progress.

Now we barely even talk.

And I'm scared that eventually even this small connection will disappear.

I also don't know if I'll ever be able to introduce him to my friends and family as a real friend because I feel like I don't even have a proper friend group anymore.

None of the plans I had imagined actually happened.

And that is what hurts the most.

I feel like the two people who had become the most important parts of my life — Priyanka and Harsh — have slowly drifted away because of the way I behaved when I was overwhelmed.

And now I'm left wondering whether I can still repair any of it, or whether I've already lost both friendships.

Ask GenZIndia Bro prefers calisthenics & cosplaying instead of studing of 12th boards

imo all men have that teenage phase of gyming & physically competiting rivaly among friends. i get that. i also get the feeling to cosplay favorite characters. But prioritising those over studies & that too, during 12th boards? Another bro of my aquantaince dropped out after 10th... He used to make 3d roblox/minecraft animated videos. Skilled up during vacations & now he took a job in 3d animation company making those explainer shorts with pretty nice stipend.

I'm neither judging nor questioning their choices. I can understand the necessity & pressure of degrees & qualifications is becoming redundant. but im curious, are the indian parents healing & letting teens make their own choices? Do you think these two are making the right choices? With more & more agentic Ai, is genZ getting much sure about their choices?

MY FRIEND ALMOST COMMITTED $UICIDE YESTERDAY!!! I BEG YOU!!! PLEASE HELP ME SAVE HER!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

THIS IS AN EXTREMELY SERIOUS AND IMPORTANT POST! PLEASE ONLY COMMENT IF YOU HAVE ANY SOLUTION TO THE ISSUES!

My friend who's my senior as well, is into deep trouble! She's stuck in a hell hole! She needs help asap! Idk what to do! Yesterday she almost committed $uicide....

She lives in another city... I'm a student... I can't help her much... I can just give her emotional support rn...

Her father has SAed her multiple times throughout her life, thrown her out of her house for prolonged periods of times...

He's a tyrant. An insane criminal! Her mother has auto immune disease...

Her father beats the shit out of everyone! When my friend finally stood up and begged her mother to take divorce for her own treatment and health, her father quit his government job because he didn't want to give a single penny after divorce to her mother and her...

My friend has a Masters Degree from the best Research Uni in India in her research field....

But the thing is, research in India is cooked rn... And there are no jobs out there!

RA positions don't pay much and she can't survive on that! She doesn't have any place to live rn!

She needs atleast around 60k in hand to survive in a city all alone, take care of her mother's bills and save for her PhD......

Everyday.... More than half of her day is wasted due to panic attacks...

She has worst pcod, she bleeds a ton, she has a fucked up mental health, severe anxiety, anxiety induced ibs-d, anxiety induced nausea 24/7 and she's been suicidal all her life!

Her siblings hate her...

All her relatives have SAed her atleast once in her life.......

She cannot ask anyone help because she's sacred they'll SA her too....

She's been crying forever now....

Idk what to do....

She's scared of asking for help from anyone!!! She's traumatized!!!!

Her fears are legitimate too!

She thinks if she asks for help, they'll end up SA her! (New people too)

Her Nana, Uncle, Cousin bro everyone have SAed her!

I've lost count of people who've SAed her!

Her father has choked her multiple times until she's gone unconscious when she resisted getting SAed and then he has SAed her.............

Her own biological bro has SAed her.........

Her sis knows everything and doesn't wanna help! Her mother is a patient...

She has no relatives who can help her.... Her cousins have SAed her....

We live in India.... Women will never be taken seriously in our households....

She needs help from the community.......

The worst part about this is.... She has hell alot of self respect too.....

Whenever I force her to ask for help.... She tells me she won't.... She doesn't wanna use her sad story to gain sympathy etc etc...

This isn't a sad story.... This is a question of her life..... She's gone mad or something......

She still cooks and cleans for her family even with all this....

She does her younger bro's assignments and homeworks while he's busy with his gf....

The same bro who has SAed her.... She takes care of her father too.... The same father who has SAed her....

She's the most empathetic human being I've ever come across....

Empathy ki Devi!!!!!!

But in return.... She's got nothing..... Everyone has always killed some part of her to gain something from her!

She's slightly autistic too.... That turns everything into a bigger nightmare!

Can anyone help her find a job and a therapist who can help her out free of cost???

Please! I beg you! 🙏🙏🙏🙏I beg you!!!

If we don't do anything.... She's gonna die fs....

Her panic attacks are uncontrollable! (I have alot of experience with Panic attacks! My own sis has it... I've had it too! I can say this confidently... Her panic attacks are on another levelll)

Please help her out! Please!

Anything is fine.... Something related to her field.... Teaching at coaching institutes, Research Assistant roles, or anything of that sort!

She doesn't have a place to live, doesn't have money to travel, doesn't have money for anything rn....

Please! Please! Please help her out!!!!!

I've missed out on alot of info.... She's been through much worse things.... I can't think alot now.... My hands are literally shaking while typing this....

Please help her out.... 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Ask GenZIndia Do people my age actually have FDs?

Genuine question because I’ve realised I have absolutely no idea how people my age are investing.
Most of what I see is SIPs, mutual funds, stocks, crypto, gold etc. I’ve barely ever heard someone my age say “I’m putting this money in an FD.”
My parents, on the other hand, seem to love FDs 😂
I’m trying to figure out my own investment strategy now and was wondering whether an FD even has a place in it.
If you’re in your 20s, do you actually have an FD? If yes, what do you use it for?
And if you don’t, why do you not see it as an investment considering FDs are giving solid 7% interests now a days?

Please guide and tell me why is it a bad idea?

So it's my last year and i thought "itna bhi bura nhi hai vese college" then came last year's classes and again i hate it even more. Especially because of favouritism, and the jealousy among classmates because some have already done internships, or a ppo or just already have plans. I was just thinking today that I'll not even come to farewell in this college, i would rather stay at home or just celebrate on my own with cake or something. Ughhhh i hate this place.

Ask GenZIndia Why don't we hold our local MPs and MLAs more accountable for development?

I have often wondered why public criticism in India is so heavily focused on national-level leaders and ministers, while MLAs and MPs often escape the same level of scrutiny.

If we genuinely want development at the ground level, shouldn't we be putting more pressure on our local representatives as well? An MLA or MP represents a comparatively smaller geographical area and should, in theory, be more accessible and aware of the problems faced by people in their constituency.

Yet, we often see the children and relatives of politicians roaming around in expensive cars, posting reels and flexing their lifestyles—while basic issues in their constituencies remain unresolved. This raises a genuine question: What responsibilities do MPs and MLAs actually have towards the people who elected them, and why aren't we holding them accountable enough?

For example, regarding issues such as the condition of government schools recently highlighted by CJP, the central govt can't do anything, if the people appointed at the village level or town level are corrupt. These elected people don't get enough criticism, because we are too obsessed with opposing any specific party or ideology. Whereas the basic work should begin with questioning the local leaders and then automatically the upper govt will also wake up.

Would like your opinions on this!

PS- I am politically neutral. I don't support any party. All are incompetent. But whoever is in power (whether at national level, state level, or district/village level) should be criticize and held responsible for their incompeteness to work for the people

General Is 20-23 the most confusing age?

20–23 feels weird as hell. You’re old enough to feel like you should have your life figured out, but young enough to have absolutely no idea what you’re doing. So many thoughts, fears, overthinking, and constant questions about what to do next and whether you’re even going in the right direction. Anyone else feel this?

Ask GenZIndia What’s something you’d spend money on immediately if someone actually made it right?

What do you think will be the next big thing in India that everyone will suddenly start spending money on?
I feel like the next Minimalist / Blue Tokai / Mamaearth-type brand is probably something we're not paying enough attention to yet.
My bets:
1.🇰🇷 Korean-style skincare made for Indian skin
2.🍱 “Zomato for everyday food” — affordable daily tiffin subscriptions
3.🥤 Drinks for focus, energy, sleep or stress
4.🧠 Affordable Gen Z support for confidence, relationships, loneliness and life problems
5.🏠 A new kind of social space to meet, work and hang out
Or something completely different?
What's one thing you genuinely think:
“Why hasn't anyone built a good Indian brand/service for this yet?”
Could be weird, stupid or extremely specific 😂
Drop your ideas—and roast mine if you think any of them would fail horribly.

Serious 20M, studying and working, but currently without stable housing

I’m 20, doing B.Com and working as a Rapido rider. I came to Hyderabad thinking I could study and work at the same time and slowly build a life here.

I had some money when I first came, but things didn’t go as planned and I ended up losing it. I still have my bike and I’m working, so I know I can eventually get things back on track. But right now, life feels extremely unstable.

I’m currently around KPHB and I don’t have a proper place to stay. I also don’t really have friends here that I can talk to about this, and going back to my family isn’t something I can do right now.

What’s getting to me the most isn’t even the money. It’s the feeling of being completely on my own in a city where I barely know anyone.

I came here with a simple plan — study, work, pay my expenses and move forward. Somehow I ended up struggling just to figure out where I’m going to sleep.

I’m posting this because I wanted to know if anyone in their 20s has gone through something similar after moving to a new city. How did you manage to get your life stable again?

Not looking for a fundraiser or anything like that. I just want to hear from people who have been in a similar situation and know how they got through it.

Literature | Poetry | Books Dreamless Ink... (A peek into my Grandma's diary)

"My dear Diary"
It whispered,
The first line of the antique
I stumbled upon in a dusty corner,
Its leather cracked like her hands once were.
Just days after her ashes drifted into the wind,
I held her words,
A bridge to an era where she was young,
Where dreams flickered in her eyes.

"Today I learnt how to write,"
She scrawled,
Letters trembling with a child’s thrill,
Each stroke bursting with unpolished joy.
My lips curled into a smile,
picturing her—
A girl with just innocence and wild dreams,
Not of codes or stethoscopes,
But of a tree in her backyard,
Its branches a ladder to the sky.
She wanted to climb,
To live.

The pages, brittle and yellowed,
Wore time’s favorite shade,
Each turn a balm to the ache of her absence.
I hungered to know this girl,
The one who grew into the sweet woman
I called Grandma.
Then, on the fifth page,
A spark:
"I also met a guy today,
my parents told me to be his best friend."
My heart leapt—
A boy, a story,
The first hint of something new.

I turned the page,
Eager and excited,
But found only silence.
Empty.
Not a word followed.
The realization struck like a stone:
All those times I asked,
"Grandma, what was your dream, your goal,
What did you want to become?"
Her answer, always,
"Nothing."

And now,
In the hollow of that final page,
I understood.
"Nothing" was a life unlived,
A dream left dangling
on the branches of that backyard tree.
