DISCUSSION [Discussion]

I am tired of never changing, always finding a stupid excuse. Of always falling short and putting goals at the floor just so I don't feel like shit. But I still do. What should I do?

Start small. Write down what you want to do or where you went to be. Then go through and break each part down into small steps and start there. Consistency is key

Celebrate the little victories. Whatever change you want to make, the end goal likely feels far away and daunting. You’re not gonna get there in a day, like others have said just tackle it one day, one increment at a time. Don’t forget to celebrate the progress along the way - each lb lost, each 5 lbs added to your lift, each 1/4 mile you add to your run, each day you go without doing that thing you want to stop doing. It’s amazing how motivation can build when you celebrate the incremental stuff.

Stop waiting to feel motivated. Pick one small thing you’ve been avoiding and do it today, even badly. Build consistency first, confidence will follow.

Meet yourself where you're at and go from there. 😊

Remind yourself that chasing goals is a never-ending cycle. It's good to have some, but you'll never reach a point if satisfaction if you can't accept where you're at right now. You'll always move the goal post because you don't know contentment.

stop expecting yourself to change everything at once. pick one tiny thing and do it every day, even badly, consistency matters more than motivation. i actually built an app called life-fixer on iOS around this idea, with goals, habits and daily tasks all in one place, if that might help :) it helps me anyway!

Start working out.

What helped me was starting at 0.

Deadlift 40kg. Easy. Can’t wait till next time I’m going to do 50.

Stack up the victories while you’re building the habit. Once victories starts to become a bit more rare, you’ve built the habit. And you’re looking forward to your next tiny victory.

It’s all just victories and habits.
