chapter 08 of the manga

Hi everyone, anyone here ever heard of this before? I can never find any information on this piece online, bought it years ago on eBay because SAC is one of my favorite anime’s ever but it’s in all Japanese. Anyone ever seen this before or know what it was released with? Thanks for any help!!

I'm sad but happy to being able to watch such a good anime weekly.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed there is quite a difference between the English audio track and the English subtitles.

You can actually get a bit more information from doing them both at the same time.

It's strange why they are so different.

They blow up my favourite Crow.

This bait post isn't about the crow, but the amount of background details Science SARU is giving. We saw chickens freaking out during the car scene (episode 9) as well.

Loved the "Sugi-baby"

Squirrels at episode 1.

Beetles.

Cockroaches.

Rats.

Pigeons .

Even that kid drawing face garbage guy from episode 2 re appeared at episode 8.

The "footage" at the end was mentioned this episode by the characters as well. Great addition to the lifestyle making it more lively.

I think episode 9 is unfinished, in the sense of unfinished corrections. I understand the hard schedule of the animators. It felt like they didn't have enough time.

Example : The talking scenes should be handed over to the people who are great at character acting. Many scenes are like watching 😮🙁😮🙁. While some key animations are well done.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE : the bridge landscape from episode 2 are used twice here at episode 9.

The long shots are just character moving mouth, while the dialogues are intense. Kinda felt weird.

My earlier complaint about those static long shot where characters walk in the same place, it was longer, it was weird to watch.(check out the image above and watch that scene again)

One final walking shot of motoko, which is a throwback to episode 1.

Even the bgms made comeback from episode 1.

The pre-court scene where Aramaki and Motoko were walking looked like the characters were dragged with some Capcut key frames with some pre defined walking animation. (Example : Imagine like I made a walking animation, but I don't know make the walking animation through a corridor, so I use keyframe and drag it to the end)

Loved the character acting of the news reporter.

Fantastic cinematography and philosophy.

Great animation, city life, people, background characters, especially SUGII BABYYY

If no Botou fans no longer exist then I’m clearly dead cause they could never make me hate you Botou.

The theory that I made in the previous post is true after episode 9.

Lemme recap.

From episode 1, we have many security cameras shots, till episode 8 1st half. This meant that the puppet master was always watching motoko. This makes 'us', the audience as the puppet master watching the major.

The camera shots was not at episode 4. This is another proof.

Also the 'footage' at the end was mentioned by a character this episode, i think it's aramaki or someone. Sums it up.

This is the coolest show I've seen in a while but I can't seem to fully grasp the story. I don't understand most of what the characters are saying. Does anyone else feel like it?

Still holds up pretty well even though a few controls need to be modified. I think we're long overdue for a modern entry.

For those who want a more serious type of storytelling like SAC, look no further than Moribito. It's similar to Sword of the Stranger (if you haven't watched it, add that too)

I've always known about the series as it's kind of hard not to know about it just because of pop culture but especially for me because I'm a massive cyberpunk fan. I never really had a reason not to watch it other than not having easy access and not knowing where to start so I pushed it off as "I'll get around to it later."

The thing that finally kicked me into gear was the backerkit campaign for the Ghost in the Shell TTRPG which I immediately got hooked into because I love collecting TTRPGs so I finally decided to give the series a shot and I'm kinda glad I waited.

I started with the 1995 movie since I figured that almost every one starts and I did enjoy it. It was an amazing watch even if I felt over sold on it (30 years of hype will do that sadly), but I still saw and understood why the fill is so iconic.

After that though I jumped straight to the 2026 series and enjoyed it just as much if not more, the color, personality and style were outstanding. My biggest surprise was how different the Major was. I knew she was goofer but I didn't expect her to be so hedonistic which is by no means a complaint. I actually really liked that aspect and it makes her more stoic and introspective moments hit hard for me.

As of right now I'm in the middle of Stand Alone Complex's second season and so fair it might be my favorite thanks to the fact it strikes a balance between the two.

The reason I'm glad to have waited is because with the 2026 series and the context that it's a direct adaptation of the original manga while that the 1995 movie was a much looser adaptation gave me a wide net when it came to the series. Seeing the different takes and directions made me really appreciate the entire franchise and I'm looking forward to more.
