Is this paranormal? First time experience, please help us make sense of this.
Hey yall. Like the title mentions, neither myself or my family has any experience with anything paranormal and had the situation below play out this morning (9/1/26).
My father lives in North Carolina and had an alert on his garage cameras this morning for a “person detected” a little after 7am. He picks up his phone and sees the first image, where there appears to be a person standing in the grass between his driveway and the neighbors house. He heads outside to go check it out - nothing there. Then he picks up his phone to check again while outside and still sees the “person”. Not knowing what to make of it he heads inside and sends me the images. I ask him to send me one of the area in daylight and that is what the second image is.
We are very, very far from experts here and know next to nothing about what this could be or how it could be explained. Hopefully someone more familiar with cameras and the paranormal can debunk this one, but we would really appreciate any insight here. Thank yall very much for taking a look at this!

Yeah, just did. Kinda tough to pin that down in this case to me. Do you have more experience with these that can give you some evidence of it being a light aberration?

You can trace straight line from the light source (the spotlight) to the floating light, so what the commentator is trying to say it's a reflection bouncing off the lens inside the camera, which can happen when you shine a light at the correct angle to a camera, so this is also another possibility to a bug.

Haha I didn’t catch this at first but looks like the ghost might have hopped and took it for a spin!
My dad likely went to get Dunkin between the first and second pic.

It certainly suggests a ghost to me (apparently never a popular opinion in these forums).
From an accumulation of cases, I have come to think that ghosts in certain stages and conditions can affect electronic and photographic equipment, but our naked eyes see nothing.

This is definitely a spirit. Do not be alarmed. This is a good spirit. They have been amongst us since the beginning of time. You don’t need sage or a priest. It looks to be aware of the camera and knows you’re aware of it now.

I agree with this person. While others may say it's a bug, it's lights from the neighbor's light, etc., what they aren't sharing thoughts on is why would a 'bug' or a 'light' set off an alert of a person in the yard. A bug wouldn't. A neighbor's light wouldn't. Cameras see bugs and lights all the time and don't get set off.

Without seeing the full video, this could easily be backscatter from a bug, but we would need to see the movement of the "light" to verify that.
