Trailer for the new comedy from Ghosts' creators dropped. Looks like fun. Looking forward to seeing Pete's former flame in a lead role. Parker Young was a favorite of mine on Enlisted and I'm glad to see Rose Abdoo in a larger role after Hacks and her small role in Ghosts.

Spoilers watching first season after starting with the recent season

I will keep it without spoilers. I simply found the show on the TV, recent season random episode. the one where Pete realizes his ghost power... I don't count that as a spoiler. so anyway I quickly get up to speed with the rulles and the basics and of course love the show.

my little problem is that they constantly remind "us" of what happened in previous seasons and episodes. like the god dam "yeah I can do that now" (since previous episode for anyone who skipped the previous episode)

and it is great for someone like me for the most part... maybe it was done for ones like me. anyway I found the show on the internet and as I begin with the first episode... PURE GOLD

like there are hints for the latest plots in the first two episodes? and the dude with cut head... not a spoiler, it surprised me like who the hell is that dude I never saw... until the head fell of, of course.

What do you think of Ghosts? I think it was funny and exciting. I really like shows with mysteries. For example, Scooby Doo is one of my favorites.

Update: Ops! I meant I have watched all four seasons and not episodesšŸ˜…

Discussion Ghosts haunting ability tier list

Post image
2 Upvotes

S-tier: Truly terrifying

Amunhotep: This one is pretty self-explanatory, can summon a swarm of locusts and reanimate his mummified corpse. He's the most powerful ghost by far, with two abilities instead of just the usual one.

Patience: Making the walls bleed and even writing with them is quite terrifying.

Alberta: Her humming can be pretty scary, but what puts her in S tier instead of A tier is her ability to communicate with digital voice assistants. She could send messages to your phone, order stuff from the internet. It's also generally pretty scary to have a voice assistant replying to someone who you can't see or hear.

A-tier: Kinda scary

Trevor: Can move or shake light objects, pretty classic haunting stuff. It does take a lot of effort on his part to do.

Thor: Can control electricity to a certain degree with some effort, again, pretty classic haunting stuff.

Sasappis: Can annoy you and haunt you in your dreams, but not a lot more than that. He's limited by the fact that he appears in dreams as he looks, so he can't turn into something scary.

B-tier: Scary very occasionally

Hetty: Cannot interact with the physical world, except on St. Patrick's day, when she appears as a visible but intangible figure. It could be kinda scary at first discovery of her intangibility, but not much after that.

C-tier: Cannot haunt

Pete: Cannot interact with the physical world at all, zero haunting ability

D-tier: Opposite of scary

Isaac: Foul smells on passing through isn't typically scary, it would probably snap you out of any fear

Flower: Getting high on passing through would not be scary at all.

Actor information or coverage Elias Woodstone (Matt Walsh) Broadway cameo!

I was in New York City this weekend, and had the absolute pleasure of seeing The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at the New World Stages. It’s a really unique show with audience involvement— 4 audience members are chosen each show to come onstage and participate during the show, with one being a ā€œspecial guest speller,ā€ (ie; a celebrity/actor that’s predetermined and invited).

Last night’s guest speller was our own Matt Walsh, AKA Elias Woodstone!

He was a great sport, and a better speller! I don’t have any photos of him, because honestly it wasn’t until after the show that we realized who he was. (This is despite the actors literally introducing him by name… this one is really one me lol). But it was because he was so humble and respectful as any other audience member, he was just thanking people who told him he did a great job, and taking pics with the actual guest spellers.

It was such a wonderful surprise— if anyone else has a chance to see this: RUN, don’t walk!!!! Currently an absolute all-star cast, and although Matt won’t be the guest speller again, the show itself is hilarious and worth a visit. This is the off-broadway revival for the anniversary, so time could be running out!!

Spoilers the problem with season 5

Let me preface this by saying that I am a huge fan of Ghosts and I would definitely watch like 30 seasons of that show.

However, I did not love season 5. I did not dislike it, but imo it’s the weakest season so far (excluding season 3, which was also not great due to the writers strike happening at the time).

I think I figured out the reasons why this season just didn’t do it for me and I would love to hear about other people’s opinions.

Firstly, I do not care about the restaurant. I don’t care about the characters who work there either. I would much rather they focused more on the B&B and showed the business slowly improving. With the guests they also have the opportunity to introduce new interesting characters and storylines that can change every episode. A hotel/B&B is literally the perfect setting for a series and they choose not to use it for some reason.

Also, it’s a sitcom! There don’t need to be high stakes with them almost losing the mansion every few episodes!! I feel like people would enjoy it much more if we got to see the characters go about their everyday lives, explore their relationships with each other, and just do silly things. Of course there must also be some episodes that are more emotional and high stakes, but it’s been waayy too much this season. Seriously, in season 5 alone, how many times do they almost lose the B&B or the restaurant? When they won all that money in the poker game, only for the police to take it away immediately after, I was genuinely frustrated. A sitcom should typically wrap up the problem within one episode.

Imo they should lean more into being a cozy feel-good sitcom. Then maybe they also wouldn’t feel the need to have the ghosts constantly screw up in major ways just to keep the tension going, which eventually makes the ghosts unlikable! From reading quite a few posts on this subreddit i get the impression that the number one complaint people have, is that the ghosts are too selfish. So why do the producers seemingly make them more and more selfish instead of giving them character development?

Additionally to that, I didnā€˜t like the hippie cult and I found Trevorā€˜s daughter mean & not very likeable… That might be just me though.

I guess a lot of this is just my personal taste but I think a lot of other people might agree with me. Or maybe not. Tell me what you think! :)

Discussion loved season 5!!

i think some people look for problems and look to be disappointed in the media they consume. i think because of that it’s important to also know that people hold the opposite opinion :) season 5 was wonderful in my opinion! it was very obviously experimental given that they knew season 6 was guaranteed and it made for such a new feeling; it reminded me of season 2 and 3 mixed together honestly! i thought the ideas were fresh, the conflicts realistic but fun, and the financial arc frustrating but rewarding! i love how ghost powers were expanded, we got to actually see how a living x ghost relationship might work out (and why it may fail), add new layers to sam and jay’s relationship as secrets come to light and how they overcame them, expanded the characters and now mark knows about the ghosts!! i’m so excited about how many doors that just opened!! i also thought it was really interesting to see how they keep the ghosts being grounded in being awful while still providing them growth. you know it’s not your first thought that’s important but what you make the choice to do that does; that made me think about trevor’s arc this season. i rewatch this season just as much as the previous ones and i absolutely can’t wait for season 6!!

what did you enjoy about season 5? what from the season are you hoping they expand on? :)

Spoilers ghost powers tier list !! :) Spoiler

S: Pete, Joan, Chris the stripper

Being able to go anywhere you want (for free) & meeting new ghosts all the time is a HUGE privilege compared to other ghosts that have to spend decades and even centuries in the same space with the same few ghosts. And what if the house at some point inevitably gets torn down? For me personally it’s the absolute best ghost power even if they do not have the ability to interact with livings or physical objects.

A: Sass, Trevor, Hetty

Actually cool & useful ways to communicate with livings & physical objects.

I didn’t put Hettyā€˜s power higher bc it is only once a year and I still don’t find it as cool as leaving the property.

B: Patience

Just a reminder, Patience can also write with the blood. We don’t know though how much she can write (she ran out of blood after writing SIN, but in very large letters, so maybe if she wrote smaller, she could write more?) & how long it takes her to write. So it’s a way to communicate with livings & i like that it’s creepy but I feel like it’s just SLIGHTLY less cool & useful than Sass & Trevorā€˜s powers.

C: Elias, Flower, Alberta, ThorĀ

Neat & fun to mess with livings but not super useful.

D: cholera ghosts

I don’t really see it being very useful except in very specific situations.

E: Isaac, Samā€˜s Mom

If I was a ghost & these were my ghosts powers it would genuinely piss me OFF!Ā

Spoilers My opinion on season 5. Spoiler

This is my first time writing in this thread, usually I just read and upvote but I just felt like expressing my opinion. I really like this show, I hadn't had the opportunity to watch the UK version of it yet.

I have been enjoying the show so far until season 5 šŸ’” I am on episode 18 right now. I have to admit the whole season was a hard watch and a lot of skips on my end. It feels like we are losing the plot. The ghosts are greedy and selfish and they are LITERALLY abusing of Sam's kindness. They dont care if she and Jay have issues, which are mainly caused by them and always whine to have more and more. The first seasons were nicer because it showed that there was a mutual cooperation amongst ghost and human but now the relationship is more parasiting from the ghosts' part.

Like the nerve of Trevor to commit tax fraud and pin his issue on Jay... as if a ghost has any business working and instead of helpin by giving his money he just watch as they struggle to gather money and then says "I am sick of watching them make bad business decisions" - ep18 17min3, if he is good in finance and in earning money why didnt they write him as helping Sam and Jay out with their business.

I know the whole thing about being a ghost is that they dont have a sense of purpose and that they like when they can do something but why does it always have to end up bad for Jay and Sam. We are on season 5, the business is still struggling, Sam has barely any living friends, she caters to all the ghosts needs and barely has time to take care of herself. Why did they write her to be such a pushover??

Its really hard to watch this season and having to root for the characters, none of them have redeemable qualities that would make me feel sympathy for them because none of them care about the actual people that have been helping them with their issues. Its giving spoiled brats that take everything for granted...

And I will be honest, the christmas episodes (ep 9 and 10) is the one I enjoyed the most, mainly the part where Carol showed a world where Sam wasnt able to see ghosts, aside from the part where she and Jay argue all the time. But this was possibly the only episode where the ghosts actually contributed in helping Sam. But I do agree that Sam's life would have been slightly better if she couldn't see the ghosts.

My other issue with this season is that the writers are going out of their way to make sure Sam and Jay are constantly miserable, NOTHING good happened to them. Aside from Sam promoting her vampire book. Its just watching them struggle one episode after the other, I wouldnt be surprised if they end up selling the mansion, and I know for a fact that the ghost wouldnt care as much because they have Kyle now, who is as much of a pushover as Sam...šŸ’”

The only character I actually like in this season is Patience, that is how bad this is going for me...

I am sorry for my ranting, I just cannot keep it for myself anymore, its just so frustrating. I understand the logic, I am sure that many, me included as ghost would be selfish as well if someone could see me and was nice enough to do whatever I want for five years without ever putting their foot down. But its like they have no moral or compassion anymore, they barely think about anyone else but themselves, its just frustrating and sad...

thanks for reading my rant, feel free to tell me if you disagree with me.

also I apologize in advance if my grammar sucks, english isnt my first language.

Spoilers Cholera Ghosts Epiphany

We're a little behind, but finally wrapping up season 5. We just finished episode 21 in which we see Nancy ingest the cholera-filled water. I'm embarrassed to say that, up until that moment, I had no idea what the basement ghosts' fascination was with the water heater: it heats it up, destroying harmful bacteria (like cholera), which would most likely have prevented them from dying. I thought it was just the occasional gurgle that made them focus so much on it.

They're literally obsessed with an invention that would have saved their lives! Kind of sad when you think about it.

Episode Discussion S4/10 hetty and pete Spoiler

Near the end of the episode, pete touches hetty on the shoulder and hetty flinches and pulls away. Anyone else catch this? Think it was just being in character, or was the actress really uncomfortable being touched by the actor?

So this is one to fire up for Jay’s ghost notes….i wonder if when the writers chose Trevor’s fake job name to be MJ, whether they knew Michael Jackson and Stephen King made a 40-min long music video titled ā€œGhostsā€ released in 1996 and screened at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival. Found it on YouTube, about to watch, may report back…

Discussion EU watcher: Where do I find season 5?

I’m watching on Netflix but my country’s app only haha the first four seasons and the 4th only dropped a month or two ago at most, but I keep seeing smaller spoilers for the 5th season online and want in! I also really wanna know if Mark’s son makes a reappearance and can see the ghosts still or will remember when he gets a little older…

Is there anywhere I can watch the 5th season so I can avoid more spoilers and catch up with all of you? I even saw a 6th season had been announced, I’m very excited and jealous that we get the episodes so much later than all of you outside the EU.
