Ghost stories

Im pretty positive I have a ghost in my house but theres no one who died in my house im pretty sure he attached himself to me.

It all started in 2019 I was in my kitchen getting a snack and I heard a hello I turned around and saw a tall male black figure standing in my door way I turned back around to grab a weapon thinking someone was in my house but when I turned back around he was gone.

Its been years living with him and he has been being more active he has removed the blankets off my feet twice, hes touched me, played my music boxes and threw things just a couple minutes ago I saw him again standing in the kitchen door way as I came downstairs I thought nothing of it until I went back upstairs and my sister came into my room telling me her ceiling fan spun by itself.

Experience Petrol station poltergeist?

This happened to me not half an hour ago in London, UK. I filled up my car at a petrol station, locked it. Paid at the kiosk. When I turned on my car my wipers came on, must have not have knocked the stalk I thought and turned them off (it’s a dry day so I didn’t have them on before or anything).

Then a few seconds later after setting off (I really should do this before moving!) I always have a little check of the dashboard to make sure everything’s ok and to my horror this time I’d been giving the guy moved pulled out behind the full beams on my headlights. So that meant my left stalk was pushed forwards.. and whilst I always check my main beams aren’t on if they shouldn’t be, they literally never are.

So today I was either super clumsy and knocked both stalks getting out of the car… or a prankster poltergeist or similar jumped in and had some fun whilst I was filling in the tank. Who knows? The fact that it was both is what made me post.

Took me 20 years to prove that my stepdads house was built on haunted land.

This is a ghost story that took me a very long time to be able to tell. It is real but it's also a story about trust. Self trust. You must trust what you experience and trust yourself even if nobody supports you or believes you. Believe yourself despite others disbelief. I'm so serious when I say that. If I hadn't believed myself and had doubted what I experienced, I wouldn't be able to tell this story the same way today. So let's go back to a age 7, year 2004. My family (mom brother and I) would spend weekends at my stepfather and his daughters townhouse. He lived in a suburb 30 minutes outside of Washington DC. The community was a large single family home -townhome community built in the mid to late 90s. I loved going to his house. Not for any special reason, I just got along really well with my stepdad and his daughter and enjoyed being around them. They have been in my life since I was 2 and I saw them no different from the rest of my family.

Anyways, one particular night, my family was on the second floor of the home in the living room/ kitchen. The basement was the area for the kids to hangout usually. I recall my parents were watching something very boring on tv so I had decided to go to the basement to watch Disney channel. In the basement, the TV was on the far end of the room exact opposite of the stairs so if you are facing the tv, your back is towards the stairs. I recall sitting in front of that very large tv and feeling sleepy. I had a Pocahontas sleeping bag that I'd always bring with me over to his house and it was already laid out on the ground about 4 feet behind me. I decided to go lay in it and crawled in and I remember zipping up the side of the sleeping bag. Then I started to pull the top part of the sleeping bag cover over my head. I swear to you guys I am telling the truth when I say this happened....as soon as I pulled that cover over my head, I felt the bottom of the sleeping bag get grabbed and tugged very abruptly. It was super quick but aggressive. I immediately lifted my head up out the cover to see literally nothing there. I expected to see my brother because he is the one that usually messes with me but there was nobody there. The timing from the point of me feeling that abrupt tug/pull and lifting the cover was too quick for anyone to run away without me seeing them. It was a matter of very quick couple of seconds. I didn't understand what had just happened so I still chose to believe that it was my brother messing with me. I stormed upstairs and yelled at him to stop messing with me and he looked at me with a very confused look. And I told him he pulled me in my sleeping bag and he got annoyed and said he didn't. And I looked over at my stepsister and saw her just kinda looking at me with this blank confused stare. In that moment, I felt uncomfortable like I couldn't make sense or even figure out what I had just experienced. The idea of paranormal had not crossed my mind because I wasn't aware that stuff like that existed so it wasn't in my mind. I just felt this fear that was paired with confusion and I went to my mom and climbed on her lap and tried to forget about it like it never happened. Tbh I didn't think about for a long time until a couple years later, I was 9. We were at my stepdads house again and we're eating cereal in the kitchen. My two cousins were with us this time. My brother and cousins all slept in the basement the night before. We were all just talking when my brother suddenly says that he woke up really early and he saw these two cloudy shapes in the basement. One was lighter in shade and one was darker and he said he saw them moving in circles almost like one was following the other and he didn't understand what he was seeing. I remembered that and never forgot it. I didn't yet connect what he saw to what I had experienced a couple years earlier.

Let's now skip to age 19. I had completely forgot about all of this and still never came to the conclusion that there was paranormal activity in my stepdads house. In 2008, we all moved into another home together and my stepdad kept his townhome and rented it out to tenants. I hadn't been back to his townhouse in years. I recalled at one random point, the memories of my experience and my brothers story and I thought about it and was like wait a second ...what was that? You see, I completely blocked all that out as if it never happened so when it came back to me all those years later I was thinking woah. That happened. I forgot, but my awareness was much more than 7 year old me so I started to question what actually happened and what did we really experience. I asked my stepdad when his house was built and who lived there before him and he said that it was built in 1991 and that he was the first owner. I thought well how can I make sense of this if he was the only owner. I didn't share with him at that time what was in my mind or the experience I or my brother had.

After some time, I considered maybe if there were something that actually happened, what if it were connected to the land rather than the house. So this was the first time I spoke about it to my stepdad. I told him I believed that the land his house was built on had something else there prior because of the strange experiences I and my brother had. Now because I am the youngest, my parents have a habit of calling me the peanut gallery and ignoring what I say. I knew he wouldn't take me seriously but I said it anyway. And I kept saying it after that. I kept telling him that I believe something happened on the land his house was built on before that neighborhood was built. I never got a response from him, just ignored. Which I was used to. I even told my mother. Now we jump to age 25. I'm out with my mom and a new friend of hers. That friend and I got into a deep conversation about spirituality when she randomly brought up this community. She named the community that my stepdads townhouse happened to be in and she had no previous knowledge that he had a house there. She just randomly. Brought it up herself saying she had friends who bought a house there and I got chills all over my body. I'm actually getting teary writing this now (it happens when I get excited) she brings up her friends that bought a house in that neighborhood and I froze and told her that I know exactly what she's about to say and she looked at me with a open mouth and said "how do you know??" And I said because my stepdad has a house in the same community. She proceeds to tell me that her friends who bought a single family home in the same community had experienced paranormal like activity in their home so much that they eventually moved out.

The main area of activity was the closest of their master bedroom for some reason. I told her my experiences and then she explained to me that the land used to be a plantation that had slaves and was owned by a very wealthy family. We looked it up and sure enough, all the information was right there on wikipedia about the family. I looked at my mom and I said "see? I had been telling you guys for years and now it's not just me saying this." She did acknowledge that I had been claiming the land was haunted but my mom is very religious and I think this kind of stuff scares her so she didn't say much. End of story right?.....NOPE.

Skip about two more years later, I'm driving and it's October, I hear on the radio, the radio host is interviewing a man who lives in a home that is considered the most haunted house in the entire state of Maryland. Apparently he bought the property in 2018 and while renovating it, he and everyone else who came to the house witnessed undeniable activity. The house gained large attraction and ghost hunters from all over the country had traveled to this location to do investigations and have all confirmed the activity. He was opening his house up to the public for the month to do tours. Now, I love Halloween and a good spook so out of curiosity, looked up this place on Google maps, and to my absolute shock, the I saw that the house was right there in my stepfathers community. An old house surrounded by new single family homes. I got chills and excitement because now I felt like I had all the puzzle pieces in place. Turns out that in addition to the plantation, there was a revolutionary war burial ground in the area and the house itself belonged to the family of the man that our town was named after. Out of pure excitement and vindication, I called my stepdad and mother and told them everything, they looked it up and and both went silent. They had this shocked sort of response. I was excited because by this point, I was able to prove that I was right all along but I think I overlooked how scared they both looked lol. Anyways, they both believed me by then and took it very seriously. Honestly I was more excited to be able to prove that I wasn't wrong all along haha. We went to see the house but didn't go inside, I'm a scaredy cat. So anyways yeah, stick to your truth even if nobody else sees it.

For those who are interested in knowing about the house, here is the owner in an interview

I don’t believe in ghosts but this is weird.

Sorry if my grammar/spelling is bad this is rushed.

As of recently I’ve been having some really weird experiences with seeing things and hearing things in and around my house. I’ve always been sceptical of ghosts and stuff and usually I’m on the science side of things but I honestly don’t know what to think at this point.

it started maybe a couple of months ago when I began hearing people shouting my name from different rooms of my house, now this didn’t really strike me at the time as paranormal as I’ve had this before, years prior when suffering from PTSD. Now idk if anyone else understands what I mean but when I was suffering from this it was my mothers voice shouting me from downstairs (she wasn’t in the house) after months it eventually stopped and has now been 4 years since I’ve heard anything like it. But it’s no longer my mother. The voice is hard to describe and sometimes changes pitch but mostly it’s high like some sort of animal or child.

I understand with living in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by fields and forest that some animals can sound REALLY human but I’ve never heard anything like this. Whenever it is says my name it sometimes like drags the name out. For example it can be like: “Amelia!” Or “ameliaaaaa?”
Now it doesn’t sound exactly like my name but it’s near enough on point.

it’s happened maybe 5 times in 4 months and for the first few times I replied thinking maybe my family was home early, it doesn’t answer but I always end up checking the house just out of confusion.

Now this was something I was really fucking freaked out by but what lead me to make this post was what happened last night.

For context I own a lot of animals but mostly cats which live in and around my house, on a night I sleep with my bedroom windows wide open so I can hear what’s going on outside on my drive.
One of my cats sometimes cries outside for me to let him in at ungodly times of night so I usually go downstairs to let him up so he can sleep with me.
This also might sound weird but owning 6 cats I’ve come to know which each of them sounds like and especially the one that I have to let in on a night as he’s a big Tom cat with quite a distinct meow.

when I got up to let him in it was around 2am and all the streetlights were off infront of my house so I couldn’t see far past the porch light, I unlocked the door and crouched to call for him as I knew he was somewhere around me. To my left is my dad’s truck and to my right is my living room windowsill that hangs over and is pitch black underneath. ( it’s hard to describe sorry.)

I was maybe crouched for 20 seconds before something ran toward me from under the windowsill where I couldn’t see, I could hear how heavy it was and how insanely fast it was moving against the gravel.I know sure as shit it wasn’t any animal from around where I live. And definitely not my cat. I shut the door, locked it and sat on the floor for maybe 15 minutes to just wrap my head around what had just happened. When I finally got up it dawned on me that my windows upstairs were wide open so I shut them as quickly as I could and tried to calm myself down which took hours before I could actually sleep.

All I could think about was the fact that I hadn’t seen my cat and if he was out there, the fact that he hadn’t come to me when I called him makes me think it was the same thing shouting my name only this time using my cat as bait or something.

I used to love sitting outside at night with my dogs but now I’m honestly petrified to even have my windows open at night.
If anyone has any ideas what this could be it would be appreciated as I’m scared shitless.

Advice Still on going and Not sure what to do next

Hi! Im 26 and my small family lives with family. [Sounds confusing but will elaborate soon]

People included: My spouse, we have a 2 y/o daughter and 5 month old son. We live with my grandma, my grandpa, and my uncle.

We have resided in this house for going on 5 years. From the start my uncle claims there was a ghost here, my grandma agreed but I thought nothing of it since every house we lived in she always says there's a ghost there. I am not religious [not to any specific religion] but I do believe in Spirits/Energy, Good and Bad. I believe in Karma, again good/bad. My partner and I got together 3 years ago, friends first then relationship.

Honestly, I never had anything occur living here. Not until a few weeks ago... lets estimate 3ish 4 weeks? But this is only the recording of 3 instances so far. We have this high shelf in our room that holds various of items. Books and just random stuff. One time when my spouse and our kids were in our room, a random book was almost like... thrown off the shelf. Weird? There was no fan, no breeze, everything was on evenly [not hanging off] and it was like a fast hard throw to the floor...

Shake it off, joke about it, no big deal. Right? Next time, I wasn't in the room, but when I came back my spouse says that another item was thrown from the shelf... ooookkaayyy, now I get a bit uneasy, but we joke again and try to shake it off.

Now the 3rd one wasn't from our shelf. It was from a bottom shelf on our computer desk that everything was lying evenly flat on. A booklet was flung straight out from it, my spouse witnessed this, I didn't, but I believe him. This incident made me uneasy. And its not just these incidents that made my skin crawl.

Our son was born early, 6 weeks early and stayed in the NICU for a few weeks. The nurses says he is a pretty good baby, doesn't cry much. But when we finally brought him home, it didn't take long for him to cry A LOT. I personally didn't think much of it since when my spouse was a baby his mom said he had bad colic. So we thought it was probably that... the only issue was that he was never constipated that usually goes hand in hand. I play it off as a velcro baby.

When I pay close attention to my son crying uncontrollably I feel like he's looking at something above me but theres nothing there. The only reason I finally decided to post this hastily because I had a dream today that really freaked me out, dealing with a demon trying to get my son.. I can tell more details of the dream if anyone is interested. Im at work right now, but ill post again when im off work of more details of all of this when I have the time. Just finished telling my boss what's going on, he thinks its interesting. Ill answer any questions anyone has. There's also this one book I found in a car at work [im a auto detailer] that is some Demonology book, I feel like taking it home made things worse. When stuff started flying off shelves after I brought it home. I never brought it in the house, just kept it in our car. I know it sounds stupid I brought it home, but I was intrigued by it and thought it would be an interesting read. I still want to read it before I get rid of it.

Anything I should do?

the lady in black

hello! this is a true sorry that happened to me around 2011-12? (I was around 4-5 years old) so to begin my mom took a trip to Puerto Rico (i was not with her) and during my mom stay, I remember her telling me that a random lady came up to her and put her hands above my mom‘s head, kind of like in a circle motion (not to sure) but I recently asked my mom what does she think happened and she claims that she was cursed. A little bit after my mom came back from her trip. Things around the house started to be different. this one particular night I was sleeping in my room and I randomly woke up with like a deep sense of something not right and I was so young so a bit confused. So I hid it underneath my blanket. Just wear my eyes can peek from the covers so I can see. This lady dressed in all black came from my TV kind of like the movie the ring. Then she slowly walks into my pitch black closet. She was wearing all black and had a veil or something kinda covering her face, also she was a bit short. I just remember being so terrified. I honestly don’t remember what happened after that. All I know is that my mom used sage on the closet shortly after me telling her. I was just so young and terrified. I’ve been looking on the Internet to see if anyone has the same story related to me or seen the lady in Black. I just want answers and I want to know who and what did I see that night?

Experience My Friend Sarah

The dreams started long before anything happened.

The dreams seemed so real. So real when I would wake up in my bed, heart slamming in my chest, I had to remind myself that it had not happened.

The first dream that truly scared me was in my basement bedroom. In my dream, I stood in the middle of the room, surrounded by my things and familiarity. When all of a sudden, I felt this dread grow like a seed from the pit of my stomach. I could feel myself start to panic, even though I could not see anything out of the normal. My chest felt tight and this sense of doom started filling the room. I found myself staring at the door of my bedroom, and despite not seeing anyone there, it felt like there was someone else in the room. It felt angry, and rage-filled. Full of hatred and disgust.

I felt this voice start drilling into my skull. Loud, and violent. Every word was like a knife slash through the fog.

“I HATE YOU.”

“GET OUT.”

“I WILL KILL YOU.”

I started scanning the air trying to find the voice. But it was like it was coming from the doorway. as if she was standing there screaming, feeling the vibration and strength of the woman’s voice.

I couldn’t see her. I started spinning, trying to see if there was anyone in the room, while the voice got more loud, and more violent. Every word was dripping in pure acid, bubbling over from this invisible force.

“I HATE Y”-

Then I woke up.

From then, that’s when the stranger things began to happen.

A knock on the door late at night, but nobody there to answer it.

A breeze when the windows are shut.

But it was more than that.

The basement became… dark. Not as if the lights wouldn’t turn on, but…heavy. The air seemed smogged with something no one could quite put their finger on. Friends that would come over never seemed quite settled, no matter how many drinks I could offer or snacks I could prepare. I tried to make it more homey- a lit candle on the coffee table, fuzzy blankets for the couch, and photographs on the walls. But nothing worked. The sense of dread was painted on the walls.

My sister stopped going down alone at night. And at first couldn’t really say why.

When we started seeing shadows darting across the basement from the stairs, she began sleeping in my bed with me.

The shadows would scurry around, and duck around objects. Little dark figures running and disappearing into closets and doorways. Sometimes, when looking into a dark room, it seemed as if there was something looking back at you. A figure. A shadow. Something blacker then the darkness around it - just enough you can see an outline of something you wish wasn’t there.

The dreams continued. I woke up one night, frantically being shook awake by my partner at the time.

“It sounded like you were choking.” As he hugged me tight.

I didn’t want to tell him that in my dreams, the woman- this invisible force had him by the throat, choking the life out of him while I couldn’t do anything but scream. That was, until it felt like the darkness in my dream turned its sights to me. Just as I woke up, I could feel this snake like-force begin to wrap around my neck.

I was scared. I didn’t know what to do. I felt like I was going to be stuck with this darkness forever. Like this smog in the air was beginning to be too much, and I couldn’t breathe.

Until my final dream.

The women wore a short, cream coloured slip, withered and worn. It hung loosely off of her as she stood.  There was a large hole ripped in the fabric with dirt staining every stitch. Splattered across her face was long black, knotted matts of hair, entangled and wet, pulling her head down.

Her skin was a grey-blue colour, visibility rotting of the bones of her arms and legs.

She stood there, legs bent unnaturally as if they had been terribly broken, caked with dirt and blood and death.

Then she started screaming at me.

“SARAH, MY NAME IS SARAH.”

Even in my dreams I felt my breath hitch.

“SARAH.”

I felt this pressure in my chest. Sarah.

She screamed again.

“MY NAME IS SARAH.”

Her voice was loud, filled with rage. Sarah.

I could begin to feel myself panic. I wanted to turn away, not look at her. But I couldn’t.

Sarah.

Just as the woman reached out for me, I woke up. I opened my eyes and starred at the ceiling.

Sarah.

I was terrified, I felt my heart slamming in my chest. But I only had one thing on my mind after that. Every time I closed by eyes, the only thing I saw was the name Sarah. I heard it. I felt it. It was like it was tattooed on the inside of my eyelids. Sarah.

Sarah. Sarah. Sarah.

Sarah.

Some time later, I was doing a project for class when it lead me to the archives of the history of our little town.  I skimmed through pages upon things I knew, some things I didn’t. Looking for a photograph of an old house on Main Street. Going through the research, I came across an old story which caught my eye.

I scrolled down, reading the article, holding my breath.

That’s when I saw it.

My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach.

I felt hot.

I had goosebumps go over my entire body.

There was a drawing of a women from the story, a respectable man’s daughter who married the town doctor.

In the drawing of the woman, she was wearing a green dress, with a white collar. However it wasn’t the dress that grabbed my attention. I first noticed the long, messy black hair that fell down her back. Her face an expression of distance, cold.

Recognizable.

Her eyes stared back at mine through the screen. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t believe it, until I saw her name below.

Sarah King.

I was looking at the woman from my dreams.

I read the story. I looked at maps. I traced old land registries. And the same drawing of Sarah King kept popping up. The woman from my dreams.

After being fed lie after lie, Sarah King was murdered by her husband, the town doctor in 1858.

In efforts to uncover the result of her death, Sarah was truly laid to rest only after being examined several times, re-burying her each time.

Justice was served when the town Doctor was executed, the County’s one and only recorded execution to this date.

After this, I found myself standing in the basement.

Nervous, I looked around and said out loud,

“Sarah?”

The basement still felt the same, dark, trapped. I started speaking to her.

I told her I knew who she was.

I knew her story.

And I told her,

“I’m sorry for what happened to you.”

From then, things changed. Things started to lift.

Light seemed to start to trickle in from invisible cracks in the walls, the fog seemed to dissipate. The basement didn’t seem like a dark place anymore. The candle burning glowed this warm light, and friends sat down with love and laughter. The room began to be filled with relaxation and calm.

I haven’t had a dream about Sarah since. But I know she’s around. But this time, it’s not scary. It’s … familiar. It’s comfortable. I still speak with her, tell her silly things like “Merry Christmas”, while I string up soft Christmas lights or tell her when my boyfriend is coming over, and to not be afraid.
I have never told anyone this story before. I find myself almost protective of Sarah. I tell her everything is okay, that I'm okay. And when I'm not, I tell her that too.

These days, she’s more like a friend. My friend Sarah.

Three taps on foot, woke up to human-shaped figure

I had a ghost experience last night. Felt three fast taps on my foot, woke up to see briefly a human-sized figure at my feet that went away very fast, almost like dust in the wind. I have a lot of sleep disturbances, but this was still odd.

Experience My uncle's dead patient came back asking for his medicine at night.

Happened to my distant uncle (my dad's cousin) and it still gives me chills.

So this happened to a distant uncle of mine (I call him Taya ji, my father's older cousin). This was about 50-55 years ago back when he worked as a pharmacist at the zonal hospital of our district in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India under the State Health Department.
Back then there was a serious shortage of trained staff in government hospitals, more so in case of this hospital since the district is geographically remote and it always had dearth of employees, so people were stretched thin. Taya ji used to be on duty with a TB doctor. His house was barely a 15 minute walk from the hospital.

There was one TB patient who came in every single day without fail so Taya ji knew his face well, you know how it is when you see the same person daily. One evening he mentioned to the ward boy that this guy had not shown up in four or five days which was odd because he never missed a day. The ward boy told him, "Sir, he'd been really unwell for a while and he actually passed away this morning." Then the ward boy went off to his own room which I think was on the floor above.

That same night Taya ji was sitting alone in his cabin when he suddenly heard footsteps approaching. Now, this floor of the hospital didn't have any patients. It was just doctor’s and staff rooms and at night only the duty staff would be around. So hearing footsteps at that hour was already strange. He kept his eyes fixed on the door waiting to see who it was. And the second he looked he nearly lost it. Standing at the door was the same patient. The one who had died that very morning. The man knocked and said, "Doctor sahab, give me my medicine."

There happened to be his lab coat lying on the table. Apparently people in the health department who believe in this stuff say a lab coat acts like a kind of shield that whatever "it" is, it can't touch or harm you if you're wearing one. So he grabbed it and threw it on without thinking twice. The patient just stood there a few feet from the table repeating over and over, "Doctor sahab, give me my medicine. Doctor sahab, give me my medicine." Taya ji didn't say a word, didn't even look at him. He just sat frozen in his chair trying not to make eye contact again. After a while that entity gave up and walked out the door and was never seen again. Taya ji stayed glued to that chair until the night watchman or someone else finally showed up.

Taya ji passed away in 2021. He wasn't the type to joke around or exaggerate. He was pretty serious no-nonsense guy his whole life. So when someone like that tells you something happened to him firsthand it's hard for me not to believe.

Something followed me home, and it tormented me for years.

As a child me and my family enjoyed going to amusement parks, my dad was always too big for them, growing up overweight, when he got a weight loss surgery and he got season passes to knotts along with six flags. We went at least 3 times a year, since knotts was the closest in distance compared to six flags.

One visit, around 10 years ago or more, im not sure of the exact year but, i do remember hi chew was sponsoring them at the time, handing out hi chew around the park.

I remember i was sitting in one of the rooms, laying on the bed, there was two beds, a dresser with a tv on it straight across the room. My step sister was on her stomach faced towards the wall on her phone, i was laying down watching tv waiting for our parents to get back from smoking. Watching tv when suddenly one of the drawers slowly opens, it didnt seem like it was gravity, the way it was pulled. I pause for a moment processing what i just saw, rationalizing it in my head, regardless of the eerie feeling i got. I turn to my sister. “Patricia?” “yeah?” “that drawer just opened on its own.“ She rolls over, looks at the dresser, says that it was most likely just the dresser not being leveled properly, and gravity was just doing its thing. I start to argue “why would it do it only now though?“ We’ve been in the room for at least 20 minutes at this point, but i guess her argument couldn't have been entirely untrue.

She starts to reply, and as she does, the drawer on the right side of the dresser slams open, way too hard for it to be gravity, very loud. And as we stared at each other for a moment i could feel my heart sink and it didnt feel like it was just a human reaction to something scary, it felt like we weren't alone. Within seconds our parents come back and patricia gets distracted. I try to tell my father what happened and he chalks it up to patricias argument, ”gravity”.

We go about our day at the park, i don't remember much of that. But im assuming it was a good day considering we were at a theme park. lol. Get back to the hotel, and i had a very vivid dream, of a shadow sitting to the side of my bed, i couldnt make out a face, but i just somehow knew they were staring straight at me. whatever it was, it felt like it was hours long. I woke up didnt want to scare anyone so i didnt say much about it … (my father is diagnosed schizophrenic so i didnt want to have him paranoid and worried about that especially on a vacation.)

Years go on, our at home life wasnt perfect, i wont give much context but i was abused, verbally, mentally and physically. Until now i had chalked up my hallucinations as mental health, and wounds from trauma. But now as an adult, i feel like things correlate a bit too much not to be connected in some way, Hold on tho! dont let me lose you, im completely aware this seems just like a schizophrenic rant, and maybe it is, but i make some seriously strong points….

I didnt start presenting major signs of poor mental health until shortly after that trip. I would talk about “shadow figures” in the kitchen at night, i would hear children playing outside on our lawn at night, the noise would get so uncomfortably loud until i looked out the window. Nothing, and the noise would stop. Ive seen shadows run past dark turns in our hallway, had horribly nightmares such as my mother being burner alive in acid, and yes while the nightmares could have been linked to stress from my home life, i had never been this distressed and had nightmares like that, ever.

One evening in specific i remember i was sitting in the living room, watching tv on the smart tv, we had one for our console and television, and the ps4 turned on by itself, didnt suspect anything really bad initially, because technology can be faulty sometimes, i got up to turn it off, turn back around, and from the hallway i see my father with what looked like two times the teeth he was supposed to have, smiling ear to ear, with solid black eyes. My dad had the most blinding blue eyes ever. I froze and they ducked behind the corner. I didnt dare going down the hall way, whatever it was i know it saw me look at it, but i still tried to pretend like i didnt see it.

I sat down and unpaused my show, and i heard the loudest crash and my father “scream” but it sounded distorted and just uncanny, it wasnt right. I was home alone , my step mother was at the hospital with her father who was ill, and my dad was a truck driver, doing an overnight hall. I ran to my neighbors house and asked to call my grandmother, and i refused to live there for a whole month. i would scream and scratch my skin off and flip out and rip chunks of my hair out whenever my dad would come over asking if i was ready to come home, until they ended up just telling me getting to stay at grandmas wasnt an option anymore.

Theres far more that has happened at that house other than what i listed, i just didnt want to go in a tangent and wanted to get the main parts across. One other thing, the second i moved from that town, i became a better person, and never had hallucinations like that ever again. i will admit, i do hallucinate but, its not like that, i am always able to rationalize it, i recognized when it happens im usually overly stressed, or just sleep deprived (i will go 1-3 days without proper sleep sometime) But i know that, what i expierenced there wasnt a hallucination, and it all ended when i left, and all of it started after i visited knotts.

Whenever i visit family, or friends and i have to go to that town, it feels like im being watched, and i have a huge pit in my stomach. last time i visited i smoked 3 packs of cigarettes in 5 days. it takes me a week to finish a pack normally. Just for reference how stressed i was. and the second i came back to town everything went wrong. Family problems that hadnt been apparent started falling down the second i got there, little cousin said her grandmother had meth, my cousin (her big sister) had to pick her up, we went to taco bell, and figured out on the way that her cat had gone missing. Next day her hedge hog had a hair wrapped around its foot and shit stuck to its foot so it was at risk of DEATH. did you know that?! hedge hogs can need amputation for a hair getting stuck on their toe, and they can DIE FROM THE SURGERY? jesus that shit was a trip. On the way to that appointment her tire popped also. My grandmother told me that she had someone living in her shed, every little thing they didnt know where to put in that house, they shoved in my old room so i had to sleep on a love seat where a 30 pound bulldog kept jumping nuts first into my face for 3 hours straight in the middle of the night , dog was named dirt bag. Accurate.

He lost the war and settle for sleeping on my legs, but yeah. Crazy shit. Let me know if u have questions or want to hear more. im more than willing to share.

Question Did I just see a ghost?

I've always been a believer, watching all the shows and I really wanted to go on ghost hunt. However yesterday i think i just casually witnessed a ghost?

I was walking to the shop at around 19:30 at night in england. I looked up and saw a women walking the other side in of the road but then a van went pass and she was gone. I looked back to see if a door closed but i saw nothing. I don't know if she is real person and just went down the side her house. She was an older woman and i don't think she could move that quick. I was stunned I kept looking back as I walking to the shop just so confused on what i saw. Thinking back i couldn't clearly see a face but i could tell she was woman.

I dont know what or who i saw. It may just be a person but how they quickly disappeared surprised me.

The Dark Truth Behind the Vanishings in the Northumberland Moorlands (Part 1: The Gatehouse)

Deep in the isolated moorlands of Northumberland, just southwest of Rothbury, lie the Simonside Hills. To standard tourists, it's a dramatic ridge of heather and craggy sandstone. But local rescue teams know a very different truth: over the last thirty years, more than a dozen hikers have completely vanished up there without leaving so much as a footprint behind.

The events of November 2021 involved a Newcastle university researcher named Sam, who was mapping old Anglo-Saxon boundary markers near the summit. Sam wasn't easily spooked—he had spent weeks alone in the wild. But he made one critical mistake: he stayed past dusk to finish recording GPS coordinates on the high ridge.

By 5:00 PM, an icy mountain fog blanketed the ridge. The wind died down instantly, dropping the ambient noise to absolute zero.

As Sam packed his gear, he heard a distinct sound echoing from the sandstone rocks below: a human voice calling his name.

"Sam... over here..."

It sounded like his colleague, Sarah, who was supposed to be waiting at the parking area two miles down. Relieved, Sam scrambled toward the sound. But as he rounded a massive boulder, the fog parted just enough for him to see Sarah—standing near the edge of a sheer drop-off, waving at him in complete darkness.

He took three steps forward, ready to call out, when his phone violently vibrated in his pocket. He pulled it out. It was a text message from Sarah: "Hey Sam, fog got too bad down at the car, I drove back to Rothbury an hour ago. Let me know when you're down."

Sam froze. The blood drained from his face.

He slowly looked back up at the figure standing in the mist. It was still waving at him... but its arm was bending at an angle no human elbow ever could.

Panic surged through him. Sam turned on his heel and sprinted in the opposite direction, tearing through the deep heather toward the valley. Behind him, the voice dropped its friendly tone, morphing into a harsh, metallic screech that echoed off the rocks. Heavy, four-legged thuds began pounding the ground directly behind him, closing the distance at terrifying speed.

Blindly fleeing through the mist, Sam saw the silhouette of Chillingham Castle's outer perimeter wall looming ahead in the distance—the only stone structure for miles.

Desperate, he scaled an ancient iron gate, vaulted into the forgotten stone courtyard, and slammed the heavy oak portal shut, sliding the rusted iron bolt into place just as something smashed violently against the outside of the wood.

Inside, Sam slumped against the door, hyperventilating in the pitch blackness. He pulled out his phone to call emergency services.

112 connected. A dispatch operator answered: "Northumbria Police, what's your location?"

Sam screamed into the mic: "I'm trapped at the old gatehouse ruin near Simonside! There's something outside trying to get in!"

The operator hesitated on the line. The background noise on the call suddenly faded into static.

Then, the dispatcher's voice on the phone shifted—smoothing out into the exact same metallic screech he had heard on the ridge.

"We know where you are, Sam. We've been inside the gatehouse the whole time."

Before Sam could even drop the phone, a beam from his headlamp flickered across the ceiling above him. Hanging upside down from the stone rafters—just inches from his face—was the figure from the ridge, smiling down at him in the dark.

Official police records from the next morning list Sam's vehicle as abandoned at the trailhead. Search and rescue operations were called off four days later due to sudden weather conditions, and no sign of Sam has ever been recovered.

I was really scared when I was a child.

Advice Being haunted by Coyote spirits? Advice needed

I just made this account, I watched a YouTube video on how to use reddit like a grandma or something so forgive any mistakes. Let's get into it (its a long story im sorry)

I live in north carolina, we have lots of Coyotes. If you live in an especially wooded area, you hear them at night. Sometimes they sound like screaming women, very unsettling. I live in a half-wooded apartment by myself at 27 years old. Its only a two hour drive away from north carolinas more mountainous areas, and me and my family like to go camping every summer since were close to some good spots.

One night, it was a week before a planned camping trip, I had a dream that I was in a standard-looking neighborhood. If you've lived in North Carolina you know what this looks like, cracked sidewalks, pot holes and old houses that look about ready to cave in. Some are fenced in with unkempt yards. Well, in this dream I was walking down the neighborhood, it was completely empty except for behind one of the fences.

There was a coyote but something was very wrong with it. It looked starved, with very long legs thst made it tower over the metal fence, its neck was broken and draped over the top of the fence, limp. It almost looked like a very poorly done taxidermy. But even though its neck was broken over the fence, its eyes were looking up at me, and suddenly all I could hear, very loud in my head, was the sound of several women screaming.

When I looked away from its eyes, it stopped, when I looked back, the loud screaming started up again. When I woke up, I kid you not, there was a coyote outside (I live on the first floor, my room has a large window that I like to crack open slightly at night since it gets very hot in my room).

It was a few feet away next to a large patch of trees. It was just sniffing the base of a tree and then walked back into the woods un bothered.

The flash forward to the camping trip, our campsite is very flat, with a creek like 30 feet away from where we had set up. There is a small dingy public restroom with a concrete path connected to it, that connected to the small parking lot.

In the middle of the night on the first night of our three day long trip, I had to pee real bad. I got my phone and turned the flash on and headed down the concrete path to the icky dingy bathroom. I was all the way down the path, a bit far from the bathroom.

Suddenly behind me I hear what sounds like little scampering paws following behind me, I turn and there's nothing there. Im in the woods so there's gonna be raccoons and possums about so I shrug it off. I hear it again and I look behind me and oh my gosh there's a coyote a few feet behind me. Id never been so close to one so I freaked out and just ran to the bathroom.

I peed and after a moment, I was like "its just a small coyote, its probably not going to approach me" so I just quickly jog back to my tent. A few more wierd things happened on the trip, like I stumbled upon a coyote carcass while hiking, and found an abnormal amount of coyote bones around the campsite. I took a jawbone home with me and bleached it (I have a collection of bones that I find on hikes, I have deer antlers and possum teeth and such)

I had the same dream on the last night except the tall coyote entity was looming over a bush near the creek of the campsite and in the morning there was a dead bird right outside my tent. Im so freaked the double hockey stick out right now. I feel like im being hunted or something. I've lived here my whole life and this kind of thing has never happened before. I looked it up and I cant find anything on mangled coyote spirits in NC. I thought it would be folkloric since it happened in near and in the mountains, like moth man or something.

The very disturbing part is that when I came home after the trip there was a dead bird on my welcome matt. Any ideas on what's haunting me or how to get rid of it? Because im seriously peeing my pants right now.

Unknown Had my first...contact?

I've never really had anything spooky happen to me. There was one time where I briefly had a moment with a ouija board, but that was about 20 years ago. Since then nothing but strange feelings here and there if I'm home alone and honestly I am probably just overthinking at that point.

Anyway, this weekend my partner and I attended a wedding out of town. After returning home I set to the task of getting all my hair supplies, makeup and jewelry put away that I had taken with. I take the bag of jewelry directly out of my bag and set it on top of my dresser so I can open my jewelry box. The jewelry box is made so that you must open the lid and both side compartments before you can pull out the storage drawers (this is important for later). I also had to move some things from in front of the box and pull it out to be able to do that.

Here is where it gets weird. I pull open a drawer and there sitting in the middle of a set of bangles is the ring I wore to the wedding. I'm confused at this point because the jewelry bag is not even open yet... how did it get in here? I start gas lighting myself and say, "maybe I didn't have it on like I thought". My bf gets home and I ask him if he remembers me wearing it there and he says yes. So then I start questioning if I just put it away in my rush to straighten up things, but all the stuff I had to move to get it in there wouldn't of been there... the rest of the jewelry would of also been put away... and also if I was going to put the ring away why did I not just put it in the top where it goes?

I tried not to acknowledge it too much and I almost didnt tell my bf because I didnt want him thinking I was insane. We sat for a while trying to run through all the possibilities... was it the same ring? Do we have pictures of me wearing it there? I just can not come up with any other logical reason that it would be where it was or how it got there without some kind of paranormal undertone.

This ring does have some sentimental backstory for me... it was one given to me by my grandmother on my father's side when I was in 6th grade. It was after my grandfather passed from his long battle with cancer to help to remember him. I no longer have contact with that side of my family and I almost wonder if something happened to her... or maybe it was my grandfather checking in on me and giving me a sign. This wedding opened up my bf and I talking a lot more about marriage and our future together... maybe it was just his way of getting my attention and giving his blessing to that.

Either way, it is 1am and I can't sleep with this mystery flooding my mind. I'm also a little worried this is just the beginning and acknowledging it was not a great idea.

Encounter Followed by a ghost?

I’ve never personally had any paranormal experiences, however my sister has & I’d love if someone might have any idea what this could be/has heard of this happening before?

My sister is now 36 years old, and when she was around the age of 6/7, she first encountered a “ghost” - it was a “tall thin man with a long black coat on, and a pointed face/angular features” - he was standing on the ground beneath our families apartment at the time & said “(her name), we need to talk” - she ran inside to tell our parents at the time who also remember this happening and said they couldn’t see anyone there, and believe it was just a stranger being a bit odd/they didn’t quite believe my sister heard right.

Anyways, several years later when she was a teenager she saw this same person again, and this time he waved at her from a distance near some shops.

She again saw him in her twenties & he waved, she said he always seems friendly - and it’s not that she ever sees him in her house, it’s always amongst people when she’s out.

She didn’t see him for a long time but only 3 days ago, she said she saw him again while she was driving passing a pedestrian crossing, he was standing on the island and waved at her as she drove by.

Every time she says it scares her & she freezes a bit, but she’s adamant on it and everyone in my family kind of makes a joke about it but I can tell by her that she’s telling the truth and he’s very real to her.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this at all?! Anyone versed in spooky things like this that might be able to give her some advice or even understand why this is happening to her?

Appreciate it!! 🤍

Experience A dead person called me

In my household, we have a leftover sim card/phone number which we barely use. My father used to use it and had some people's numbers and names saved. I needed to make a new telegram account, so naturally i thought about using that number for the new account. After making the account, I didn't do anything and wasn't active on that account. One night after 9, a male called me on that account. I didn't answer, I never answer unknown calls. (fyi the name was shown, let's call him Mark). A few weeks later, I asked my dad if he knew any Marks, and he said "Yeah, why?" so i told him how he called me... My father proceeded to tell me that "Mark" died a few months ago. (I wouldn't call this a "paranormal encounter" nor would i say it's unrealistic, it's just quite creepy)

Encounter My uncle saw my deceased uncle in the graveyard...

So this story was told to me by my uncle gary. I have to add that my uncle gary is honestly very skeptical. This man does not believe in the paranormal, supernatural, cryptids, or any of it. In fact, he has to see it for himself to even believe any of it...

So he used to work at a graveyard in Bedford county. And he was a maintenance man at this place. He would cut grass, fix things, and just do a lot of maintenance work. All the years that he worked at this place he never saw anything supernatural or paranormal. He always was skeptical and just never put a thought into the fact that there could be anything....

Well apparently the story goes as I was told. That he was out in the cemetery itself cutting grass. And he was just going along. He had to refill the lawn mower back up with gas so he decides to take and just stop the mower. As he was getting off of the mower he looked up and saw my uncle donnie just sitting on top of a tombstone watching him work...

Now I repeatedly have said that my uncle gary is a skeptic. He does not believe in any of it as he's told me many times...

Yet, he clarified to me with a straight face that was still looking honestly shocked and confused. That he saw his sister's husband in the cemetery...

Which I was shocked to even hear this. Let alone my uncle gary acknowledge anything paranormal or supernatural...

I can feel and see ghosts

Seeing them is a stretch, ive researched about this topic on reddit and most people can both see and touch them, but for me I feel them, theyre there, its easy to say if theyre a bad spirit of good spirit, you can see them really well ,theyre everywhere, like literally, just lurking around, and I can feel them, see them, but not touch them, they can interact with me,they bring me stuff, hide my stuff or just touch me sometimes, but when I try to only one in 10 times succeeds.

It feels as if theyre just waiting for me to freak out and acknowledge theyre there,if anyone is experienced with these or is experiencing the same things as me,please reply to me.
