Looking for Gift Ideas Xmas Gift Ideas For Dad and For Partner

Upvotes

I know it might seem early for some people, but I’m already thinking of Christmas gifts I could get.

I’ve got ideas for most people I need, but both my dad and my partner are difficult to buy for, so I’m looking for idea inspirations.

My dad is in is early 70’s and buys whatever he needs and/or wants as he feels like. He‘s acquired pretty much anything he could need or want over his life. For the past for years I’ve gotten him exotic meats, but I’ve kinda gotten all that is reasonable to obtain and afford. He used to work on cats as a hobby, but they’ve recently downsized and he’s gotten rid of all that. (Alcohol is not an option.)

My partner is in his mid 30’s, and never gives me any clues. He always says he doesn’t need or want anything. He doesn’t have his own place at the moment, renting just a room from a relative so he doesn’t have much space for excess stuff. His main hobby is video games. Last year I got him a model kit of a character he likes - he likes the gift, but the instructions were all in Japanese, and we can’t find English versions 😅.

For both I’m still thinking something food related, but I am open to other ideas as well.

Thanks in advance :)

Looking for Gift Ideas Torn between the rust and the camel for my sister this Christmas, which one gets pulled off the hook

Post image

i keep going back and forth on these two. she is one of those people who says i love it, drapes it around her shoulders once at the table, and then it lives in a drawer forever.

the safer camel goes with everything she owns but i cant picture her reaching for it. the rust is bolder, she has a black coat and a grey coat and both would work with it, but i worry something bright ends up as a one time wear on the day she opens it.

if someone handed you these two side by side, which one leaves the house this winter and which one just sits there.

What present should I get for the lecturer who got me through uni?

I want to get something for one of my lecturers who genuinely is one of the few reasons that I've actually passed and will be able to graduate. He really went above and beyond for me so I want to do something to show my appreciation.

I was thinking maybe a bottle of whiskey but my dad made a joke saying something like 'you don't know, what if he's an alcoholic' and now I'm overthinking it. And what if he doesn't drink or he doesn't like whiskey idk.

I don't want to just get him a box of chocolates because that feels very small and low effort. But I might end up going for that if I can't think of anything better because I at least know that it's an acceptable gift.

Also, would it be cringe to give him a thank you card?

I'd love any advice at all, thoughts, suggestions, etc? Is there anything you've given to a lecturer or professor? Or if you work in academia, is there anything you've received from a student that you liked?

Thank you.

Edit: He's in his forties if that is any help

First Baby Gift

Upvotes

My boss is having her first baby and I want to give her a gift. She is due in December so I am planning now in case I decide to make something. She is incredibly particular (has been known to throw away gifts in the past). I am open to making something for her, I crocheted her a lovey last christmas based on her dog that had recently passed as I knew she was trying at that time and I got her a book and hand made card for her first mother’s day this year. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Looking for Gift Ideas Birthday Gift for a Stranger

Upvotes

We're new in the neighborhood, and a gregarious neighbor has invited us to her son's 35th birthday party. He will be visiting from out-of-state, so I don't want to clog up his suitcase with unnecessary and unwanted junk. And I don't know much about him - but we don't want to skip the party, as it's our first opportunity to meet several of the neighbors. Thoughts?

PS. The birthday boy is traveling with his new girlfriend, in case that helps.

Gift for theatre lover - HELP!

One of my good friends has a birthday coming up and I REALLY need some ideas of what I could get. She’s mid-40s and absolutely loves the theatre so I was thinking maybe something down that route but, as I’m not such a huge theatre fan, I’m not sure what types of things I should be considering.

I’m in Australia and would need it to be delivered before 12 September and I have a budget of around $100-150. She’ll be flying so can’t be anything super heavy or large and I’d prefer to stay away from clothing.

If anyone has any suggestions, I’d be eternally grateful. Thanks!

Buying for someone who loves wellness routines but absolutely despises physical clutter?

My sister is super into active recovery and self-care but she lives in a tiny studio apartment where counter space is practically nonexistent. Every time family members get her wellness-related items like fancy bath teas or bulky muscle rollers, she politelly smiles and hides them deep inside a closet six months later.

Her birthday is coming up and I want to get something she will actually use. I have been considering a compact wellness items uch as a small massager or an eye wrap but Im a bit paranoid it will become another dusty plastic box under her bed.

those living in cramped apartments who actually use wellness gear weekly, what makes an item earn a permanent spot on your nightstand instead of getting dumped in storage?? Is there a subtle sign that tells you a gadget will not end up neglected?

Looking for Gift Ideas Gift for a mom friend

Looking ahead to Christmas here - an acquaintance of mine recently told that last year, she had several family members and friends send gifts to her to wrap for her family (including her husband) but received no gifts from these people for herself. I want to give her something nice this year. Budget ~$100. She has 4 kids and is expecting another so something really special just for her!

Looking for Gift Ideas What do you give someone when the occasion is important but they genuinely don't need anything?

Some of the hardest people to shop for aren't picky. They simply don't need more things.

For those situations, it can help to think beyond finding another object to wrap. Something consumable, an experience, an upgrade to something they already own, or something connected to a specific moment can sometimes make more sense.

The challenge is finding something that still feels appropriate for the occasion without adding unnecessary clutter.

Unique birthday gift for a book lover who already owns every novel?

Trying to pick a birthday gift for an avid reader friend who reads constantly but geting them actual books is impossible since their to-read shelf is already overflowing. I saw those illuminated DIY wooden bookshelf inserts and thought it might be a fun literary desk decor piece but Im woried it feels like homework if they aren't already into intricate crafts.

Would an avid reader actually enjoy building something like that or is a finished decorative piece safer?

Looking for Gift Ideas Gift ideas for a middle schooler who’s getting into fishing?

My younger brother recently got really into fishing, and I want to get him something fishing-related for his birthday. He already has a rod/pole, line, bait, and a net, so I’m not sure what else would actually be useful.

I was thinking about getting him a small fishing sling bag/pouch (kind of like a fanny pack), but I don’t fish myself so I have no idea if that’s actually useful.

What are some tools/accessories that someone who fishes would genuinely use and appreciate? Looking for something practical rather than just a random fishing-themed gift. Thanks!

What personalized gift have you actually kept using for years?

I’m curious what makes a personalized gift feel genuinely thoughtful instead of becoming clutter. Was it the item itself, the memory attached to it, or how subtle the personalization was?

Looking for Gift Ideas $100–$150 Gift for 20 Clients

I need to send gifts to around 20 clients and have roughly $100–$150 per person to work with. I'd like to avoid generic gift cards or company-branded merchandise.

Wine is the one option I'm considering, but I'm open to other ideas too. If you had this budget, what would you send?

Looking for Gift Ideas What can i buy as a thank you gift for my neighbor for cat sitting?

She is 46 years old and has a 11 y/o daughter. They are going to be cat sitting for a week while we are on vacation (idrk what else to add)
Ps. It is kind of rude to give money out right to people in our culture. Saying this because it was suggested kind of a lot in other posts i made in other subreddits

Looking for Gift Ideas What's the best corporate/client gift you've actually received?

Not necessarily the most expensive one just something you genuinely thought was a good gift. I've received plenty of branded notebooks, mugs, etc., but the gifts I actually remember tend to be food, drinks, or something I can enjoy at home.

Curious what everyone else has received.

What's a good idea for a gift for a long distance relationship ?

My friend wants to give her boyfriend something from the heart – not exactly a bought gift but her idea for his next birthday (which is a bigger milestone since he'll be turning 18) was to give him 18 gifts and 18 letters from loved ones . She's looking for something similar as she previously planned to draw something for him but is panicking about running out of time (theres roughly 2 weeks left til his birthday) . I've been thinking of a scrapbook but they have no pictures together . Any ideas for something that would be meaningful but ideally free ?

Edit: also , it has to be online as she doesnt have any way to send it to him 🥲🥲

Help me win this fight!

My fiance and I get mad one of is spends money on the other. He lives halfway across the country, so we sometimes send gifts. He mentioned that he was grilling dinner, and I asked if he needed more steak. He admitted he had used all the steak I sent last time, but then told me I had better not send him more Omaha Steaks. You don't tell me what to do, so I ordered the him the biggest assortment they had.

He retaliated by sending flowers and chocolate. Well he loves cheese and especially likes snacking on cheese while watching his Packers games, so I sent him a cheese gift box from Cheese Brothers. Today he told me a dozen Runzas are on the way.

So now I need to get creative. He has two dogs, so I want to send something like gourmet dog treats. Bark Box is subscription, and this should be a one time gift. Any suggestions?

Looking for Gift Ideas What to get bf for bday

Hi everyone!
My boyfriend’s 24th bday is coming up and I have no clue what to get him :(
He’s interested in gaming on ps5, magic the gathering, and movies! Together we enjoy going to the movies, going out to eat at fun and interesting new places, and anything in the sorts of bowling/arcade/putt putt etc.
He already said he doesn’t want anymore playmats, dice or booster packs.
We just moved in together so I don’t have a big budget, probably under $150
Any input would be lovely.
Thanks! :)

Looking for Gift Ideas What could I ask for for my 21st Birthday?

I’m turning 21 in just a couple of weeks and my family are all asking me what I want for my birthday.

I’m a girl who is fairly shy, my hobbies are reading and writing but I already have so many books that I don’t need or want anything there. I don’t wear a lot of jewellery either and I already had that for my last birthday.

I have no idea what else to ask for and my family refuses to just give me money, so I need to think of something or they’ll just buy me something that I don’t want and won’t use. I’m completely stumped here so i’ll take any suggestions?

Looking for Gift Ideas Mom turns 60

My mother, who I love to death, turns 60. Me and my girlfriend want to buy her something special, either an experience or a gift. She wanted an ankle bracelet, because that looks good on her. But i feel shitty only showing up with an ankle bracelet for her 60th birthday.

She likes quality moments with me, my dad and my girlfriend, I am her only child so that is very special.
She likes wine, good food, is spiritual (is an acupuncture therapist and does naturopathy). She reads on her e-reader (sometimes). She likes to look good.

Any idea’s? Thanks!
