Question Need confirmation

Hi all the picuteres attached are from 3 different days. Ive tried to clean it with brake cleaner and after a drive the leak will be there.i dont think this is normal behaviour. Based off the pictures is it highlikely the oil cap is leaking? Both oil cap upper and lower timing cover has been resealed last year.

I replaced both my oil cap and the upper timing cover and within weeks it was weeping again.

Just be sure to check your oil level once every week or two and make sure it's good.

Unless your oil is running low I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Same. I replaced my oil cap and upper timing cover gasket. Still see wet plastic around the oil cap.

Alright thats comforting to know so its a never ending VW oil mystery i guess

If it’s a Volkswagen and oil is coming out of it at least you know it has oil in it.

You could also apply this phrase to BMW. 😂

Was your PCV valve assembly checked? It's not uncommon for the weeping to be caused by a malfunctioning PCV valve assembly (diaphragm or otherwise) since it will cause you to run outside of the slight vacuum that the system normally operates under. Oil cap weeping doesn't surprise me but a replaced upper timing cover makes me wonder if PCV valve failure is involved.

I agree with this statement, except i have the exact same issue, and i have a pcv delete and a catch can that is open to atmosphere, and I still get this issue

Pcv has been tested and is fine. I thought that might be a reason the month after I replaced the upper timing cover but it was OK.

All my VW's have got that moisture look to them around the cap

There’s a new revision oil cap (2020) that’s supposed to have a better seal. I just installed it, but have only driven a few miles, so I can’t say for sure if it’s a solution.
