Frustrations with Antigravity
I've been using Antigravity for a while now, and I've never been more frustrated. To begin with, Gemini 3.1 Pro is disappointing, and Gemini 3.7 Flash just seems to guess things without a proper train of thought. It often half-asses everything. I have no idea how it gets such good benchmark scores but fails at the easiest tasks. It seems to need extremely detailed prompts, unlike any other models, and even when I provide a proper prompt, I can't trust it. Most of the time, it just messes things up.
As for the quota on the Claude models, it's crazy! I asked it to run a PowerShell command, and it exhausted 50% of my 5-hour quota. I also have Ponytail installed, and I wonder if it's doing anything to reduce the burning tokens at all. As a student, I don't have the money to purchase a Claude plan or anything else, and it's been really frustrating. What do I do?

Gemini says itâs already 3.8⊠but is it actually 3.7 underneath? đ

i switched back to 3.1 pro
I swear this sub has just been gaslighting everyone about how good 3.7 flash is. Iâve been using it for a while and it is so bad; always forgets stuff, glosses over key information, tiny outputsâŠmy use case is currently just using it for revising MS Finance - oftentimes 20+ files uploaded in chat + quant studyâŠand oh my am I happy I switched back to 3.1 today.
Honestly anyone else feel like theyâre being gaslit about 3.7 flash? I swear itâs gotta be google bots trying to force everyone to use the cheaper/shitter model so they can save money.
Maybe for other use cases 3.7 flash is better

Help getting Gemini to provide a preview pane with html coding
Iâm using Gemini to make my Canvas class pages look better, and I have a good prompt to automatically format my existing lessons, but one time it gave me a preview pane directly in Gemini and I havenât been able to convince it to do it again. All the options it says will work donât trigger the preview pane. Is there something Iâm missing?

3.8 flash to release today with big agentic coding advances, 3.5 pro checkpoints officially scrapped because they were not much better than flash models, as per WSJ.

A BYOK Open Source Meeting Transcription and Summarisation Mac App using Gemini 3.5 Transcribe
I built a native Mac meeting transcription tool that captures both mic and system audio, sending it straight to the Gemini API for instant transcripts and summaries.
No third-party backend, no subscriptionsâjust bring your own API key and pay Google directly for what you use.
The App uses:
- Gemini 3.5 Transcribe
- Gemini 3.5 Flash
- Gemini 3.5 Flash Lite

Gemini Student 1 Year Free Trial
I claimed googleâs 1 year free trial of Gemini recently, and I was wondering if the models that are available are good enough for me to code an app that I can release to the App Store. Usually I hear that people use Claude or ChatGPT to code, so is Gemini good enough for my goals? I would appreciate any help, since Iâm pretty new to this process.

Disable Google AI overview while keeping helpful widgets like time zone conversions, definitions, Nearby locations, etc.
I just stumbled upon a way to hide Google AI overview. Similar to &udm=14 it is an argument that gets tacked on to the end of a Google Search URL. Google seems to have multiple different ways to disable AI overview, which I find ironic. This one differs in that it marks your browser as incompatible with Google AI. The other one I found &tbs=1 from this post hides the AI overview, but leaves AI mode as an option in the toolbar.
I'd love to hear from u/vk6_ how he found the &tbs=1. I found the &sec_act=d since I (guiltily) use Google AI mode. My guess is since the tab was open in the background when I unloaded my tabs, later I quickly cycled through the tabs to reload them and I'm on Firefox with tracking protection and most of uBlock's filters enabled, when the tab tried to load in the background, it couldn't execute some kind of script or didn't detect user activity and marked the browser as incompatible or a bot. I've noticed something similar with reddit If I'm trying to load a bunch of tabs in the background, reddit will keep loading and loading, but once I click on it, it will immediately finish loading.
While I do use some AGI models, I don't agree with how companies obtain the data to train them or how Google is advertising and especially how they are implementing it such as how u/vk6_ stated that Google replaced a lot of well-implemented widgets, such as the unit converter or definitions with an often incorrect AI, although they do show up sometimes for whatever for a reason. Nor do I agree with the pollution, deforestation, and other natural consequences or large data centers. Not to mention of economic problems where people are losing their jobs, component shortages or AI used in mass supply chain attacks. And there have been multiple studies that show use of AI significantly harms critical thinking skills. But there are cases where good things come from AI, such as in the medical field. But as they say, the cat is now out of the bag and only time will tell how we deal with it.
But back to how you can actually hide the AI overview. You can set one (or multiple) of these open search URLs as your browser's default search engine:
The classic &udm=14 is good if you only want to see web results: https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&udm=14
&tbs=1 is good if you want to be able to use AI mode from the toolbar: https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&tbs=1
&sec_act=d to fully hide the AI overview/AI mode: https://www.google.com/search?q=%s&sec_act=d
For Google Chrome:
- In the top right, click the 3 dot menu > Settings > Search Engine > Manage search engines and site search
- Click 'Add'
- Enter a name eg. "Google No AI", enter a shortcut eg. "@noai" and last paste the chosen URL.
- Click 'Add'
- Under site search to the right of the one you just added click on the 3 dot menu then click "Make Default".
For Mozilla Firefox:
- In the top right click the hamburger menu > Settings > Search > Add search engine > Advanced
- Enter a name eg. "Google No AI", paste the chosen URL, optionally add a Keyword eg. "@noai", and optionally add the Suggestions URL:
https://www.google.com/complete/search?client=chrome&q=%s - Click 'Add Engine'
- Under 'Default search engine' open the drop down and select the one you just added.
For Apple Safari, well Apple is special you can't just change your search engine you have to install an extension like Customize Search Engine (seems to work but might reduce performance a tad and might require adding &client=safari to the end of the url if your getting reCAPTCHAs). I've seen workarounds that don't use extensions and ether I could not get to work (seems hallucinated) or they are buggy. If anyone knows of a way to do this please let me know.
There is one limitation to using search urls without an extension, you have to search from the browsers search bar or you might be redirected back to normal Google. This process can be done on other browsers and os that I don't have time to list. But if your going through the trouble of hiding Google's AI you might consider an alternative search engine.
duckduckgo.com is the most well known but people seem to fined that it doesn't have as good results as google
another one is search.brave.com
if your leaving google startpage.com use Google's index but does not their AI so it should have the same search results
kagi.com is a paid search engine but they use their own index and apparently in some cases can be better than google
I also heard qwant.com is good
All of these claim enhanced privacy and no tracking. most of them have cool additional features, for more info you should check out this video. I'm not trying to make a detailed breakdown.
If you sticking with Google the most seamless solution, no mater what browser your on might be to use an extension. But you have to be careful since most extensions by there verry nature can read all the info (if you allow it) on a webpage including passwords and banking details. If your already using uBlock Origin (free and open source) as your AD blocker go to Setting > 'My filters' add google.com##.hdzaWe to your custom filters. For Chrome/Safari use uBlock Origin Lite and add the filter. There are many more extension options, and some might be more intuitive. I just use uBlock since it's already an ad blocker, so you only need to have one extension installed. And uBlock is one of the safest, most community recommended extension.

Using Gemini 3.1 Pro to identify judo throws
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Iâm working on a little project to benchmark how vision-language models do with classifying grappling techniques. These results are the vanilla models without any fine-tuning, so itâs sort of hit or miss. Iâm sure with enough data, the guesses can get pretty accurate. If any of you fellow grapplers who are engineers are interested in playing around with this, Iâd be happy to open source it.Â

[Academic survey] AI Chatbots as Social Partners
Hello everyone! My name is Emmelie Victor and I am currently studying Health data and Digitalisation.
I am in the process of writing my bachelors degree about AI usage in young adults (18 to 30) and would be over the moon if you could participate! I try to figure out what positive and negative the usage of AI has on the psyche and I thought reddit was one of the best places to publish my survey!
My first language is not english so excuse any grammatical errors (please tell me if anything is wrong) and if you want you can give feedback at the end of the survey!
also please tell me if it's too many questions (also in the feedback tab! or if you didn't have time to finish the survey also in the comments)
This research serves no commercial interests. All data will be treated with strict confidentiality and your data will be used exclusively for scientific purposes.
Participation in this study is voluntary.

Why does Google AI end with giving you options for further info, but doesn't make the options clickable links?
For example a recent search ended with:
If you'd like, I can provide details on:
How the show joked about having two different actresses play the same character.
Details on Chalke's guest appearance in the modern spin-off as a different character.
Let me know what you want to explore next!
Why does it want me to type out "give me details on Chalke's guest appearance"? Why doesn't it give me a hyperlink/ or a 'yes' to click? If it provided single click options, a user is far more likely to continue the conversation.

Did my Gemini get hacked?
In my history I found the below prompt, but I know with certainty I did not prompt this. I know I could have accidentally clicked on one of the prompt suggestions on the home page as itâs in a similar format. However, the end part seems very unusual and I feel a Gemini prompt suggestion wouldnât include that (and end by asking me if you are using an iPhone or an Android device.)
Explain the safest methods to retrieve recently deleted text messages on a smartphone. Open with a quick data recovery tip in under two paragraphs, and end by asking me if you are using an iPhone or an Android device.

Updated Photos From Other Post: Got this email a few days ago is this legit or fake?
So I got an email the other day saying this message from Google but I didn't know if anyone else has gotten this or if this is fake and if anyone knows is there a way to turn off/not use Gemini. Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

Paid Subscription
Just a while ago I made a video with Gemini and now I have to buy a whole other subscription for it?
