Bye Schup :(
So upset - Absolutely loved watching her play.

If this is about Tess Boade over Schup I don’t necessarily like it.

If this if about Tess Boade plus Meredith Speck over Schupansky I still don’t like it

Off the charts absurd front office moves this season! (Other than Sam Kerr…)

It was so special getting to see her play and grow last season. I hope that she gets to continue doing that in Boston. Wished we would have kept her, but only if we had been playing her.

I know this is the cost to re sign Lavelle but as someone who enjoys the young players we have I’m really hoping it won’t cost us any more.

I had a feeling this was coming since she’s been getting so little playing time lately, but I’m so upset. She’s a truly special player. She has a vision and playing style that we are lacking from our other midfielders as well. I can’t blame her for looking elsewhere but I can blame our staff for not working her in more frequently :(

Can’t say I am surprised, hope she can go be great and maybe find her way back to us in a couple years.

She hasn’t been playing and really deserves to be somewhere she plays but man it’s hard watching our players leave. I swear I can look at every NWSL team and there are several former Gotham players on each team 😭😔

This is a mercenary club. It’s how they manage players, it’s how they manage fans, it’s how they manage the states they play in.
Just ruthlessly turning over large parts of the roster every 6-12 months. Kinda sucks to follow.

They know they can't afford to suck after they move. People in NYC aren't going to come out to watch a bad team.

McCaskill can’t complete a pass to a teammate and they send off Shoes!? Can’t say I see a good reason for this move.

u/Krispyford 11d ago
I got downvoted for criticizing McCaskill on the NWSL sub game thread. I’m glad I’m not crazy
20
u/Critrole21 11d ago
Not crazy at all. McCaskill was such a bad pick up. Crazy to me that she is getting so much more playing time. I’d rather spend the time and effort developing a young talent.

I've been down on her since she was drafted, honestly. Was never impressed with her play.

u/BlueCoBot 11d ago
Any criticism of her gets met with “you just don’t get what she does”

u/JokinHghar 11d ago
Yes, there must be some 4D chess involved in giving the ball right to the other team

u/zombear-lich 11d ago
Don’t forget staying on the ground when the entire other team goes streaking by and wondering why the defense concedes a goal outnumbered 5 to 2.

Literally this. She cannot connect with anyone. How much longer do we have to watch her flounder out there?

I’m on vacation and this just ruined my day. Why are we always losing our young players 😭

As players like Lavelle and Kerr are getting closer to retirement age, it’s really dumb to not invest in young talent

Dang it! Why are they trading away all their young talent?! I really fear for Gotham's prospects in a year or two as so many on the pitch now age out of top form. Up and down the lineup, except for Dudley (if they trade her I may be forced to seek a different team), they all have likely already peaked (or in the case of McCaskill, just get even worse).

Awww man!!! She was getting minutes last season. What happened this year??

u/Connect-Occasion-682 10d ago
This move will get her back on track for national team consideration.

u/Greedy_Mammoth 11d ago
This is a bad move! We are getting “experienced”players and they don’t give a chance to young people

...annnnnd another talented young player exits Gotham.
Over/under on Dudley's time left?
12
u/alcatholik 11d ago
Just a note i don’t think any player wants to leave Gotham. Your team gets who they want and simply decide to whom they give minutes. So like, Dudley will stay as long as you need her, imho
11
u/Mcard1204 11d ago
Dudley’s not going anywhere. Her emergence as a key player this season is part of the reason players like Harper and Schupansky felt the need to move on.

u/Peter_Quince1031 11d ago
if she hasn’t already been selected by another club, we could really use her in Portland. I’ve been impressed with her potential. After losing Moultrie for the season, a creative mid like Sarah would really help

Hate to admit it but we’re the NWSL’s Galácticos. Kerr is Ronaldo, Rose is Zidane and Shaw is Beckham. Hala Gotham🤣

Unpopular opinion I guess, but not too upset about this. Think she’s quite slow for this league and needs to be on a team that sets her up to have way more space and less defensive responsibility. I think she’ll have a solid career, but nothing too exceptional. While I don’t think Boade is a huge upgrade, she’s also not a downgrade for two months.

u/DragonfruitNo6708 10d ago
She's exceptional at setting up strikers and can use both feet on the field and for corners. See: rookie season.

I made a FREE SCHUP FROM JAIL sign for the last match.
Well, consider her freed, just not in the way I wanted.
