[Question] Help with class selection

Hello. I Always play gw2 on and off. Last time I played I went with necromancer but it just wasnt it. Id like to play some fast close to mid range class. Do you guys have any class that could fit this playstyle? Rn Im trying scepter + dagger elementalist. So far I like the flashy abilities and dashes. But since im new i dont have any elite specs yet. I havent invested much time into that character. So i wanna ask. Is there any class or weapon types i should take for this playstyle? If the elementalist could be the one class for me, where should I look for talent build? Thank you!

you could give thief a try. they are super fast. high dps and have a lot of mobility.

if you still have your lv80 boosts you can also use it to try. the lv80 boost wont be consumed directly.

you can use it to try things out.

Once you get to elites scrapper is an absolute kick and would fit your bill. Base Engi can be a bit of a slog until you figure out your kits

Base Engineer even without kits was a lot of fun for me. Rifle + Elixirs was easy to play.

Personally I never seemed to get good with elixers. For me they felt clunky. For Halloween though my favorite, albeit poor performing, spec is up. Flamethrower turret engi with speedy kits....

Engi go :::: Brrrrrr. Brrr Brrrrrrr

You can make a character and as soon as you complete the tutorial mission you can enter the PVP lobby with the button at the top left of your screen.

The PVP lobby sets you to max level and unlocks all elite specs while your in there so you can test any class as much as you want, there are also training dummies to test on.

If you do that for every class you can get a feel for which one you really like.

Specter has with scepter and spear a lot dps on close and mid with a lot mobility, while still bringing a lot support tools. Same goes for pistol variants of the thief.

My 2nd take would be Revenant in any meta build with shortbow and shiro.

You can try the elite specs in the pvp lobby on dummies.

Be aware that elementalist, baseline, is also o e of the most complicated classes. Pretty much any class can do the mid to close fast paced because even ranged weapons work point blank. Id recommend doi g your search based on class ability, what do you want to supplement your weapon skills. Like, for necro its the shroud gauge, for elementalist its element switching, for ranger its your pet. Over your weapon skills which you can find a setup that works for what ypu want, theres a lot less tweaking you can do to class skills, this what would you want there

Shiro revenant with any elite spec. Rev probably has the flashiest kit in the game and Shiro plays like a teleports behind you anime character. You do need HoT to unlock Revenant, but it should be the first piece of additional content you purchase anyways, and the cheapest too I believe.

You can try your ele with dagger in main hand as well you will get more mobility from dagger 3 in earth and fire with still some range though not as much. The build really depends on how you prefer to play. As you level you can’t really mess up traits or abilities you will have them all by the time your level 80. I would start with fire as it’s going to be the best damage trait then maybe earth for more damage and bit of defense or air for even more damage. Last one would be arcane for self boons.

Now if you want to invest in the game this sounds like condi willbender to me dual pistols and hyper mobility lots of buttons to press is rapidly mid range. To play it you would have to get EoD and Soto. EoD would also give you access to harbinger which despite not liking necro this elite is very different, very mobile, fast paced with steady damage.

If you want minimum investment and best bang for buck get HoT/Pof try out Holosmith, condi berserker, or condi chrono. Fast paste builds with some movement, and range.

Well I mainly play warrior which I really enjoy but I been messing around on a troubadour power build and it’s pretty fun mix of melee/range

Core necromancer has nothing in common with endgame necromancer. Elite specs turn it from a super annoying class to play to a god of war.

This applies to most specs to be honest.

Have you tried any of the necro elites like Reaper and Harbinger?

Play all of them until it clicks.

When I started GW2 on release I expected that my main would be elementalist as a powerful mage fantasy and engineer with kits and turrets sounded cool too. And then mesmer with teleports and invisible thief. Eventually Warrior clicked and I've been maining it for more than a decade.

If you like scepter/dagger ele now, it only gets much better when you unlock elite specs

Your ele has 1 dagger yes, but have you considered, a 2nd dagger?
