Specifically from Hellboy 1 & 2, Guillermo del Toro absolutely nailed the aesthetic. But they also had the best casting role for him with the legend Ron Perlman. In general though the practical effects in these movies were awesome.

Big red demon guy with leather pants & brown trench coat, 1 oversized almost rock textured arm, the broken off horns, his black hair with mutten chops and goatee plus the yellow eyes.

It just has that feel of iconic 80's-90's unique designs with the gritty atmosphere of the early 2000s.

Hello, I’m a museum curator currently developing a film exhibition, and I’m hoping to source a specific object: the full-body conceptual clay maquette for Amphibian Man, sold by Heritage Auctions in 2025.

In my experience, auction houses are typically willing to act as intermediaries and forward inquiries to a winning bidder on a museum’s behalf. This particular house, however, will only do so if the inquiry is a purchase offer — which isn’t necessarily my intent at this stage. I haven’t encountered this policy with Christie’s, Sotheby’s, or other major houses I’ve worked with previously.

If anyone has information on the buyer’s identity, or a lead on how to reach them, I’d greatly appreciate it. I am interested in borrowing the maquette. Thank you in advance.

I have been hand etching mirrors for many years, the funkier the concept- the better. I don’t use lasers & directly transcribe designs from old Victorian, religious, and occult texts- or make them myself.

My spouse and I are diehard fans of Del Toro’s Frankenstein: Probably the most beautiful and heart wrenching version in existence, in our opinion.

This is a quote from Elizabeth, and this design took me many hours and over a week to properly execute.

The design is so intricate, it’s difficult to catch on camera- so here are a few different exposures and contrast edits.

Thankfully, it’s easy to see and admire in person!

Since Mountains of Madness won't happen - how about something entirely different for Mr. del Toro how about a new telling of "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward"?

I've done something some purists will hate, but that I hope many HPL fans like myself will love - I've penned (not published yet) a new novel, a new telling of The Case of Charles Dexter Ward. In a more expansive way, it tells the exact same story, but in my own way and in my own language.

It goes deeper into history, characters and relationships and, as you might imagine, it's quite a bit longer than the original CDW - in fact, it's three times longer - oh, the horror! It weaves a tapestry that brings in more of HPL's worlds and stories, and even those of some of his friends (like Bloch and Howard).

Does Guillermo del Toro like CDW? I have no idea - it's certainly far more down to earth than the epically cosmic Mountains of Madness - and even HPL himself didn't like CDW. Well, I do and always have - and I've always had questions about all manner of things HPL chose not to answer:

What must be red for three months? Who was 118? What did Curwen do abroad for those formative nine years? What did CDW learn in London, in Paris, Prague and Transylvania? And what about the friendship of Dr. Willett and Randolph Carter, mentioned in a single sentence? Well, just a few of the questions I wanted to explore.

The novel will be called "The Simulacrum" - an odd title, perhaps, but it's HPL pure and comes straight out of CDW: That simulacrum which brushed boldly in without having been seen to go - was that an alien shadow and a horror forcing itself upon a trembling figure which had never gone out at all?

What do you think of the idea of CDW as a series told by the one and only Guillermo del Toro?

Okay i have to talk about this movie
Cuz like wow but eghhhh at the same time

First of all loved the characters
I loved the horror
I loved the romance
And especially tom hiddleton cuz wow he’s majestic

I understand this was a dysfunctional family sorta situation but i still dont get it
Some people say that thomas and lucille’s relationship is upto interpretation
Personally i DONT understand how anyone could romanticise incest

My interpretation was that lucille groomed thomas
Raped him and manipulated him to think it was love or some sort of codependency thing
Thats why he never made love to his previous wives and only with edith cuz he genuinely saw potential for moving forward from the ghost (the past)
In the end he even tried giving his sister a second chance so he could live with edith and have a good sisterly relationship with lucille(or thats what i think)

I saw some people who explained how they felt sorry for lucille and thomas’s relationship or that in some dark twisted way they both were right

I heavily doubt that but i am open for discussion

What do you think
Would you really allow incest to be romanticised in the name of dark twisted tales?

I still appreciate the movie but am concerned abt the interpretations and what not

I’d like to see “Pinocchio”, “Crimson Peak”, and “The Shape of Water” get a 3D conversion and Blu-Ray.

Not all 3D movies need to have action. One of the best examples of this is “Dial M For Murder” from Alfred Hitchcock.
