I forget what the overarching plot is but iirc the girls were dying, turned into cyborgs and brainwashed into being in love with their handlers then sent out on jobs to deal with people who're objectively monsters. I think the girls also don't have long to live, like 10 years? But they're basically unstoppable so long as they don't get shot in the eyes.

Only watch the first season. It has a sad but complete ending. It's one of those series where it's better to pretend the 2nd season never happens. The second season retcons the emotional series finale, is done by a different studio, has a massive change of tone, and the quality of the production in season 2 was really really bad.

There isn't much of a plot, most episodes are kinda standalone. The premise is that there's a secret italian security agency that collects orphaned girls and turns them into cyborg warriors. It's not really an action show, most of it is people worrying about the philosophical implications of what they're doing.

A secret Italian security agency (Social Welfare Agency) took orphaned girls, mind-wiped them and turn them into cyborgs for use as assassination of political and national threat. On the outside, they look like humanitarian agency that helps orphaned kids, but on the inside, they're the secret assassins for the government. The girls are conditioned with chemical and psychological treatment to ensure utter obedience and compliance to their "handler", which basically acts as their leash. These grant them immense physical capabilities well beyond girls of their age, but drastically shortened their lifespan, and at times, stripping away their memories
In this particular scene, Henrietta, the girl, has personal feelings towards her handler, Jose. During the infiltration mission, she has been explicitly given a directive to remain inconspicuous, but seeing a thug grabbed him like that makes her lose her nerve and she basically goes gung-ho. What's supposed to be a disguised infiltration turned into a killing spree
The series mainly explore the concept of loss of humanity and self destructive nature of revenge and manipulation. There are no traditional "good guys" here, as the series deliberately operates in a heavy moral gray area:
-The Social Welfare Agency: They save dying, abused young girls, but they also brainwash them, erase their memories, and turn them into lethal government assassins.
-The Handlers: Handlers genuinely care for the girls like family, yet they still send them into deadly combat zones and use them as disposable tools. Some even use them to further their own personal vendetta
-The Terrorists: They fight for genuine political ideals and regional independence, but they use brutal terrorism and terror bombings to achieve their goals.1

Secret Italian Government Agency takes girls who are crippled or on the verge of death, wipes their memories and saves them by turning them into cyborgs using experimental technology. They are then paired with a "Handler" to assist in regulating their emotional states and monitor their activity. Their primary function is to take down major threats within Europe such as arms dealers, terrorists, mafia, etc.

Tbh P90 ammo would easily pen that thin wouldntable but the rule of cool applies to most cover unless the plot demands it.

The P90 got very popular in modern culture due to its prolific use in Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and I believe Stargate Universe used them as well. 50 round horizontal feed magazine of very high velocity bullets.

It has shown up in a LOT of movies and tv shows. Lots of video games as well. I've got the civilian Semi-auto version and it is fun as hell to shoot.

The "girls" in this are basically hospitalized orphans who were given a full cybernetic rebuild to be bodyguards/assassins. Nobody expects a little girl to whip a submachine gun out of her violin case or shrug off shrapnel.
Good news: The upgrades saved them from the otherwise lethal accident they got picked up from and make them terrifyingly fast and strong.
Bad news: They're going to be used as brainwashed spec-ops until their bodies give out.
