Broken arm hurt like hell

Post image

This was when I was in like fourth grade I was playing tag with some friends and when I was going down the slide I stupidly jumped off midway and rolled on my arm snapping both bones

u/Seethesvt 2d ago

My arm broke like that once. In 1996. We were walking through a huge crowd after attending a basketball game at the Olympics in Atlanta. I was 12. It was awful.

3

u/missinglinksman 1d ago

How did they fix it? Did it involve them snapping it back into place? That's my one of my biggest medical fears

5

u/Seethesvt 1d ago

Yup. They did it in surgery, but not before trying whole I was awake.

i don't think supposed to bend like that

2

u/jkeegan123 2d ago

I had that... It was a broken and dislocated wrist, snapped back in and healed without surgery. Hurt like all get out.

2

u/misterjustice90 2d ago

Nate would like you to know, “oh”

2

u/brandonwlmjones 2d ago

I did that about 20ish years ago and I could barely tell which one should be the weaker one with the metal in it..technology is even better now so you should be good, just take care of it and get pins that they leave in and pull out lol..it feels so weird having them pull pins out of your bones and it’s not pain you feel.

u/TheMostBacon 2d ago

2

u/chezzer33 2d ago

1

u/etorson93 2d ago

Bro no way, my arm looked exactly like this and I also fell off a slide

1

u/Craig653 2d ago

Hey I had that same break in 2nd grade. But on my right arm.

1

u/before_the_accident 2d ago

I'm sorry but what in the looney toons did you do in a past life to deserve this

1

u/Aloha-Eh 2d ago

It's not supposed to look like that?

1

u/CemeterySarah 2d ago

My son had an identical break jumping from monkey bars. His school said they didn't think it was too bad cuz he wasn't crying. He only cried when coming down from the ketamine administered to reset his arm. He had doctors coming around to see him out of sheer curiosity.

1

u/ADDSquirell69 2d ago

Do you remember them resetting it?

1

u/GreatScottThisHeavy 2d ago

He went THAT WAY —>

1

u/Gorman_Dylan412000 2d ago

Looks like it would.

1

u/BravestBlossom 2d ago

This is EXACTLY what my oldest son's arm looked like, when he jumped off the swings at the playground when he was 8. No doubt what had happened! Ugh.

1

u/Airframe98 2d ago

Like more than a yellow jacket?

1

u/cierbhal 2d ago

No shit!! I broke mine the same way falling off a slide in kindergarten.

1

u/Icy-Variation6614 2d ago

Did you get the nickname "Noodle"? I would have insisted

1

u/Daisy-Fields 2d ago

Good lord 😭 What was the recovery like?

1

u/darsparx 2d ago

Um yea...don't think your arm is supposed to zig or zag like that 🤣 😅

1

u/wackyvorlon 2d ago

That’s impressive!

1

u/jerdle_reddit 2d ago

Jesus H Fuck that's bad!

1

u/russo3js 2d ago

Well it certainly didn’t hurt good

1

u/fmcsm 2d ago

Damn had the same thing happen to me a few months ago, under different circumstances

1

u/rrhunt28 2d ago

Been there done that, and yes it hurts. The part that hurt the most was the numbing shots and the setting of the bone.

1

u/Moonshatter89 2d ago

Heeeyyy it's the same break I had! Mine got all the way up to my wrist, though.

I needed plates, screws, and had a large rod hanging out of my arm for months. Gnarly!

1

u/Unpopular_Perspectiv 2d ago

Bro out here explaining roads with curves 😅

1

u/unicorn_barf666 2d ago

Sorry homie, that looks shitastical. 😵 Hope you've recovered adequately

1

u/Equivalent-Ad-6182 1d ago

Not just broken but bent and broken. No doubt that hurt.

1

u/devils-advocacy 1d ago

Also had this EXACT same break in 3rd grade while ALSO playing tag. Was running backwards and tripped over some girl reading a book laying down in the middle of the field.

1

u/the12ftdwarf 1d ago

Just did this exact thing to myself a month ago. Not super fun

1

u/Mick0351 1d ago

Ouch!

1

u/joeja99 1d ago

He's gonna be writing in cursive for a while

1

u/JustSomeGuy8400 1d ago

Not as bad as yours but I feel your pain.

1

u/Hot_Potato_Salad 1d ago

The same thing happened to me too!

1

u/WeaselWazzule 1d ago

That must have been a fun time resetting it into place before the cast.

1

u/LewisWozEere 1d ago

they put a chicane now

1

u/Inveramsay 1d ago

The freakiest thing is that you can just leave this and the arm will straighten out. It needs a cast for a few weeks and it'll be a year or more of wonky arm syndrome

1

u/Mr-Orange-Pants 1d ago

The gym is that way

1

u/tutetuteis 1d ago

Me pasó exactamente lo mismo pero cayéndome de la bicicleta. Todo el verano enyesado.

1

u/Hoodrat31399 1d ago

Same haha

1

u/shazoo44 1d ago

Luffy?

1

u/jordtand 1d ago

Bro got that Harry Potter arm

1

u/Brewchowskies 1d ago

I broke mine the same way. It was gnarly, and over the years I’ve tried to describe what it looked like, 30 years later and there’s finally a picture.

1

u/SuperCrappyFuntime 1d ago

Arm like a tilde

1

u/meme_lord_the_dankst 1d ago

It aint supposed to bend like that

1

u/MoreRamenPls 1d ago

🎵 Walk like an Egyptian 🎵

1

u/ChaosMartinez 1d ago

this happened to me when I was 9 with a skateboard and a speedbump. 3 breaks one arm one fall. no photo though this was in 1986

1

u/Corpulent_Lychee 1d ago

I did that twice. Almost exactly a year apart between breaks. My arm is now almost completely useless now years later. Make sure to keep up with your physio.

1

u/LennyJay86 1d ago

Looks familiar…like a bad dream

1

u/IAmASimulation 1d ago

I broke my arm in this exact same way.

Walk it off. On your hands.

1

u/TheOx111 1d ago

Sorry buddy. Done it 5 times 3 times right side 2 times left side. It’s hell everytime. When the cast starts itching use large zip ties. You can get them in there without fucking anything up haha

1

u/underwhere666 1d ago

My friend did this in cheerleading during practice. Hers was closer to her elbow so it looked like she had two elbows. Doctors told her the only thing that prevented a compound fracture was her bones hit each other. Effectively preventing each other from puncturing skin.

She was doing round off back handsprings. And kept throwing her weight off to the one side. My coach kept telling her she needed to stop doing that. All damn day. Then it sounded like a tree branch snapped and all of the sudden she had two elbows.

1

u/baboongauntlet 15h ago

1

u/preyforkevin 2d ago

My last break was similar. My left radius is still bowed a bit. I didn’t want more surgery.

1

u/BallisticHabit 2d ago

My arm looked just like that once!

I was damn lucky to not require surgery and metal hardware.

After 9 some weeks my arm looked alien, and smelled something terrible.

1

u/Howard690 2d ago

Your doctor is Gilderoy Lockhart?

0

u/NYR_LFC 2d ago

Wait a minute, something doesn't look right here

0

u/Inkerfox 2d ago

I always wondered how it feels to try and move your arm when it's like that. Like I imagine it hurts like a motherfucker of course, but I wonder if you could feel different tensions in different areas when using the muscle.

0

u/leighaorie 2d ago

Classic swan neck break. Hope you feel better!
