This was most definitely a spring movie. I get it. I noticed it was the first Hallmark movie from this writer. I had more complaints about the directing and he's directed a ton of movies A on Hallmark. Anyway, it was a good enough story for Hallmark. Some of the same old tropes as before. The two leads were charming. Emily is building up a solid group of films for the channel. I don't think I disliked her in any of the films she has starred in. A nice variety as well. Carlo was good. I have seen him as a lead a few times now. I remember him most from the Wedding Veil. The Blessing Bracelet was a good film too. Anyway, they worked well together but the height difference was awkward at times. Mind you, I would love to see it the other way but that's just my personal bias or wish fulfillment,,,

The plot was good enough. Small beans once again but that's okay. I was thinking that maybe this Tessa Marks was going to swoop in and the whole county was going to come to the book signing and save the store with the money from the book sales or something. I don't' get why she had to sell. I mean maybe the lease was up? I mean I guess the owners of the property just put up for sale. That Molly was running things as best as she could. But anyway, she wanted to sell the place and get the money and find someplace to start all over again. Chicago was going to be it. Settle down in Chicago in her new permanent job. I suppose she could have used the money from the sale since she was merely drifting from one job to another and her dream of writing a novel was put on hold but there was no rush besides the deadline to sell. Of course, in the end she decided to stay.

Some Hallmark movies have too much backstory or characters with more baggage than a carousel at O'Hare. This was almost the opposite which was nice for a change but we did get some details. Of course, he liked her in high school. but didn't tell her and she at least thought about it. But that was it. No messy breakups and so on. One sour point in the relationship at the present time was when she was expecting a kiss from him and he just hugged her. That really annoyed her. It wasn't the classic "Hallmark interruptus" moment though. Still she wanted him to kiss her but he blew the moment. Not just that but they had a little argument then too. Here I was thinking "This guy is like the best boyfriend ever when it comes to supporting his lady with words of encouragement and supporting her" and then he screws it up. He screwed up twice in like two minutes. Also like many a Hallmark heroine or hero, Max was in a rut and trying to move forward with his life as well. He was somewhat girded by his traditional father who is also set in his ways. He also embraced a change as well in the story and his son was happy for him on that endeavor as well.

Overall, a fine movie with lots of obvious things for spring. I did have some issues. I can do without having to read texts on the screen. I record in sd and sometimes the screen isn't good enough. Now the writing on the screen was okay. I always have caption on anyway even I can perfectly understand them. A habit from watching too many foreign films. So that was a little tricky for me. But overall that didn't distract me from the film but just some pet peeves for me. I would give this film a six or seven. It was a little different and it wasn't outstanding ore really bad. It was better than average with two fine leads.

FYI! There is a new Garage Sales Mystery premiering Sept 19th @ 8pm on the W channel here in Canada. There is only supposed to be one but if the ratings are good there could be more.

In this movie Tyler Hines plays a restaurant consultant. Is the way he holds his fork and taste the food normal? It drives me crazy.

It was going great until the leads projected their history onto the other couple and meddled in their lives.

I liked Hannah in the beginning. But, one conversation with her director, and she starts pushing her boyfriend away? Yet she's still in the mood to scheme with him and the others to trick Bea and Ben? Later on, this TV actress decides to just abandon her commitments, go radio silent, and run off to do a show in Italy. Even though she came back, if I was Clay, I'd be done with her.

Similar thing with Ashley Williams' character. After she and Ben have this intense connection in the restaurant, they realize their friends tricked them. Bea immediately has the gall to say that their romance was nothing. The next day, she reinforces this. If I was Ben, I'd say, "That's the second time, now, you've left me." And I wouldn't give her the chance to do it to me the third time.

Much About Love premieres tonight.

Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Prelude to a Wedding starring Tamera Mowry-Housley, Risteard Cooper and Marco Grazzini (will most likely air on a CTV channel).

Hopefully, A Knight to Remember will air in Canada sometime because I am really excited to watch that movie since I am reading the book currently!!

Personally, I have been a fan of the so very rare movies featuring main characters who are a married couple. I grant there may not be much interest broadly because it seems that finding The One is the big draw for the network. I like those too but it's just not the only type of couple story I like watching.

But for me, there's still so much story left to tell once a couple is together. There was one with Candace Cameron Bure and Ty Olssen years ago that my husband and I really enjoyed. Haven't seen it since & can't recall the name of it, but they were a couple that had been married like more than a decade and had just fallen into the routine of life but kind of lost track of their romantic connection & had to rediscover it. It was so good. The recent mystery duo, The Cases of Mystery Lane were a favourite in my home also, but alas, cancelled before it even got to a well teased third movie. I did see one last winter with Krisopher Polaha where he was one half of an almost completely estranged couple in a Christmas movie, and it was great.

When Hallmark makes them, they seem to do a great job (at least from what I've seen). Any suggestions of any others I've missed?

They’re not using stock footage because the angles and cars vary, and they try to change up the street names or business names, except when they forget and leave the street sign blank! LOL!

Hallmark customer service is a bit dismissive regarding their offer programs. I love discovering new Hallmark series and whenever this offer (see photo) comes around, it incentivizes me to try a few more shows out. At the end of 10+ episodes watches, the perk is that you gain 1500 points (max) and that gets us a $5 coupon (after point conversion). For us, it's a win-win. However, sometimes it just doesn't work. The points don't credit. And Hallmark customer service dismisses it and closes the inquiry... just telling us to "wait longer" essentially. I wonder how many other people do not earn their points and don't notice? I contacted them today to ask, and they are saying all my points will credit by September 9th. Sure, except that we had a binge-watching session over 2 days in the first week of August... watching over a dozen qualifying episodes... and only 7 total credited. I waited the full 2 weeks before contacting and am told it will take an additional 2 more weeks? The offer terms state that is takes 1-2 weeks after viewing. Hmm. I realize they owe us nothing, but why promise this and then dismiss it? Mind you, we watch and/or listen to Hallmark+ a lot... so in total for the first 2 weeks of this offer.... we watched nearly 36 episodes. Still only 7 credited as "watched" as I only received 150 points x 7 in my point history. It is discouraging.

This comes from the stories my daughters have told my wife and me.

Two independent stories. One is a woman going through the dating scene using dating apps, friend recommendations, social events, etc. And they're all are problematic. Bounce between funny to painful to just doesn't click.

Second story - a guy going through the same thing. One and done after one and done.

But through it all we learn about them and what they want. And they're perfect for each other. And the final scene is in a coffee shop where it's crowded and they have to share a table. And it ends on the first minute of their talking.

I'm writing a Hallmark inspired screenplay, and I'm challenging myself to stick within the bounds of what's acceptable of a Hallmark film. Basically, an exercise in creative constraint. But, I'm not a Hallmark diehard.

"Worst" I've seen so far is the leads making out in the front of a car to evade security. But beyond that, how far have some films pushed innuendo, adult jokes, physical affection, and even any violence?

I know the bar is going to be low, but I'm just wondering what has been published in Hallmark.
