Question (?) Kid-friendly?
I saw an ad for a Tekko device and thought my kids would love it. The reviews I found on Reddit said the better choice would be the r36s. I also found that there were other choices that might be better and I'm a bit lost on what I should get.
I'm not entirely sure I understand all the language here on this sub either. Sorry, I'm completely new to this. Do the games come on the device or do I need to somehow upload them to it? I see a lot of people talking about what they are "running" and honestly I feel like a bit of an idiot.
Any recommendations for children? I don't mind spending a bit more money (up to $200-$300) but I just don't know what to look for.
I do have a Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita myself, but those obviously have the game slot and you buy the games separately. I was hoping for one of the devices that just have games on it without switching game cards.

Hello.
"Tekko" is a dropshipper/reseller of Chinese R36S devices. If you want to save a penny head over to r/r36s to get the same console for 1/3rd the price.
My recommendation for children? Something running minimal interface, so they aren't confused. Probably Miyoo Mini, Anbernic RG*XX with MinUI or similar.

How old are the kids and how "gentle" are they with electronic handhelds?
Both the Vita and 3DS are easy to mod and you can then install games right to the SD card. The 3DS will have access to GBA and DS then (and if it's a new 3ds then other emulators) while the ps vita has access to PS1 and PSP (plus gb/GBA and lots of ports)
Edit: the cheaper handhelds like the R36, Ambernic, and Miyoo models do usually come with an SD card with games already on it. Best practice, however, is to sources your own games and new SD card as the prepackaged ones are of unknown quality and the curation of roms isn't always great.
