Welcome back to Hogwarts!
September 1 is almost here, and this year feels a little more magical than usual. As we celebrate 25 Years of Magic on the big screen, we’re also getting closer and closer to the arrival of HBO’s new Harry Potter series. There’s a lot to look forward to, so we thought it would be nice to have one place where we can all experience the excitement together.
Before we get started, a huge shoutout to [u/competitive_notice55](u/competitive_notice55) for designing and editing the beautiful Back to Hogwarts posters you see above! They also designed our subreddit banner, so you may already be familiar with their work!
The official Back to Hogwarts Showcase promises “special surprises and unmissable announcements.”
We could expect a new trailer (almost confirmed by HBO), more casting announcements for Season 1, or potentially Season 2 casting, Hogwarts Legacy 2 reveal. Also keep an eye out for new books, special editions, merchandise, theme park experiences, and other Wizarding World announcements.

So we all saw the announcement for the Harry Potter series trailer for tomorrow.
I just notice that this small few second announcement is very Quidditch minded.
We only see glimpses from before the game and supporters and Harry entering the pitch.
Is the series going to do an entire Quidditch subplot, with all the games? If so, I'm even more excited!
I also noted in the Great Hall clip we can see the Slytherin (Quidditch team) table and the Gryffindor table.
What do we expect from the trailer? Will it also be Quidditch oriented or will it expand more on other sides of the story?
(All the characters i picked out are those I'm certain of)
Can't wait for tomorrow!!! ❤️💛💚💙

Nothing much, I thought she would always sport one, or at least, cover her forehead for the entire season like a cartoon character.

To be fair, they never actually said the trailer would be showed on the livestream but I’m still quite disappointed. Only 1 day to wait so could be worse.

1.This has to be the morning before the Gryffindor vs Slytherin Quidditch match. Students are getting hyped which I like. We can see Marcus Flint, Adrien Pucey, Graham Montague at the Slytherin table in their Quidditch uniform.
Over on the left is the Gryffindor table where you can see Harry sitting next to Parvati and Seamus. Ron is opposite and I think that’s Hermione behind him and Dean is next to Ron.
At the top you can see some teachers (very blurry though) but I think one of them is Professor Sprout. Oh and I think that’s McGonagall just at the top end of the Slytherin table.
Better look at the Slytherin table. I think that’s Malfoy on the left and Crabbe is opposite.
Harry about to enter the Quidditch pitch for his first ever match it seems. He looks nervous and the crowd is getting hyped. We also get a better look at the Nimbus 2000.
Ron and Hermione cheering Harry on. This is obviously the first match as well as Hermione has different clothes and different hairstyle to the teaser Quidditch scenes which was the second match vs Hufflepuff.
Shortly after Wood gives his inspirational speech in the Gryffindor changing room. We may have got a glimpse of this already in the teaser from another angle or it’s a different match. Anyway we’ve got a better look of Angelina Johnson, Oliver Wood, Alicia Spinnet.
Doing this has helped heal my disappointment somewhat but I’m still buzzing that we’re getting the full trailer tomorrow!!!

I’ve seen some people complaining about the Harry Potter HBO show having different designs for the Hogwarts Houses compared to the movies, but honestly, I think it’s a good thing. I actually like the idea of the movies having their own designs and the show having its own designs. It makes it easier to tell which version you’re looking at, and I think it gives the show its own identity instead of trying to copy everything from the movies. And honestly, I like both. I really don’t see a huge difference between the designs anyway. They still feel like Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. It’s not like they completely changed what the Houses look like. The movies have their visual identity, and the HBO series can have its own. I actually think that’s a smart approach. The show doesn’t have to recreate every single design from the movies for it to feel like Harry Potter. I’d rather see the show establish its own look while still respecting what came before.

This looks beautiful to me. I love the idea that the logos/crests changed overtime and we see different versions in this iteration of the story.
Also *very conveniently* directly correlates to more opportunities for product sales in the Muggle world...

I grew up on the books and movies and I have been pretty excited about the new show. However, during the livestream today it struck me that I might no longer have a connection to this new phase of Harry Potter.
The stream showed ads for terrible mobile games, weird things like the baking show and the ice experience with a Harry Potter theme slapped on it and other stuff that feels so far removed from the core of the books and movies. I guess it just felt cheap with no sense of magic or mystery at all.
I hope this is just a weird corporate thing and the series still rocks, but the stream did more to temper my enthusiasm than add to it.
How do you guys feel about this?
