Discussion Seeking recipe is now allowed in this community - new Rule #2 - please read it and post your inquiries

2 Upvotes

Mod news:

whenever you want to post a request for recipe recommendations from the community members - which is logical to inquire here! - such a posts MUST include a base recipe used as a REFERENCE and as the material for improvement or suggesting alternatives by community members.

For example:

I want a recipe of healthier lasagna. Classical recipe is: _____ _____ _____ _____, but I want a healthier lasagna. Options that can be requested:

  • vegan lasagna
  • low calorie lasagna
  • no allergens (e.g. no gluten, no milk) lasagna
  • cooking tips for lasagna,
  • etc.

What's the difference vs rule #1?

Rule #1 refers to your own recipe which you are sharing with the community. While Rule #2 opens the gate to making posts requesting recipes from the community members and visitors without having your own recipe. It only requires a starting point with a base recipe that you can find on the internet as a reference (like the lasagna example).

Go ahead and shoot your questions! There are 180K members in r/Health_Recipes who are your possible advisors on healthier nutrition and better food!

Take advantage of this community power and get healthier and healthier every day!

Clean eating Simple mediterranean chickpea salad

2 Upvotes

recently i am trying to improve my diet and include more med style dishes in my meals each week. i am not an experienced cook so i am mainly looking for simple recipes with ingredients that are easy to find.

one meal i have been making is a simple chickpea salad:

  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 chopped cucumber
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • red onion
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • lemon juice
  • salt and pepper

i usually just mix everything together and have it for lunch.

i would luv to try some other easy mediterranean recipes that work well for lunch or dinner and dont take too long to prepare. what are some recipes you make regularly?

Discussion Ground beef/turkey bowls ideas

I recently tried the viral hot honey ground beef bowl, which is basically just protein, sweet potato, avocado and hot honey and am absolutely obsessed! Anyone else have any similar protein bowls that you’re loving? I’m dairy free so usually modify recipes to take out dairy

Calorie control heavenly high protein chicken salad

4 Upvotes

ingredients:

160g cooked chicken breast

150g(or more) mixed salad

15ml Burger sauce

40g 0% fat greek yogurt

About 25 cherry tomatoes

5g olive oil

One corn cake (I didn't have any left)

I cooked the chicken in the air fryer for 13 minutes and flipped it halfway. I put smoked paprika powder, salt, black pepper and chili pepper before cooking and then covered it in the spices.

I washed the salad and put a little dash of olive oil and salt;

I diced the cherry tomatoes and tossed them in;

Then I mixed the Greek yogurt with the burger sauce, and mixed the salad.

I finally sliced the chicken and put it in the bowl, sprinkled some more spices, crumbled the corn cake on it and tossed it again, and voilà!!!

hope you enjoy!

PS: since it's a bit low on fiber, I recommend to swap a bit of the tomatoes and salad for some chickpeas or any other high fiber food!

Calorie control Healthy chocolate dessert recipes?

2 Upvotes

So I’ve been eating way healthier along with working out and I am starting to lose weight. I’ve lost 6 lbs so only 9 more to go. But I still catch myself having a high calorie snack once in awhile. Which is fine because it doesn’t put me out of my calorie deficit.

But I’d love to have a low calorie dessert I can make on my own. Those 360 calorie tasty cake juniors are just too high in calories but they’re my favorite lol

Low carb Ground chicken kebab with grilled sweet banana peppers

An absolute pleasure to work with this recipe from scratch.
All you need to ground chicken or any meat of your choice. You can either get ground meat from the store or use a food processor or make minced meat if you have time.

Recipe:
Ground meat, 1 yellow onion (finely chopped), 1 green bell pepper (finely chopped), 1 tomato (deseeded and finely chopped), a tsp of ginger garlic paste, salt 1 teaspoon (maybe extra 1/2 tsp), but don’t add more than that. Keep in mind that you can always add and adjust salt in the dip. Along with these, you will need a generous bunch of finely chopped cilantro, and curry leaves.
For seasoning, I added little bit of paprika, chicken 65 masala (you can get this from any Indian grocery store), ground pepper, and a pinch of turmeric powder.

After chopping the vegetables, add 1 teaspoon of salt and keep it aside for 3 minutes. Squeeze out all of the water and add it in a mixing bowl with ground chicken. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt and the seasoning along with cilantro and curry leaves. Mix well. Apply some oil ( neutral cooking oil ) on hand to prevent sticking. Make any desired shape and bake it (470 Fahrenheit) until cooked (approximately 10 to 15 minutes), or grill it outdoors.

Have it with grilled sweet banana peppers or a refreshing cucumber feta cheese salad. You can also have it with buttermilk (mint flavored). Happy cooking!

Calorie control My Go To High Protein, Low Calorie Tuna Salad for Cutting

Post image
3 Upvotes

As someone currently on a cutting diet, this has become one of my favorite meals. It’s easy to make, high in protein, and relatively low in calories.

Ingredients:

* 1 can tuna

* ½ green onion

* 2 mini cucumbers

* ½ large red onion or 1 small red onion

* 2 tbsp dill (optional)

( you can add other things such Chickpeas or pickles , etc it up to you )

Dressing:

* 100g 0% Greek yogurt

* 40g (about 3 tbsp) light mayo

* 1 tbsp mustard

* 1 small tbsp lime juice

* Black pepper, to taste

* Paprika, to taste

* Chili flakes, to taste

* Salt, to taste

The recipe contains of ~350 kcal | ~63g protein

What I really like about this recipe is that I can eat it straight from the bowl as a salad. The tuna doesn't overpower the taste because the cucumber, onion, dill, and dressing balance everything out really well.

It’s also pretty filling for the calories, which makes it great for cutting.

If you're trying to increase your protein for building muscle without adding a lot of calories, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. 😋

Huge shout out to @TONEBULLY (on Tiktok and Instagram) he created both Early in the Morning(intro) and Bobby(black and white segment). His music is absolutely 🔥. If you don't give him love, you're failing cabron.

Recipe below...

🇲🇽 🐔 🥗

Ingredients

Chicken breasts

Potatoes

Limes

Corn

Peas & carrots

Paprika

Onion powder

Garlic powder

Black pepper

Salt

Mayonnaise

Greek yogurt or sour cream

Butter, for cooking the chicken

Instructions

  1. Prepare the potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into small cubes. Add them to a pot of salted water and bring to a boil.

Keep an eye on them—you want the potatoes cooked but not mushy. Once they’re tender, strain them and set them aside. If they’re getting too soft, you can place them in cold water to stop them from cooking further.

  1. Season the chicken

In a bowl, mix together your paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, and chicken seasoning.

Play around with the seasoning until you get the flavor you like. Go easy on the chicken seasoning and salt at first—you can always add more later after tasting everything together. We then add our chicken and mix it all very well.

  1. Cook the chicken

Heat a pan with some butter and cook the chicken until fully cooked.

Once the chicken is done, shred it. (Reference the video for optimal shredding instructions 😂.)

  1. Mix everything together

Grab a large bowl and add:

Shredded chicken

Cooked potatoes

Peas & carrots

Corn

Plenty of mayonnaise

Fresh lime juice

Greek yogurt or sour cream

Black pepper

Salt

Mix everything together until well combined.

  1. Taste & adjust

Give it a taste and add more salt, pepper, lime juice, or mayonnaise as needed.

And that's it!

¡Provecho! 🌮🔥

General health Easy but healthy meals for an 88-year old

8 Upvotes

I’m sorry. I’m not sure if this sub is the right place for this question.
My next door neighbour is 88 years old; has difficulty walking. She can move but needs a walker; and can’t stand for too long.
I offered to cook her daily dinner but she’s too nice to accept my help.

Do you have any easy but healthy recipe idea for her to make either in a microwave or quickly on the stove?

Thank you so much.

Gluten free frozen yogurt mango coconut clusters for when you want a sweet treat!!

Post image
29 Upvotes

takes only a few minutes and is the perfect high protein sweet treat (bonus points for being a cold dessert for when i come in from the heat) ✨

frozen mango
greek yogurt (or whatever you prefer, can sub vegan)
maple syrup to sweeten
vanilla bean paste (if using a plain yogurt)
white chocolate chips
a little coconut oil
shredded coconut to top

just chop your frozen mango into smaller chunks, then add greek yogurt (just enough for it to hold its shape). spoon onto a sheet of parchment paper and freeze for maybe an hour or so, then melt down your white chocolate chips in the microwave with a touch of coconut oil. dip your clusters, sprinkle a little shredded coconut, and enjoy 🥭🤍
