I hope you guys enjoy these pics of my packing!

The first photo is the dry items cosmetics bag I’m packing in my wheeled carry-on for my 1 week trip to Croatia with my mom and dad and cousins :). I always bring my liquids in a separate bag that I have easily accessible in my personal item, so this first, black one is just for non liquids.

The top half of my two sided makeup bag is where I keep miscellaneous getting ready for bed or the day items that aren’t makeup. I’m not that old but I am obsessed with the pill organizer haha. I’ve finally figured out how to take vitamins!

I really love those flossers and the baby little case that came with the Costco packs. It’s the little things ☺️.

Also scoured the internet for the cutest Q-tip container I could find, haha I still don’t think it’s perfect but I do like it. I’m sorry, but I Q-tip my ears after every single shower and I’m never gonna stop.

I tuck my blister bandages and pimple patches underneath that pink case, always bring those on trips.

Always take my face razor and I have my capped one in a different bag that I’ll end up bringing. The moustache legit cannot be left alone for 8 days so I really do need this 🥲.

Liquid limits are my nemesis, so anything that used to be in that bag that can go here makes me happy! I looove that dry shampoo brush. You fill the base with powder that you can buy in little sachets. The top has a soft brush so you can brush it into your roots. Amazing.

I also bring a headband and wrist bands. Guys if you’re not using these wristbands when you’re washing your face I swear you’re not experiencing a fully complete life 😆. No really though they’re like 5 bucks on Amazon and it’s sooo nice that water doesn’t run down your forearms and wherever else making a mess. Obsessed, truly insane ROI on these little wristbands haha.

Finally, I bring my own water bottle on all trips cause I suffer from all of the following afflictions: millennial, austistic, adhd, has a PhD, lol I just need my cute cup okay!! (Do I often lose the new bottles on said trips, also yes, but it’s wonderful to have on the flight there 🙃). I bring these bottle bright cleaning tablets and use them about every 2 days so I’m not drinking moldy water. Nothing grosses me out more than a yucky water bottle. Not even judging, there are many areas of my life I need to improve but this is the one place I have it together haha. It’s so easy you just dissolve it in hot water in your bottle give it a few shakes and let it sit before rinsing. Super recommend them they’re great for travel if you also have an emotional support water bottle 🙈.

PS I have the neon pink brumate with the silicone straw that slides under a leakproof lid it’s great if you’re looking for a cup that won’t leak in your bag but still has a straw :).

The bottom of that bag is where I keep my makeup, and I included an open photo of the face palette I use from Hourglass. Listen I looove the premise and all the actual powders, I just really wish the case wasn’t made of metal. I swear this thing would be less fragile (ie breaks the makeup inside the case) if it were made of crystal. I wish it were plastic or something softer to cushion blows. I’ve had to reconstruct the powders before. Now I travel with some cotton pads in it for some cushion.

I included the outside shots of the liquids bag I bring in my personal item. I’ve never posted here before but as you can see I’m super into this so if literally anyone wants to talk about it I’m so in haha.

Then just the overall view of how I packed my clothes in packing cubes and how she looks all packed up! I also pack my makeup brushes in that little brown Zoeva pouch (where I bought most of my brushes - there or ELF).

I recently got this suitcase from Away and I absolutely love it. It rolls like a dream and every piece of it just feels so lux. I travel for work maybe 2 weeks a month so it’s been enjoyed and I’m so happy with it if you’re considering it.

And finally I’ll end with things I’m already realizing I forgot and need to add to the black bag:
- Deodorant
- Olay melts - guys these are sooo cool for saving liquid space. I still bring a cleansing balm for makeup removal in my liquids but then I wash my face with those little paper like sheets that melt in water into face wash. Also fantastic and pack with dry items.

I flew to Chicago to see BTS last week and wanted to challenge myself to travel with just my Osprey 26 + 6 plus a belt bag! I flew out Wednesday after work, was in the Chicago area Thurs/Fri/Sat, and flew home Sunday afternoon. I definitely didn't need to pack so light but thought it would be fun to try - sometimes I feel like I get overly anxious about being prepared for a concert and end up bringing too many things, and this was a way of forcing myself to combat that. Other than the BTS concert I was just hanging out with my friends in the suburbs so it was a pretty low-risk trip to try this on. There was enough room under the seat for both my backpack and my belt bag, and the gate agents didn't say anything at all to me even when they were at the point that they were gate checking roller bags.

Overall, it ended up being GREAT - I had everything I needed for the concert and didn't feel like I was missing anything at all! It made getting to the airport on the front end really easy, and it made packing to go home really easy too. And the best part is that because I packed so minimally with no room to spare, I was not tempted at all to buy expensive concert merch I didn't need haha. The caveat to this is that when it comes to concert outfits I dress for comfort, not style, so I didn't have a ton of accessories I needed to bring for the concert other than my lightstick.

I’m trying so hard to start one bagging but am a chronic overpacker. I’m planning a short trip to Costa Rica in November, just 5 days. I feel very confident that I can onebag that one. I’m doing a big trip next year that I want to strategize for. It’ll be several days in northern Italy in May and then (if this all works out), three weeks in New Zealand. The big issue is climate differences on those. I’m hoping to use the CR trip for some packing practice though. I’m thinking of trying vacuum bags. I know a lot of one baggers say that vacuum bags just allow you to pack more, and you should pack less etc. Sure, but I’m doing my best here lol.

Thinking of trying vacuum bags for the CR trip with the intention of using them to make the Italy/nz trip more doable.

Any thoughts/feedback/suggestions? My biggest fear is what if they fail while I’m traveling. Would love thoughts from others. I’m a middle aged full size woman so tiny tanks and short shorts aren’t on my list of clothes if that helps.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

Here is my academic librarian conference travel "capsule" wardrobe, based on the 3 items/ 3 categories principle (but some of my items do double duty). 

My goal was mix-and-matchable pieces, with different possible levels of polish / fun depending on the event (presenting / attending / evening cocktails / etc). 

I wore the items with an X while traveling. The rest fit easily with toiletries, etc., into my backpack. (wrinkles released by hanging in the bathroom during a steamy shower).

Note that the dress looks a bit short for conference apparel, but I am a short lady compared to the model - it hits the middle of my kneecap.

As a reminder, I am not doing truly one bag because we’re bringing camera and hiking equipment, but trying to reduce baggage so we can help my parents with their bags during travel. I wanted my clothing to fit in a Cotopaxi Allpa 35 L. Good news - it fits! Barely.

Two week road trip in Greece planned for the end of October. I’m trying to make an effort to pare down my wardrobe and keep to a capsule style of coordinating items. We’’ll be splitting our time roughly:
3 days hiking in mountains
5 days beach / coastal towns
2 days city
2 days sightseeing (walking round ancient sites)
2 days travel
+ clothes for running / exercise.

Hoping for some weather warm enough to have some beach time but evenings and mountains may be chilly - together with the varied itinerary it feels like a lot of bases to cover!

Hello everyone,

I am going on a two week trip to Namibia where my husband and I will be self driving throughout the country (visiting Windhoek, Sesriem, Swakopmund, Khorixas, Etosha National Park and Otjiwarongo). I have read that the temperatures vary drastically, especially when visiting the coast.

I have really been trying to lighten up on packing in general and the kind of bags I bring. So far everything fits in my Cotopaxi Allpa 42L bag but it’s definitely stuffed and I need to fit binoculars. Any advice is appreciated from those who have been to this area or been on safari and can comment on what I may be overpacking/lacking.

Tops:

Some advice would be great! As you can see, there will be a lot of variation in climate. I'm planning to pack enough clothes for 7-10 days and do my laundry since I'm staying in hostels. I won't be hiking at all, it'll be mostly urban commuting, visiting museums, and archaeological sites. Also, I run pretty hot and I'm Canadian (wore a fall jacket through the Canadian winter one time because I didn't like how bulky it was) so I'm not too scared of the fall/winter weather. My bag is the bagsmart 37L expandable travel backpack.

Hello everyone!

The trip to Belarus was on 1-16th of August. This year temperatures ranged between +20C on the coldest day and +34C on the hottest day, which, I'd say, is normal for our summer. Didn't get any rain during this time. I've spent a total of 5 days in Belarus capital, Minsk, and all other days in the countryside.

I was travelling with a carry on suitcase, but more than half of it was packed with gifts, so that left me with almost no space for clothes. Luckily Azerbaijan Airlines aren't too strict about the personal item weight, so I packed my clothes into suitcase and my toiletries went into that HAY tote that you can see on the picture.

I also didn't need to bring any sleep clothes because I could just borrow some from my mum. And I was able to use my mum's washing machine.

With all that in mind, here's what I packed.

Airport outfit (London-Baku-Minsk and back):

1. NB pink sneakers
2. A-silhouette cotton maxi skirt in dark blue from WAWWA — in my opinion perfect for travelling because it's super breathable, blocks wind and sun well, doesn't constrict movement, easy to wash, it's easy to hide thermals underneath it, doesn't wrinkle much, has a proper structure to it, and all that while looking fabulous!
3. Cotton long sleeve t-shirt from COS in off-white — it's super lightweight and breathable and provides good cover from the sun
4. Hat
5. Lightweight jacket from Stussy
6. HAY tote — can fit all your life and still have some room left. I used it for travel days, to walk around the city, for a picnic, to go swimming and to buy groceries. Loved it
7. Watch, glasses with transitional lenses
8. CK Soft Wire Bralette, underwear

Packed clothes:

1. Two cotton tank tops from COS in cream and lavender
2. Two mini t-shirts from Uniqlo in brown and white
3. A pair of off-white UV protection sleeves from Uniqlo — I don't like putting sunscreen on my arms when I'm outside for a short period of time
4. Brown linen trousers from M&S
5. Adidas shorts
6. Green cotton bandana — perfect for hiding your neck from the sun and for general pop of colour
7. Teva sandals
8. Goodmove swimsuit
9. Thin socks + wool socks
10. Uniqlo HEATTECH camisole top — barely takes any space, great for chilly early mornings and evenings, goes unnoticed under t-shirts. Used 5 times on this trip!
11. Not on the picture — Uniqlo HEATTECH leggings (least warm ones, wore 1 time during the cold night when we stayed late to observe Perseids), 4 pairs of underwear

Wore every item at least once, the skirt was super comfortable on the plane. I also liked how I ended up looking on photos with this capsule.

The only thing I'd change is pack swimsuit that's not padded, because this one takes too much space.

My fiance and I are attempting our first one-bag trip to Portugal. I really tried to limit the clothes for our trip but I’m concerned that I may not have enough “dress clothes”. First 5 pictures are going in my Cotopaxi 35 L Allpa bag.
1st picture: Patagonia corduroy shorts, lululemon dance pants, prana cinch hiking pants. Cotton light green tshirt, polyester dark green tee, and pink merino wool t-shirt.
2nd: lululemon blue dress pleated shorts, white tank, white linen button up shirt, dress tank with fluffy sleeves, floral midi dress.
3rd: cozy earth pjs, tank and blue pj bottoms, amazon swimsuit, American tall onepiece swimsuit, 4 pairs of socks including paka and bombas.
4th: 3 shoes, HOKA Stinson for hiking and walking in city, chacos for good weather hiking and walking, smalls sandals for night out.

For our itinerary, we are starting in Porto with some sight seeing and dinner probably in the Time Out Market. Day 2: We booked a tour to go see Aveiro, the skybridge and Paiva walkways, then a nice dinner at Grottu. Day 3: We fly out pretty early to Madeira and will spend the day in Funchal and grocery shopping. Day 4: We hike PR8, the market, and beach day. Day 5:We will be hiking pr16, visiting the fanal Forrest, volcanic pools and visiting Seixal. Day 6: coasteering and sight seeing day. Day 7: Explore Funchal and fly to Lisbon. Day 8: Lisbon sight seeing and Michelin star restaurant. Day 9: Sintra guided tour. Day 10: fly home. There aren’t a lot of days spent in the city so I’m not sure if I need more than one dress short and a dress. The Prana pants are wide legged and could definitely pass as a little more up scale if paired with my white shirt. I do have some extra room, but I’m hoping to conserve it for souvenirs. Not pictured because I’m wearing it for travel: sweatpants, merino wool sweat shirt, and Ll bean lined rain jacket. Also included last minute: belt, baseball cap

I am traveling with my partner to Brussels, Ghent, and Paris for two weeks in mid-September, and would love any feedback or recommendations!

Considerations: I have ulcerative colitis, so I will be traveling with medications including a fairly large box of prescription enemas. I live in Florida (USA) and am used to dressing for 95°F (35°C) weather with over 85% humidity. I have no idea how to dress for cooler weather now, despite growing up in Maine.

I took the BTTM bag to New Zealand last year, and while I liked the size of the main compartment, it was uncomfortable and left bruises on my shoulders when waiting in long lines and booking it across airports. I was also really annoyed by the lack of outer pockets. I haven't used the Allpa 28L on a trip yet, but the straps are a lot more comfortable.

I haven't decided on a personal item bag yet, but it would be small-ish. I don't recommend traveling with the BTTM on your back and a regular backpack on your front.

About to leave for a trip to Scotland, and the whole family is one-bagging it. I hate traveling anywhere with cobblestones with a rolling bag so backpacks for everyone. My kids are pretty good hikers, campers, and go for 10km trail runs most weekends (we live by the Rockies) so I’m confident in their ability to carry their own bags. Not pictured are our personal item bags that mostly just have headphones and things for the plane. My husband is ex-military so we get free checked bags regardless, but it’s always so nice to not have to wait for baggage claim or have bags get lost.

I am pretty sure we could have gone smaller/lighter, but my daughter has a bladder condition resulting in leaks and bedwetting so she needs lots of extra clothes and overnight pull-ups. About halfway through we will be staying in a VRBO with laundry, so that’s helpful!

My pack currently comes in at 14lbs. without water.

First, I am wondering what I am missing and what I can remove. I feel like I have a lot of bottoms. I could remove one of the linen, but I'm torn and they don't take much room/weight. I am worried I might need more layers for the Swiss Alps and cruise dinners/shows (My very first cruise, so I don't know what to expect). I have merino leggings and a lot of other layering options, but I don't want to anything I wont use or will only use once)

Second, I'm struggling with which bag to use. For reference, I am 5'1". I have packed them and walked around a bit and still can't decide.

The Eagle Creek bag does not have much extra room for small souvenirs and the bottle holder seems unusable, as well as any of the external pockets. I also have room in my personal item to shift things around and can use that to hold my water bottle, but it would make it a little more awkward on my shoulder. Since it is a women's bag, the shoulder straps feel slightly more comfortable, but I feel like I need to lean forward slightly while walking. I can stoop/squat pretty far before the bag hits the back of my head.

I did not have to pack anything in the second smaller internal Cotopaxi section, so there is still room there. The water bottle sleeve is not impeded by how packed the bag is, which is wonderful. I feel like I can walk more normally in this one. The bag hits the back of my head a bit sooner.

Anything else I'm not thinking of?

ETA: Thank you for the input. I left out that I will have 3 days in Florence between tour and cruise. 15 of my days will be in hotter climate areas and all of my lighter clothing can be layered up. As a backpacker, I try to capitalize on layers as much as possible. I was concerned about being in the Swiss Alps for 2 days, so I am now convinced I will add another merino base layer (long bottoms and long sleeve top) and will cut out 1 linen trouser and tank.

The land tour will be fast paced and I am not sure how much time I will have to shop for toiletries, so I want to at least have stuff to start with rather than use up time shopping.

The problem with decanting everything into tiny containers is that they often fall through the gaps in shower shelves - and that's if I'm lucky enough to even get a shelf. I'm tired of trying to balance all my tiny containers on the shower control.

I'm looking for a small tray made of squashable plastic, with sucker pads so it will stick to the shower wall. Big enough for a few muji containers.

Has anyone come across something like this?

Trying to pack light with layers for southern Germany region in late October. Weather will range from mild to cold and definitely rainy. So many posts mention merino t shirts in their layers. I am struggling with that first layer. For women's long-sleeved t shirts, what are some recs? I am definitely on a budget so nothing super deluxe. Also thinking Uniqlo merino for a sweater and cardigan - has anyone layered with these or is there something better in that price range? Bonus question: should i just take a fleece (and plan to buy an umbrella there) or invest in a "packable" puffer? Thanks!

Also for this particular trip, since it’s around 90-110F & almost 90% humidity with 50% tropical storms; I decided to use solid shampoo & conditioner. Also I didn’t use any lotion.

I did use every perfume but honestly, I could have gone with just 2 options. Also the lip gloss is a bit excessive. I end up only using 2.

I can definitely scale this down to a much smaller amount since I end up not finishing 2 of my serums and one of the cream. I learned that the 5ml dropper was the perfect amount of serum for a 10 day trip.

I've got a frozen shoulder, so I cannot manage a backpack or duffel as my one-bag. It does not have to be a spinner, but I do need some kind of wheeled bag. In my online searches, I'm finding out that once the wheels and handles of any suggested bag are accounted for, it's suddenly no longer within the dimension limit above! This is making searching very frustrating, even with an AI assist. I also have a weight limit of 8kg, so I'd like the bag to be as lightweight as possible. This is a three-week trip (all flights, no trains) in Germany & Italy with this bag to as my carry-on, but it will need to be checked to return to the USA, so it needs to be durable as well as small and light. Is this too much to ask?

(Photos explanation: first costs around $12, third but in other colours costs $4, second is about $7 and the third one with stripes is around $13. We don’t earn as much money as other countries so only the cheapest doesn’t hurt at all, the second one hurts a bit more and the others would be considered pricey)

So I already have my new duffle bag and my third of a carryon (there’s three of us and one carryon :p). And I need to take makeup, acne/SFP/etc creams, etcetera. Plus probably a LOT of things for my mother bc she loves to overpack.

I’m taking only one pair of shoes, if I need more, I’ll buy more.
Anyways it’s my first solo flight (like 16h) and I will need some new things for it. I have enough time to buy some SHEIN stuff. Bear In mind I’m not from the USA. I need your best recommendations on what to buy and what not to buy.

I have packing cubes but they’re not compressible. Has anyone tried SHEIN packing compressible cubes?

And which of this hanging toiletry things you think is the best, and any advice you might think of.

Also: the first photo, this hanging thing, has anyone try it? Is it great or does it take too much space for too little clothes?

Hi all!

I'm going on my longest international trip so far from September 27–November 1 this year (visiting Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, Paris, Edinburgh, and London) and I'd love to get a sanity check on my wardrobe packing list. Trip activities include churches, historic monuments, city exploring, one or two pools, and a wedding near Florence - no hiking or beaches.

I'm pretty new to minimalist packing in general, so I'm needing some help to see what's unnecessary. The goal is to 1.5 bag (one 40L bag and a 7L day bag). Toiletries and makeup all fit into a 2L pouch, and I have ~1L of various other essentials (phone, charger, wallet, etc.).
