I also didn’t know there was meant to be a 5th season, I feel like it kind if ends really well without one but would of been interesting to see what would of happened with all the characters.

I watched this show as a kid and loved it, rewatching it as an adult and it’s not quite what I thought it was, and has a lot of messiness but despite that I still love this show so much and I think it will always have a special place for me.

I was watch Law and Order SVU S9E3 “Impulse”, it moves quick but one of the city busses pulls up in the scene and you see the picture of the eclipse and a clear reference to the tv show

He was having dreams of the future, flying with Nathan. He had to have absorbed and used his moms ability to see this, and he didn’t actually fly till afterwards. Idk I kinda just brushed over s1 the first time around and just thought he absorbed Nathan’s ability then had dreams of this ability, but NO! It’s evil selfish mommy

For me:

1. Volume 1 (9.5/10) - Certainly some writing issues and a meh finalé fight, but how everything worked around and with each other was great.

2. Volume 4 (8/10) - Really good. A lot of overly convenient writing but I enjoyed it a lot. Hated how characters had the opportunity to do "x" thing but constantly don't for whatever reason. This is what Heroes Reborn should have been like.

3. Volume 3 (7.5/10) - The writing is very messy here and a lot I disliked. But it's fun. In my opinion the funniest volume of the show. Loved Hiro, Ando, Matt & Daphne together.

4. Volume 5 (3/10) - Hot garbage. Some good episodes. But genuinely unwatchable.

5. Volume 2 (2/10) - You have to skip so much because of how bad it is when rewatching. Maya and Alejandro, Sylar's plot & Takezo Kensei's storyline all suck. Nathan and Matt as a duo were the best part of this season.

Hey all, I just recently started Heroes and am loving it so far. Hiro is my favorite, Claire is my 2nd favorite and surprisingly, Nathan is my 3rd favorite haha. I'm on Season 1 Episode 15 currently. I am curious on what everybody's top 5 or 10 favorite episodes of the whole show are, so I can look forward to them or Alternatively season rankings. Thanks fellow Heroes!

I will try to not spoil too much in case anyone finds themselves here but I loved Hiro. I was a bit upset when he was having difficulty with his power but it was understandable. But I am now on episode 21 of season 1 and he keep trying to put off his destiny!! He worshipped the comic and was the reason he even started this whole thing but now he is feeling unsure? I get that he is a nice guy and cares blah blah blah but come on... he can't go from getting the exact same car in the comic to now saying he has failed. Idk just feel like he wants the title of hero without any of the sacrifices. Sadly now I am hating everyone on this show except for maybe Claire and maybe Ted. idk

I'm 54 and pulled up the series on a lark a month ago.....I'm so sad to be in the 4th season knowing the end is coming. Seriously some of the best story telling I've seen in years and wish I would have been on it when it was live. Hayden you are appreciated and all my best to her family and friends in the wake of a light gone out too quickly.

I just started rewatching Heroes and noticed something. In Epidsode 5 Matt passed out at the convenience store after getting overwhelmed by all the thoughts at once, then they dont show him unill episode 7 and he's fine. Did I miss a scene or something or did they never address him passing out?

So, I am probably not the only one watching the show again after the tragic news, Hayden is such an inspiration for me. Won’t go into too many details but we share a few familial issues that while I don’t know her I really respected all that she came up against and was doing her best. Also really loved her in ice princess as a kid one of my favorite movies as a little kid. I watched the show as a kid (mostly because I love Hayden in ice princess) and I honestly didn’t know there were seasons beyond season 1. I don’t know what happened maybe because I was younger but I never watched the other seasons until now on Netflix. And I don’t know what to make of the second season.

I love the first season, I find it so interesting and the concept even now is really interesting and haven’t found many shows like it. It’s kinda like x-men (which is a fave) but is (imho) more grounded in reality and less “superhero” iykyk. I do enjoy how all the characters are grey and no one is really “good good” except maybe Hiro and Micah. I also really liked the ending everyone coming together at the end that felt like a satisfying crescendo. My favorite characters from the first season were Claire (who really reminds me of Drop Dead Gorgeous idky), Matt and Eden. The characters felt like lots of complexity and the motivations felt understandable and rooted.

However, season 2 (only on e11) I watched half the season and everyone’s motivations just feel so weird. Like even though all the characters teamed up at the end, which should have built trust just goes out the window. For example, Peter goes off with Adam Monroe (whom he doesn’t know from a ham sandwich) and starts hurting people that he has known way longer. Mohinder goes to “the” company that he has to know is doing evil, but betrays Noah which is strange because they clearly have similar motivations. Claire feels like a totally different character and I know we all age but it’s like why would a young woman want to put her family through all that AGAIN. I also don’t understand this virus situation like why would you keep it around if it is so dangerous and how stupid can this global company be? I know it feels like a rant but can anyone explain to me like a fifth grader what the hell is going on this season? It feels like a totally different show. Even Matt whom I really enjoy feels like he is all over the place with his father and how he is totally siding with Angela and Nathan but then leaves Molly like huh? Also hate the Niki storyline like what? You just up and leave your son and go on this “work”for the company trying to kill you even when you already did this in S1 and look how that ended up.

The only bright spot in the second season really was watching Micah come into his powers which I thought was cool power to communicate with Tech even Monica feels kinda cool (even though she is just the same character as Charlie from S1) and Ando. I also kinda liked the ancient Japan stuff but then it ended so weirdly and made no sense, especially the Adam Monroe character.
It is cool to see Peter’s powers expanding naturally (because a lot of the others feel like their powers just get more powerful very easily) but why do you trust Adam so much when clearly he knows all the elders and none of them are great. He hurts hiro whom he has known just wants what’s best. Like wtf I loved Maya and Alejandro at first I thought it was cool for the world to get bigger and see more diversity in the show. BUT what? She literally just trust Sylar (Gabe) after only knowing him for a month, I just don’t understand the motivation here. Plus her character seems like it’s going no where just the same sequence each episode, I get that Sylar is “charismatic” and I do think the actor does a good job but no way and I trusting a stranger more than my sibling who has been supporting me and helping me control my power. Also the company primatech almost feels cartoonish this season like huh? Bob and his daughter are legitimately laughable even though I do love Elle’s powers and her character is funny.

Maybe I need to keep watching but I am so confused and feel like I am watching a completely different show with characters that feel like all the development in season 1 just goes out the window and everyone is a clean slate. I am kinda disappointed, does it get better? Again, loved the show as a kid watching it and was excited when I saw on Netflix and was like oh wow there is more season but now I am wondering if o didn’t know about it because it was so bad? Does it get better? And if anyone maybe has some insight, but the first season felt so interesting like a real thriller and idk S2 feels almost silly.

Just started watching heroes, watched season 1 on netflix. I had one episode left and decided to wait until Saturday (yesterday) to watch it, then found out it's been pulled from netflix.

So I started watching it on Amazon prime, I'm currently in the middle of season 2 and then charmed started playing. Now it says I have to buy it and they've stopped me from watching it on there too 😭😭

I'm rewatching Heroes, pushed by the sad news about Hayden. I was at the episode 01x21 some minutes ago, and I've noticed a fun fact:

If you look at Sylar's mum face while she's dead lying on the floor in her blood, you can see that the actress blinks her eyes once.

I'm only on episode 15 on season 1, but I can see why this show left such a mark and also why it floundered. First of all, it did the whole "separate stories becoming connected" thing before the MCU even started. But mainly it has a lot that's missing from contemporary superhero fiction. Powers being put onto ordinary people and messing with their lives in a more realistic way, for better or for worse. Like Matt Parkman, the cop, gets mind-reading and it lets him be better at his job, but also lets him hear thoughts that are impossible to ignore. And the guy with radiation powers that immediate ruins his life.

This is all groundbreaking stuff but Heroes suffers from being a network television show with an ensemble cast. Nothing is really explored in depth as things have to quickly move from character to character. The powers were meant to serve the plot, and only the plot of a single season, so various bullshit has to be used to keep them from repeatedly breaking the plot in the future.

Worm is a web serial written by a guy who must've balanced competitive video games in his past life or something, because he took superpowers and everything about them, and thought about them, and took that thinking to its limit in every conceivable direction. To an average civilian, the world would look similar to the MCU or DCU, but absolutely everything has been thought through in detail and elaborated on in a way that makes sense. Being a web serial, every chapter was released after being written, yet not once does a character have their powers nerfed, stripped, or erased to serve the plot, despite there being some of the most absolute bullshit OP powers ever seen in fiction.

Also, the protagonist of Worm is a bullied teenage girl with bug powers that is desperately trying to not go full Carrie on everyone, she goes on an extended Breaking Bad type journey that turns into saving the world, and it's glorious.

I’m watching Heroes (not for the first time, I watched it when it originally aired, but don’t remember much) and I’m at the Homecoming episode, where there’s a scene in which Peter tells Ando that he absorbs the powers of others, but only when they’re close, and that he doesn’t really have a power on his own. The last I knew, Peter thought his power was flying, so when did he come to the realization that his power was to absorb others’ powers? I don’t remember a scene where this happens, so I skimmed through the last couple of episodes to see if I missed it, and still didn’t see it. Did I miss something, or did this come out of nowhere?

Villains is quite easily the worst of the original series volume’s, and this one dream sequence pisses me off so much because of the lies this one scene has. I was so hyped when I saw this moment because the idea of Sylar creating a villain group consisting of the shows previous antagonists (Adam and Maury) and new faces (Tracey and Knox) was so goddamn badass and seemed so sick. Then you watch the entire season and this entire dream sequence was by far the biggest fucking lie in the show. This team up never happens. Adam & Murray get killed off legit a few episodes later, Tracy never works with them and Sylar becomes an anti hero in this volume. Fuck this goddamn volume

My head canon is that they had some fun days

That would explain why Peter treat Sylar like a good guy when they woke up

I literally just finished Heroes, and I was so invested I had to see it through to the end. I know everyone blames the writers' strike, and honestly, this show could have gone down as a top-ten superhero show ever if not for that. But this mess can't just be blamed on the strike. The directors, actors, and writers all share the blame for this.

Sometimes I had to take breaks because watching it was sincerely making me upset. Every character basically forgets their own character development, especially Hiro, and their personalities just become annoying on multiple occasions. (Also, Hiro treated Ando like less than a sidekick most of the time, which was messed up.) The inconsistencies aren't constant, but the ones they do have make the show very hard to watch. It's like the writers thought we viewers would just forget plot points or are just dumb.

For example, Peter leaving Caitlin (the Irish girl) stranded in the virus future! It was literally a situationship; he accidentally leaves her in an apocalyptic timeline, and then just... forgets about her? Even though the future changed, that doesn’t guarantee her safety. He didn’t even try to go back and find her! Or how about Claude (the invisible man)? How did he survive getting shot by Bennet and falling off a bridge? It was never explained how he survived that fall, unlike how Noah faked his own death later.

Also, it really doesn't make sense that Mohinder's dad was at the Coyote Sands camp for "specials" with Nathan's mom. Speaking of Mohinder, he was so much wasted potential. They should have just kept him normal. He was a much better character before the subplot where he gave himself powers.

I know the actress who played the cheerleader (Hayden Panettiere) recently passed away, which is incredibly sad, but her character was a huge victim of bad writing. It was like she switched to an entirely different person. The constant back-and-forth with her dad (Noah/HRG) was unbearable; she would start stuff for no reason. I honestly feel like she would have been happier in Level 5, because the outside world was just too much for her and it never felt like she actually wanted to be a hero. It just felt like she wanted to be the center of attention in every situation. Also, she acted like her power was a curse—bro, relax. You just heal. You aren't like Sylar, who literally couldn't control the murderous urges his powers gave him. The only thing I'll let slide is that not feeling physical pain might cause some self-discovery and make you wonder if you're still human. But her mom teaching her to fight didn't even do anything!

At least Claire's dad (Mr.Bennet) stuck to his philosophy and what he was about. His backstory and his reasoning for tracking the specials gave him a solid foundation, so I’m okay with him. He could've easily been a bigger victim of bad writing.

Speaking of annoying: Matt Parkman and Claire are on the same level, but I dislike Matt more. Every time this guy was on screen, I got upset. His relationship with Daphne (the speedster) was SO forced. Okay, you saw one alternate future where y'all are married, so now you're in love with her? And she actually falls for it too?! She literally had no reason to do so. Sure, he was nice to her, but the only reason a guy like Parkman was obsessed with her was because of what he thought could happen.

Then there's the worst plotline: turning Sylar into Nathan. This was a VERY BAD IDEA. This was the perfect time to get rid of Sylar once and for all. I fully expected Parkman to reject the idea of brainwashing him, but Matt disappointed me once again.

And when Peter and Sylar-as-Nathan were on the hospital roof, why didn't Peter just keep the Haitian's power turned on?! He literally used it to suppress Sylar's powers moments before, but instead, he let his fake brother cloud his judgment. If he had just held onto the Haitian's power, Sylar would have been no more!

Also, Sylar has SUPER HEARING BTW. The writers forgot most of the powers he absorbed and just stuck with shapeshifting, telekinesis, immortality, and sometimes electricity.

Bro, the real Nathan had to be under the influence of something, because you just finished an arc where you avoided your plan to blow up New York and remained a good guy, only to turn around and start rounding up specials for the government? It was exactly like the alternate future (which was actually Sylar disguised as Nathan, btw), and it felt like the writers were trying to make a callback, but it was just annoying to watch. Nathan really didn't need to get killed off, but I wasn't mad at it. It always felt like Sylar never really killed anyone who was actually vital to the overall story, so Nathan could go.

Peter was another victim of bad writing. Taking Peter and Hiro's powers away was obviously just because they were getting too OP. I'm okay with the way Peter got his powers back, and downscaling him to one copied power at a time was a great nerf. But the way Hiro got his powers back didn't make any sense. Baby Matt Parkman Jr.'s power just didn't make sense. And Hiro being healed from his brain tumor felt like it was all just a hallucination happening in his mind. Also, how did Arthur Petrelli even get the ability to steal Hiro's power when he was in the past? How would he have known? It didn't make any sense.

Let’s talk about some positives though. The Haitian is a top-tier character. Bro just AURA FARMS. Just chilling, no notes on him.

Also, Micah as "Rebel" had a really good run. I like how they used his character, and that whole subplot was genuinely good, to be honest.

But where did the woman who could talk to machines go (Hana)? After Ted the radiation guy exploded, she was never seen again. And where did Molly Walker (the girl who could find anybody) go?

The final villain of Season 4 (Samuel) felt a little forced, but he was a decent villain with understandable reasons.

I'm so glad Claire finally showed the world her powers at the end, because it seemed like that’s all she really wanted: to be seen and not have to hide.

Did I understand that correctly? Angela said that Sylar is her son, which would make him Peter and Nathan’s brother… right?
I feel like every time I think I understand this family, Heroes throws another plot twist at me
